Check Your Receipt

I bought some canned beans and corn, all at different prices. At checkout, the barcode on the cheapest can wasn’t scanning, so the cashier just scanned the more expensive one instead. When I checked my receipt and noticed the mistake, I asked for a refund, but he refused, saying the price had gone up.

I stood my ground and asked him to check the prices. When he came back, he admitted I was right—but then said he still couldn’t refund me because he needed another team member, and there were only two of them working. It felt like he just didn’t want to deal with it.

Eventually, I did get my refund, but the whole experience was frustrating. A cashier should know the prices, take the time to scan items properly, and handle refunds without making the customer jump through hoops.

Don't refuse your receipt you might need it

Bought a faulty £1.50 for the love of gardening hand trowel from which snapped the first time used trying to plant a small clematis in compost. Took said trowel back in as new condition and said would prefer a refund as faulty. On purchasing only offered a receipt rather than giving you your purchase receipt so did not have one only £1.50 didn't bother. It was a £1.50 purchase !! aggrieved at behaviour of store assistant who denied a refund reluctantly agreed to replace although we did not want another one and felt like a nuisance customer. So if you do shop here insist on having your receipt and to Poundstretcher in case of a problem stop trying to save money on your till rolls give your customers the proof of purchase they clearly need in the event of a problem however small the cost so faulty goods can be refunded without surly attitudes of your staff it is not the customers fault and not good customer service.
