Being a volunteer with PMGY was amazing, very enjoyable.
I learnt a lot about Ecuador and throughly enjoyed teaching English to school kids. PMGY in country was very supportive and organised really fun activities.
I loved being in Ecuador, my host family was amazing and treated me like a family member. I really enjoyed volunteering in the hospital as well, even though it was a bit boring sometimes because I was not allowed to do anything (bc it was only watching not doing, which is advertised differently). Quito is also a lovely city and I had a lot of activities to do!
I spent six weeks volunteering on the bird conservation programme in Ecuador, and it was absolutely fantastic. Each day, I took part in a variety of tasks, including cleaning the turtles, chopping fruit for the birds, cleaning cages, and even occasionally helping with bird training. I learnt so much during my time there and formed so many wonderful friendships — not just with other volunteers, but with the birds as well! My host family were absolutely lovely. My host mum, Mónica, couldn’t have been more helpful, always recommending the best things to do in the local area and making sure we stayed safe. We had such an amazing time following her advice, whether it was exploring nearby attractions or visiting the places she suggested for our weekend trips. Finally, I have to mention Germán and Fernanda at the Spanish school, who were incredibly supportive. They helped us book excursions — including unforgettable trips to the Amazon and Cotopaxi — at very reasonable prices. They patiently answered all our questions, showed us how to use the local public transport to get to the projects, and organised fantastic evening events for us to enjoy. Overall, it was an incredible experience from start to finish, and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone considering volunteering abroad.
The experience was very enriching, you feel like you are being useful. The PMGY staff is very friendly and professional, and several activities are possible! I loved it!
Even before travelling, I really couldn’t have been better prepared for my programme in Ecuador. The PMGY volunteer handbook contains all the information you could possibly need and my arrival was so smooth as a result. While in Quito, I volunteered to teach English. Every single day, I was helping create games, drill pronunciation and even teach entire grammar lessons. I felt useful throughout, which made the whole experience so rewarding. My homestay (Monika) was absolutely incredible, and not just because of the amazing food and consistent Spanish practice. The advice and recommendations I was given for independent travel really helped me see some of the most amazing things Ecuador has to offer, and I felt that the flexibility of the volunteering program allowed me to do so much outside of the classroom even in 2 weeks. I would strongly recommend this program to anyone!
I had a fantastic experience volunteering in Ecuador! The project was so much fun, and the local team was incredibly supportive in every way. I felt very comfortable with my host family and enjoyed spending time with the other volunteers.
I recommend PMGY. It is a great way to travel (the idea of integration within the country and home staying - volunteering/learning the local language and to also introduce new areas to explore is a wonderful way to go. The experience speaks for itself and PMGY does a great way to facilitate that.
This experience was worth the money and cheaper than a lot of the other options that were available. My group had the best time and we would recommend this experience with PMGY to anyone who is interested.
Fantastic experience! Would recommend this company to volunteer around the globe to everyone.
It was a great experience
my trip was amazing! good value!
It was an amazing experience. Working with students was just wonderful and I learned so much doing this. It was too hard to say goodbye to my lovely students, hopefully I can meet them again one day!
I loved helping the teacher and working with the kids.
Amazing experience. The host family was sweet and welcoming, and the school where I worked made me feel useful. The relationship I got with the kids was so rewarding, and I highly recommend this experience to anyone. Through PMGY there were a bunch of different classes you could take (like cooking classes or salsa classes) where it was possible to meet other volunteers. It never got lonely, and the staff helps you to plan out your weekends if you are not sure where to go.
Fantastic
