A very simple design, consisting of 3 pieces of moulded white plastic (uPVC?) with a black film coating that slot together, and three small strips of velcro (one on each piece). The two side pieces don't attach to the rear of the monitor properly because the device is not designed for monitors with a curved back (which most are). So the side Velcro doesn't adhere properly or support the side pieces properly. To take the weight of the item, two pieces of Velcro are needed on each side, at the top and bottom, rather than one piece in the middle. The top piece, because it overhangs (in order to shade the screen from bright light), is also not sufficiently secured with one short piece of Velcro and keeps tipping forward. I have made it work by adding more Velcro, but it was a lot of hassle. The black film coating comes away too easily as well. The packaging was pretty basic, too - a cardboard box outer with the three pieces of plastic inside with a bit of bubble wrap. Overall it is functional, now that I have jury-rigged it with extra Velcro, but at £45 it is very expensive for what it is, in my view.

This simple idea, of a hood around the monitor screen, makes a big difference. The hood minimises distractions around screen monitor and, especially important in my case, minimises glare from fluorescent lights. I use it in conjunction with other products to reduce glare and distraction, such as a cap and anti-glare screen and a tint on prescription spectacles. I was surprised at how effective this product is even when used in isolation from other aids. I noticed a considerable reduction in eye strain, headaches, loss of concentration and fatigue, so enabling me to work more productively and with less risk to health from current office environment.
