Old dated and dirty. I’m here now and trying to get as much leave as possible
I’m currently in the hospital with my bipolar and eating disorders and thought I’d write down my experience so far. So on Monday I asked about clean sheets as I’d been sweating during the night. I was literally handed the sheets by the housekeeper who said she didn’t have time. Failing thst ask a nurse. As I was making my bed I spotted the mould around my widows. Funnily enough I’ve needed an Inhaler since I’ve been here. I decided to clean myself and you can see the results in the pictures. I was told by the maintenance guy it was just dust (yet he couldn’t remove it with out a mould free spray) I self harm but always bandage it up I asked again for clean sheets and these were just dumped on my. On the top of the wardrobe was disgusting caked which dust, again bad for the chest there was also 6 coat hangers which when I was firstly admitted I wa have been tempted to use to hang myself with there’s a live a snack cupboard with is useful to me being bulimic. It’s pot luck if there’s anything in there. The therapy’s are amazing. What I’d most frightened the staff agree!!!
This company ruined my career but unfairly dismissing me due to being unable to be vaccinated. I stuck to all lock down rules but due to medical reasons I was unable to be vaccinated. So I was sacked and even though the rules changed I was never offered my job back even though others were. I have now had my career in mental health ruined a career that is close to my heart which I was very good at. I advise anyone to stay clear of this company no understanding no remorse and have no idea how to treat the staff. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING BEHAVIOUR this dismissal was in 2021
Our child was admitted here recently & we have spent the last month desperately trying to get them out, what an absolutely barbaric place! She has been locked in her room for last 2 wks,no access to fresh air or her own clothes,we have been refused access to see her,she has autism.
She went in voluntarily & within 6 days was sectioned, they were injecting her and restraining her, she's covered in bruises, has been laughed at,thrown across the floor, trodden on,clothes cut up Infront of her, told to go on leave and not come back. The managing director called her a dick for self harming!
On transfer to her new ward she was so heavily drugged she could barely walk, eyes were rolling, tongue hanging out, drooling ,couldn't get a sentence out to speak to us and collapsed into our arms sobbing.
We will NEVER forgive this god awful place for what they have put our child through, needs closing down and fully investigating
I was an in patient at the priory a few years ago. I was not told at any point in time before going that they follow closely the AA model to battle drug addiction, and if they had I likely wouldn't have gone as I already had some understanding of AA and fundamentally disagreed with their approach. Mostly on the basis that AA insist that you should relinquish your own sense of self control over addiction because an "addict" can't control themselves. However, I had already made some pretty impressive moves in terms of coming off of a long heroin addiction and had done so by telling myself that I was the only one who could gain control of my problem. They flat out told me I must be lying about my accomplishment. I honestly believe that they knew full well not to mention AA as it probably puts people off going, but they wanted my money.
When I arrived and they suddenly told me straight off the bat that it was an AA programme I told them I wanted to leave, which I was well within my right to do, but they convinced me to give it a go, at my expense of course. As I desperately wanted help to get over the last hurdle of the pysical addiction to heroin that I still had, I conceded due to their methods of using the other patients to peer pressure me. More fool me eh?
I ended up doing the whole 28 days. I was so greatful that the heroin was finally out of my system, and I still am. So thank you for that I guess. But in the end it was mostly just a place to go where I couldn't buy drugs no matter how bad the withdrawals felt. I did the real work on my own. Made harder by being forced into long meetings in a freezing cold room during the height of winter. Did you know cults try to keep their victims hot or cold during long meetings because it lowers their mental defenses?
I was told during my assessment that I would receive extensive mental health help, which I also needed at the time, and that my psychiatrist would essentially be on call for me 24 hours a day. In the end I only saw my psychiatrist for about 2 or 3 minutes at a time maybe once a week and no psychiatrist was there past normal working hours.
Like I said before it was mostly the other patients that made me want to stay. They literally weaponised them against me every time I took issue with the organisation. Like a cult does.
