Really nice experience ! We had an amazing volunteering experience in Vietnam! We worked in a school near Hanoi with young children and local teachers, who were all incredibly welcoming and kind. The organization was great and we felt well supported throughout our stay. It was also the perfect opportunity to meet people from all over the world and discover Vietnam. We visited Ninh Binh, Ha Long Bay and Sapa, and even extended our trip to explore the south. A truly rewarding experience combining volunteering, travelling and meeting amazing people. We would 100% recommend it!
This was truly the experience of a lifetime. The staff at volunteers for peace Vietnam were really supportive and friendly, and they made us feel really well looked after and welcomed. The programme itself was really well organised, and the city tour they organised was a highlight of our two weeks there, as we felt immersed in the culture. Overall, I had an amazing time, and seeing a surgery everyday was really cool, as someone going into my third year of med.

My three-week volunteering experience in Vietnam was absolutely amazing. I was placed at Viet Duc University Hospital in Hanoi, where I had the opportunity to shadow some of the best professionals in their fields. It was an incredible experience to see how healthcare is delivered in Vietnam and compare it with what I have experienced in the UK. Being able to observe healthcare professionals in a different healthcare system gave me a completely new perspective and was one of the most memorable parts of my placement. The medical coordinator and all of the staff at VPV were incredibly helpful, friendly and welcoming throughout my time there. They made us feel comfortable from the beginning and were always happy to answer our questions. The project ran from Monday to Thursday, which gave us plenty of time outside of volunteering to explore Hanoi and experience more of Vietnam. One of the best things about the programme was the opportunity to travel during our free time. I had the chance to explore Hanoi as well as visit Ninh Binh and Sapa. These trips were some of the highlights of my time in Vietnam and allowed me to experience the country beyond the hospital and see its beautiful landscapes, culture and local communities. The accommodation was very comfortable and was also a great place to meet other volunteers. One of my favourite parts of the whole experience was being surrounded by such a diverse group of people from all over the world. I met people from so many different backgrounds and have made lifelong friends as well as memories that I will cherish forever. For future volunteers, my biggest piece of advice would be to keep an open mind and make the most of every opportunity. Don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone, speak to new people and explore as much as you can. Three weeks can go by incredibly quickly, so take every opportunity you get and enjoy the experience because it is one you will remember for a very long time.

I completed my elective placement in Vietnam this summer. The whole experience was very informative and I was very grateful for the opportunity, will definitely recommend a placement in Vietnam as the team was brilliant.
Unreal experience with some amazing people.
Had the best time with PMGY Vietnam (VPV). Through this organisation, I was able to complete a two week medical placement at the Viet Duc University Hospital in Hanoi. PMGY helped liase with the hospital staff, provided a very comfortable homestay with a bunk bed, free laundry and three meals a day! The environment was very welcoming and friendly, and I was able to meet lots of new people from around the world, involved in various volunteering projects with PMGY, many of whom I traveled with on the weekends. The PMGY staff were incredibly kind and helpful and toured us around the city, recommended local spots, and even gave us a lesson on Vietnamese history, culture and language! I had the best time and would totally recommend to anyone wanting to volunteer abroad!!

I volunteered in Vietnam for 3 weeks with my friend. Overall, it was a nice experience that pushed me outside my comfort zone and helped me gain skills that will be beneficial for my future. The staff at the accomodation were overall helpful. The accomodation does need a good fixer upper but serves its purpose.
The experience with the children was fantastic; we loved working with a class of 4- and 5-year-olds and their wonderful teachers. We were able to share our activities and English lessons with the children. The coordinators were amazing; they helped and supported us throughout the project. We are very grateful to them. Unfortunately, the accommodation provided wasn't up to the same standard as the other experiences, but the coordinators helped us find alternative solutions.

Volunteering in Vietnam was the best decision ever. I gained a lot of experience from the hospital but also met incredibly sweet people. Everyone made sure that I was happy with the volunteering I was doing and took great care of me. The coordinators also made sure I had no issue in hospital. Overall I had a great time learning but also exploring a total different healthcare system.
That was a really good experience, I truly recommend it !
