The team were very pleasant and reassuringly efficient. I would happily recommend them to anyone needing legal advice.
Worst service ever
They were allocated by the mortgage company. We received our initial documents on 6 March and have returned everything to them on 7 March.
Have been emailing and calling since 19 March for an update but cannot speak to the solicitor. Have been told that they have received all our documents and the solicitor will be in touch, but to date, NOTHING!! Every time we phoned for an update we are told that they are extremely busy and will get back to us and working on documents in date order. When asked what date they are working on, they can't tell us. Absolutely ridiculous!!! It is almost a month since they had the documents and NO communication

Poole Alcock LLP Solicitors
Georgina was friendly and communicated well.
Have decades of experience with Poole Alcock and they have never disappointed.
I find the Government dictated ID checks intrusive, time consuming, and ultimately pointless ( like most ill thought out Government diktats).
Even “regular” customers aren’t allowed to proceed without going through them again and again. This isn’t a criticism of Poole Alcock, all professions and financial institutions seem caught in this trap.
Maybe the professions should fight back and try and inject an element of common sense.
Dealing with local offices is a preference for me where one can
Form a relationship over the years.
It also means I can deal in “paper” - I am of the older generation and am computer adverse.
Poole Alcock have a sizeable chain of offices making this possible and are happy to indulge me.

Quite a Few Problems - Cannot Recommend
There is a long list of problems that made working with Poole Alcock difficult and unproductive, in my case with Chloe's team. Amongst other factors, this led to the seller of the target property to abort the sale (before I could convince him to go on). Here some overview:
- In the final transaction documents, two mistakes were made back to back. The first were GBP 80 of fees that were redundant and wrongfully added to the bill and the second an understatement of the stamp duty of around GBP 4,000
- Communication was often lacklustre and emails not replied to - if you don't call them yourself directly, don't expect to hear back before two weeks
- I put together a list of open points that I wanted to be addressed, such as issues pointed out in the survey. Two of them remained simply not answered or addressed by Chloe's team even though I sent reminders of the outstanding tasks and status updates
- At some point in the process, progress halted. It was only after asking several times that I was told that a "risk committee" had to take a decision - there was no warning that a 3 weeks delay was impending, no real explanation what this committee was doing, or meaningful updates during the 3 weeks delay that would help me or the seller to understand what was happening. This led the seller to abort the process as mentioned earlier
- In the process of getting a mortgage, a 3rd party solicitor needed to put a stamp on the application and assert I understood the terms of the mortgage. Although it was briefly mentioned in some of the documents, I had wrongly assumed that Chloe's team was a 3rd party solicitor, but actually another team of solicitors were needed for the stamp. After asking Chloe if somebody within Poole Alcock could do this, I heard back and the service was offered to me for GBP 500. This is a higher hourly salary than the most sophisticated lawyers in New York would dare to ask for (I had to go somewhere else in the end)
- I give Poole Alcock 2 stars because they admittedly always picked up the phone and never gave up. I am grateful for that
Overall the transaction did not happen.
Exceptional service
Every Poole & Alcock member of staff I spoke to was fantastic. Clear, really fast to respond, polite and empathetic. During a stressful time I felt I was in good hands and proactively kept informed along the way.

Very efficient and personable experience with my rundundancy settlement agreement. Everyone who I spoke to was lovely, very professional and very responsive. My solicitor was very knowledgeable and gave a lot of good professional advice, and some useful opinions too. A very satisfactory experience.
I had an extremely disappointing…
I had an extremely disappointing experience with Poole Alcock Law Firm. I initially chose this firm for my C100, C1A, and prohibition steps order application, expecting transparency, professionalism, and a clear fee structure. Unfortunately, I felt misled throughout the entire process.
Before I signed on, I was assured by multiple staff members that I would be informed about any payments prior to work being carried out and that they would operate on a fixed-fee basis. However, once I joined, this was not the case. I began receiving unexpected invoices without prior notice or explanation. Initially, the staff seemed friendly, but once I started questioning these payments, their demeanor changed drastically. They became rude, dismissive, and refused to take my concerns seriously.
When I escalated the matter, I was told by a new member of staff that the investigation into my complaint would be fair and unbiased. Unfortunately, the outcome of that investigation did not address any of my concerns, leaving me feeling completely unheard. As a result, I have taken my complaint to the Legal Ombudsman and am currently awaiting their response.
Ultimately, I was charged £10,000 for services that did not meet my expectations, and I believe there are far more transparent and cost-effective firms available. The added stress of dealing with this situation, especially while trying to resolve child arrangements, has only further compounded the emotional strain I was already experiencing. Instead of focusing on my child arrangements, I have been forced to dedicate time and energy to chasing up invoices and writing complaints.
Given my experience, I cannot recommend this firm to anyone. There are definitely better options available that prioritize transparency and professionalism.

I contacted Jamie and his team (Kellie) for advice around an employment issue after researching different employment law specialists. I was not disappointed. I was given very clear information on my options during a teams meeting and Jamie got everything signed sealed and delivered that same day. Highly recommend.

To be honest one star would be far too many wish I could give none. Please don't use this company. They are useless. They never put you through to who you want to speak to. You can never speak to who you want to. If you put a complaint in they blame it on you. Money grabbers. No sympathy for a person who's been abused. Caused me more stress and issues. Very unsupportive. Only in it for the money. Had 2 barristers cancel on me less than 24 hours before a court case. Shocking do not use.
Absolutely appalling service from the…
Absolutely appalling service from the Andover branch, our chain is currently on the verge of collapse due to poor communication and expectation setting of timeframes. Our exchange deadline was set on the 9th January and we are still told daily that Poole Alcock are not ready but should be the next day, that then continues to slip again. Our completion date is now 5 days away and likely to be missed. No empathy has been shown to anyone in the chain who are all experiencing a huge amount of stress as a result plus the significant costs incurred for wasted removal services.

Highly recommend Poole Alcock
I recently contacted Poole Alcock for assistance for my elderly father to arrange his will. Claire Ellis was fabulous, she was so understanding and respectful of my father and myself and her knowledge regarding the best way to handle things was superb. I was so impressed with the service that I transferred mine and my husband’s wills to Poole Alcock for Claire to oversee.
