Unable to cancel via online portal have left voicemail and sent message via portal but they really do not make it easy - so far 20 min wasted. Not really in line with consumer duty principles

I am surprised to read the negative reviews, as my experience has been good. I’ve had a policy with PolicyBee for several years and it provides my business with what I need. I’ve made changes to my policy as needed for my clients, and always been able to obtain documents and contact help/support when needed.
I would give zero if it was an option very poor experience with the customer service in medical department, I don not recommend this insurance for dentist and doctors

Thinking of getting insured with this company? just try and give them a call on the number on there site, you cannot call them its purely a voicemail hotline, once you have paid there is NO contact you do not even recieve a receipt with your policy number.. you can only contact them via email I've still not received a response and its been days, do not use your hard earned money with this dodgy company.

Hi, so this is more of a question than a review as I am new to this company.
Is Policy Bee website ALWAYS down? I am trying to access my insurance documents 3 days after being insured so i can order my business stock, and nothing! Not being able to provide my documents has set my business productivity back by 2 days. So frustrating. I am within a cooling period and honestly thinking of looking elsewhere already.
Thankyou.

I've been a customer with policybee for 6 years and recently had my camera bag stolen. I had assumed that the insurance policy I had against loss and theft would cover it; however, the policy is worded in such a particular way that I don't think there are any situations other than being literally mugged which they would agree to cover, and even then, I feel like they'd somehow say it was my fault and would find other ways to wriggle out of honouring the policy.
My bag was taken from an event I was photographing. It was stored in a staff room away from the public, and left in the care of the various event staff who I was working for; however, because it wasn't left with ‘a singular member of staff who I specifically named’ and was instead left with a multitude of trusted people in a secure staff room, this apparently means I'm not covered. The whole policy is worded like a big series of gotcha's to make sure they don't ever have to pay out.
So now I'm out of pocket, and out of business as I can't afford to absorb those kinds of losses. Without my kit I can't run my business. They have absolutely let me down when I needed it most. The insurance policy isn't worth the paper it's written on and I would suggest everyone stay well clear of these charlatans.
I have no doubt they will reply saying that 'all of the information was available in the policy documents' or some other deflection, but frankly they're out here selling insurance which isn't fit for purpose. You shouldn't be allowed to sell insurance against theft which then stipulates they only pay out under conditions where it would never get stolen in the first place and being a victim of a random crime is basically your problem, despite the fact that that's what I paid for insurance against.

I recently tried to apply for insurance with PolicyBee for my business, and what started out as a routine process quickly turned into a deeply concerning experience. At first, I expected the usual questions—it's standard for an insurance company to gather information about your business. But it soon became clear that PolicyBee wasn’t just being thorough—they were being unreasonably selective and discriminatory.
What really shocked me was the underlying tone of the questions and the excuses they gave for why my company was "ineligible." The representative kept dancing around the issue, giving me vague and unclear reasons for rejecting my application. I got the distinct feeling that there was more going on behind the scenes, and unfortunately, it felt like it was rooted in something far worse than just routine business screening.
When I pressed for clarification, the answers I received only made things worse. It seemed like PolicyBee was more concerned with avoiding certain businesses based on discriminatory criteria, rather than actually assessing risk like an insurance company should. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth.
If you’re looking for insurance, I’d recommend steering clear of PolicyBee. Their approach to customer service is evasive and lacks transparency. It’s one thing to be cautious as an insurer, but when discrimination comes into play, it’s a huge red flag. There are plenty of insurance providers out there who are honest, professional, and fair—PolicyBee is not one of them.

10 years with this company and I miss my renewal due to a holiday and then Try to get re insured. My advice to everyone stay away from this company poor customer service and they treat you poorly. Suddenly they want to fleece me

Visited the site looking for stock insurance, landed on the stock insurance page, the page talks all about stock insurance for small businesses, so I click on the "get a quote" option, go through all the questions and when I get to the end and it displays the quote but it's not for stock insurance at all. It's trying to sell me a policy with employer insurance, public liability and several others - with stock insurance as an optional extra (and not even selected!)
Highly misleading and total waste of my time. Glad I used a fake phone number in the quote now.
[update based on your reply]
Don't give me that nonsense about giving me the "right insurance", I knew what specific insurance I wanted and you deliberately mislead me into thinking I was getting a quote for that specific type of insurance, and then switching it for a totally different type of insurance. It's like if I wanted bicycle insurance, and a company had a page offering bicycle insurance, then after taking all my details them giving me a quote for house buildings and contents insurance that happens to include bicycles as an option.

Be very careful as they took money from our account after our policy expired, we were all chased £94 a month, when shopping around we found a rate of £23 per month with Hamilton Fraser so they are well worth a look as they are a fraction of the cost for the same cover

9 months on from my claim with these guys and still barely any closer to works being completed. No communication with them in the last two weeks since I expressed my dissatisfaction and asked for a resolution.

Good experience on the phone as they fetched a quote for me on the same day, was nice a and simple and a reasonably priced offer
They advertise giving a quote in 2 minutes online. I put in my details (simple consultancy business - plain vanilla). Got a message that they cannot quote online and someone will call me. Nonsense. Seems a bit of a scam where they get you to provide all your details, which they capture, then say they CANNOT quote, and one gets bombarded with sales calls and emails. I have been there before. If you cannot quote for even a basic simple policy online, then why advertise that you can.

Absolute shocking customer service over the phone. Trying to arrange cover for my clients over in the US and spoken to like a piece dirt and also being spoken over whilst trying to explain the cover I require. I wish I had read these appalling reviews prior to calling them.

This is an awful company. I finally managed to cancel my policy last week but the promised refund of £ 130 has not arrived and their phone lines are down again
The worst kind of customer service

I've been with PolicyBee for a while and always found them to be excellent value and just nicer to deal with than the alternatives out there. Today, I needed to make a change to my policy and was able to do everything via their website - it was a fantastic process! Everything was transparent, customisable and extremely well-priced. I'll definitely be recommended PolicyBee if anyone asks - and will be renewing without a doubt.
Have been a customer of PolicyBee for 5 years, and this year has just been painful. The renewal process has taken 3 weeks, constantly told "I will send them across" or many other excuses then nothing.
They sent the documents over last week and they had the wrong address, that was Monday, still waiting for the right ones.
You can't backdate insurance, even though you used to be able to. You can't get insurance fast, even though you could previously. Excuse after excuse.
Currently at the 38 email mark and still don't have the right documentation to show to our clients who are requesting updated documents.
Will be looking elsewhere next year, a bit of a shame as they used to be great :(

I just had a lovely call with Catherine from PolicyBee and it was one of the best customer service experiences I've ever had. Setting up insurance can be such a confusing process but Catherine explained everything really clearly and helped me pick the right policy for my business. I'd definitely use PolicyBee again for any future insurance I need!
Easily contactable, friendly staff, really nice experience to talk to on the phone. On to my second year with policybee.
We are one of the (unfortunate) companies who need special insurance now to sell on Amazon US - "additional insured" is really an American insurance thing and most UK insurers don't even know about it, let alone offer it.
Not only did PolicyBee have a full and correct grasp of the issue, but their systems are great - when I phoned it automatically recognised the number so a basic "please confirm your name" and not the full 10-question interrogation you get from most companies to "identify yourself"!
As for the policy - well it provides the exact wording in a special document that exactly matches Amazon US's requirements, and the policy cost whilst not cheap was significantly lower than any other alternative quote I managed to obtain. Policy documents were sent through automatically within minutes and accepted by Amazon US first time (and anyone who deals with Amazon knows how incredible that is!!).
