You'll die of anticipation in age of AI taking over

Applied for a job.
Got the job after months of waiting with my own efforts and experience.
Was passed to an incompetent company known as Pontoon solutions / Adecco for background checks.
As many users have mentioned already prior to me.

AI driven.
Once a day mail.
No calls or responses from the agents at all.

I think is better if AI actually takes over everything.
Let's ride this journey together.
We humans are our own worst enemies anyway.

It's demonstrated with Pontoon solutions.

Don't hold your breath with this company. They're in no rush to get you employment at all.

Find your own path, keep contingency plan with Pontoon.

Emotionally draining

I have never felt the need to write a company review before, but my experience here has been so horrific that I felt I had to warn others.

This is the first time I’ve ever been pushed to this point.

The initial process was fine, the person who interviewed me for the role was great and I was successful in getting the job.

However, everything that followed has been a total nightmare. The background checking team is beyond difficult to work with. I have never experienced such a stressful process for references in any of my previous roles.

The communication is non existent. I have rang three separate times and was promised a call back every single time, I never received one.

When dealing with the Principal Onboarding Coordinator, I found that she only replies to one email per day. When I try to call to get a quicker answer, no one wants to talk or they are conveniently “busy with another client.”

My application has been ongoing since the 20th of November. It has been nearly a month and I still have no update on whether I can actually start or if the process is successful.

It has reached a point where I am genuinely concerned, if this is how they handle basic onboarding, I can only imagine how hard it would be to contact them if there was an issue with a payment.

It would have been significantly easier and faster to apply directly through the employer's website rather than using this recruitment agency.

The last few weeks have been incredibly draining and stressful for my wellbeing. I put so much effort into securing this job, only to be left in the dark for weeks.

I would strongly advise anyone to avoid this company unless you are absolutely stuck. Do not put yourself through the stress.

Don’t understand the 1 star reviews…

Was very scared looking at reviews, especially when they were majority 1/5 which had me thinking I was getting into something really shady but it has been the total opposite very clear quick communication , every phone call was greeted with really professional happy-friendly people, any questions I had with the recruitment process they were more than happy to help. All in all couldn’t fault them!

I was put forward for two interviews at…

I was put forward for two interviews at the same bank at two different departments, got ghosted on both of them.
One job was much lower than my previous salary. Another job they put my name forward I had no experience in (actually paid a good salary) but I was at a loss about why they wanted me to do it and of course I didn't get it. It was like they did not know what to do with me.

Unprofessional and Dissapointing Experience

Some weeks ago in October to November 2024, I applied for a job to work on a Mortgage desk with a well known high street lender. I had previously worked for this bank in 2023 although through a different recruitment consultant. The position I applied for was a new business position, as that's where my skill set lay and this was explained and discussed with one of their consultants. I proceeded to go through the process of interviewing and onboarding in a timely manner, roughly 6 weeks before the position was scheduled to start. I passed the interviews, and sent in all the particulars, and ID, and got the references they needed to start me on the due date that being the 11th November 2024. At the the time, I was in another position working on a fixed term contract with a well known IT brand which had still 3 months to run until January end 2025. However, after seeing the advert at Pontoon, I decided that I would leave my current position early in order to work with Mortgages, which is of a big interest to me, and I was quite excited about the new appointment start. So, I handed in my notice, and every few days I checked in with Pontoon and my current employer that references had been sent and everything was go swimmingly, in conjunction with liaising with the head of Pontoons onboarding team amongst others on the team. I am a diligent person, with fantastic references and never leave things to chance, so this was a way of assuring myself that there would be no mishaps or oversights from either side. Several days before the start of the appointment, I had called the onboarding team and spoke to the head of the team and told her everything had been sent and I was ready to start on the Monday. She agreed that was right, so I said I will await further instruction. On the Friday afternoon at 16.45pm. I got a call to say I wouldn't be starting on the the Monday. To cut a long story short, after several frantic phone calls that evening, the position I applied for had been filled by a number of candidates and I wasn't on the list, despite being reassured numerous time that I was!! Can you imagine on a Friday evening, being told you don't have the work you were promised, and to add insult to injury, I HAD LEFT A JOB with still 3 months to run on the contract! This was unbelievable. I escalated the situation to the managers, and again to cut a long story short on the Tuesday of the next week after speaking to them several times, they sent me an apologetic email stating that Communication flows between departments were the reason I was left off the list, and they have reviewed their operations so it never happens again. I am a fair guy, and note their failures and appreciate their honesty in writing to me in such a transparent way. I also appreciate they did try to offer me another position, but this wasn't in my area of interest, and it was an original position of work which I had previously turned down, and as stated right at the start of the process, I don't want that position, I would sooner stay where I am. Any way in summary, I haven't heard from them since, and I was going to report them to the inspectorate as its completely wrong what happened, as not only did they have to credit check and DBS check me, I had also to endure the long winded process, and then get left at the end of all of this without a job, and so near to Christmas! The only thing I can say is although they have assured me of their practice appraisals, I wouldn't take the chance and apply with is agency, as there are so many very good agencies out there. Moreover, in contrast to that, So many others preceding myself have had a terrible experience with Pontoon. The fact is, if you leave your job, and then get called on a Friday afternoon that there's not a position for you, can you imagine the weekend my partner and I had. Its was terrible. Don't do it to yourself. My own opinion is, they just want numbers to fill the positions, tell you what you want to hear do all the checks, and any potential candidates over discard at will. Please go else where.

Pontoon are the worst agency!

Pontoon are the worst agency I have ever come across and that is saying something after nearly 30 years of contracting. They ghost me, when I call everyone is always busy and when I request a call back they promise to do so but never. I can’t get an answer out of them for confirmation of screening complete or start date. I’m feed up after 4 weeks. Time to look elsewhere.

Horrible experience

Absolutely scam agency. The agency had offered me an offer which I have to start on 29th October. They confirmed it on 18 Oct and started background checks everything I did what they asked me to do. They called me multiple times and almost forced me to resign my current job. They gave me the details for induction class on 28 th Oct but after couple of minutes later without any reason they said they cannot offer role. How the heck will it work. Believing this agency I have resigned my current job and I am jobless now. The attitude of the agent when I called to know reason is horrible. Absolutely horrible experience don't fall for this agency

Unprofessional staff, uninterested attitude

Got a job through this agency a few years ago and, although the job itself was great and with a good employer, the agency and its representatives were illusive and uninterested in any issues during my tenure of employment.

Getting a reference through Pontoon was unnecessarily difficult and cumbersome, with them initially claiming to have never heard of me - even though I worked contracts for over a year through them.

At the beginning of this year, I was contacted by them again and an interview for another job was set up - a different individual agent to previously; again, the individual agent was illusive and non-responsive and, once the interview was arranged, simply ghosted me - never picked up the phone nor responded to emails.

I received an automated response saying feedback from the interview was available, yet I never heard from the agent again - despite emailing them directly twice to request feedback, as I was advised this was available upon request.

Finally, I tried to use the 'contact us' section of their website to ask what was going on / request feedback and it didn't work - nor did the general agency number for me to even report this problem to them.

Truly pathetic and extremely unprofessional.

Absolutely terrible agency that does not pay on time

Absolutely terrible temporary worker agency. They sometimes do not pay on time which amounts to slave labour. I know people who have worked through Pontoom and missed a mortgage payment and had their credit rating cut because Pontoon did not pay the on time. Lot of people refuse to work for Poncetoon. AVOID as dangerous for your credit rating.
