Absolute rubbish

Absolute rubbish. It took ages to get set up and now the pin displayed on my account doesn't work, so card and account locked. Can't get in contact with Barclays.
I just want my money back that I preloaded and account closed.

I honestly found this useful to use

I honestly found this useful to use. I even helped friends become aware of it and they too start using it. So we ended up in a circle of 30 friends as business users. It was just simple to use. I only used to have minor issues with login problems when installing on a new phone but it was always solved through the helpline. I for one, am shocked many hate this app. But the majority don’t seem to approve it use. I’ll miss it for sure which is a shame as it was really quick to use for my needs. And all the friends I know who use it never had any issues with it. It’s a shame really.

Pointless

I never really saw a proper use for Pingit. It had a few niche uses the Barclays app didn’t have, but otherwise I don’t know what purpose this app serves.

Pingit device blocked.. no resolution in sight

I have had a Pingit key fob and it worked well, admittedly I didn't use it much but it was handy to have. My wife bought me the Pingit watch strap which seemed like it would be a great idea. However, after setting up the "jar" and watch strap device I went to test it in a local coffee shop and it was declined. Logging into the app I could see the device status had moved to "blocked". I couldn't see any information on why this happened, had no notifications or emails, so decided to give them a call. I have currently been waiting 2 hours and counting. There is no information on how long the wait will be or where I am in a queue, just music and a voice saying thanks for waiting and they will answer as soon as possible. I have banked with Barclays all my life and never experienced anything like this. Truly awful service with no customer care available. I will try and update this if they ever answer.
Edit: I gave up after three hours, the next day I tried again and got through in approx. 40 minutes. The advisor had me on hold for over 30 minutes whilst she tried to contact the right team, then promised a call back a few days later to update me. I didn't get a call back but I did see online that the strap changed to active. I have tested and it now works, but I just pray I never need to call them again.

Great when it works, shame it’s so unreliable

I have been using Pingit for about 2 years and bPay before it for about 2 years. Both apps are cumbersome to use, low functionality, difficult to configure. Customer service is virtually non-existent and slooooooow. Days or weeks to resolve issues. I am technically proficient and low maintenance as a user - I hate having to use any client service or having to contact companies for help but with Pingit, it is really unavoidable.

A convoluted set up of jars and devices which once opened cannot be removed or hidden - management is a nightmare.

The devices themselves are unreliable. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t. No way of telling what it likes or doesn’t. When it works it’s great and you get admiring “ooh”s and “aah”s but when it doesn’t you will have spent several attempts at touching to pay only to have to get your card out. Might as well just use applepay. I’ve been through about 5 replacement devices. None more reliable than the previous.

I have set this final device up as a last chance for Pingit. I’ll use until it fails - if it’s like the last device, it won’t even work from new.

Biggest waste of time for a ‘convenient way to pay’. Definitely a waste of money spent on devices.

Avoid if you haven’t already invested any time or money on this. Applepay, Googlepay, even contactless card is just as good, if not better.

Absolutely appalling application

Absolutely appalling application. Save your time, money, energy & avoid it like the plague. I'm left with a faulty device that I can't use & they won't send me another as my address has changed.. Guess what! The app crashed when you try & change address & they don't allow you to do it online.

Barclays Pingit is appalling…

Barclays Pingit has appalling customer service. Barclays do not take their product seriously at all. During the later stages of the corona virus pandemic they have removed all telephone support for their Pingit product. My other banks still maintained close to normal customer service so why can't Barclays? The corona virus is no excuse. It is a 80mile round trip to my nearest branch. My iPhone failed and I purchased a new one but then you need a special code from customer services to activate the new iPhone. I have money locked in my account and no way to get at it because there is no customer service of any kind. Appalling, why do you think this is ok Barclays?