When I denied stating that I was an addict at the start of meetings because I was proud of how far I came and didn't want to be thrown in the same basket as their ideas of all addicts being the same they got the other patients to tell me "hey we're all saying it. Just say it even if you don't believe it". And in the end I would say it out of fear of insulting my peers.
After the first week I tried to leave again because I felt like I was over the hump and wanted to save myself £15,000 and was confident in my own ability to abstain from drugs. They of course convinced me that I was wrong, foolish, arrogant and in denial. And whats worse, insulting the other patients who were there struggling.
So I stayed the rest of the course, got nothing more out of it and they got my money.
I'm writing this so many years after because I can now say in confidence and with time on my side that I have not once done heroin again. I went to one or two outpatient AA meetings since leaving. Meetings that they convinced me I would have to attend the rest of my life in order to stay clean. In all honestly I've done a bit of cocaine a few times on nights out with friends, another thing they said was impossible for me to do without immediately falling into some kind of long drug binge after. But i did it and then went on with my life. A weaker mind might actually believe them and what would have been a one off could turn into full blown relapse. All so they can keep their unwavering faith in their system.
Point being - I did things before I went to The Priory that they argued were literally impossible for me to do. I've done things since that they said were impossible. Well here I am. You were wrong. And you wasted my time and money just to push your product on someone who never wanted it and was too polite to tell you were you can stick it. Worst £20,000 spent ever.
I set the date on here as today because the calendar doesnt go back far enough.
Ruined my sister’s life. ATP programme involved her being taken to AA meetings which are free followed AA punitive cruel programme. 3 months later an inpatient in the wonderful nhs following an overdose. Money motivated all thd way
I was an inpatient on the ATP ward for the 28days the beginning of the year. This program was truly the biggest gift i couldn't have had the privilege of been offered. Not only has it given my recovery a solid start but just being in "The Priory" surrounded by people who genuinely care and understand, has given me a greater understanding of my condition and also guidance of how to move forward and enjoy life on life's terms. I entered "The Priory" completely broken and lost but left with hope and confidence .
I want to especially thank the ward staff for all their commitment and love during a very tough time and the therapists for their insight and help.
I also want to take the opportunity to thank my wonderful therapist, Talid, who has guided me and helped me discovering my "True Self".
I will forever be grateful to "The Priory". All that was offered to me is truly beyond expectation and has given me a second chance in life.
Thank you all for all your dedication and hard work.
Absolutely shocking level of care and expertise. Most of the addiction treatment comes from non-qualified members of recovery groups! The resident doctor is part time and flies in from Eastern Europe?! The orderlies have no care experience whatsoever.
I HAVE JUST BEEN IN CALL QUEUE FOR 1 HOUR AND 58 MINUTES TO BE CUT OFF!!!!!!!!!
After years waiting for CAHMs for assessment of our child with ADHD, we finally decided to go private as we really needed/still need help. We paid over £500 for a video call and pretty much the next couple of days the psychiatrist called in sick indefinitely. Albeit they did give a diagnosis, this is pretty much useless as they have now referred us to somewhere else where more than likely we will have to pay for another initial assessment. We will be looking for a refund if this is the case.
Spent a long time as an in patient and it was terrible staff sleeping on the job no compassion from the staff all patients left freely to do what they wanted ,most left un checked when on observation close call of suicide attempts frequently how its not been closed down I don't know. Some staff are OK but others a power trip .as for the company well they need too stop taking so much money off the nhs as they do nothing for patients with it it's all in their pockets.worse place ever.
I take it this is part if Priory Adult Care. You have a registered care manager telling a blatant lie about me. She claimed I called her to cancel a shift which is not true and told the agency to bar me from the entire group. How can a registered manager who is responsible for vulnerable do such a thing. She has ruined my job and I'd rather leave care because when they are not able to tell the truth on something so silly what will they do if something terrible happens. CQC will also know about this.
My close friend has told me this is NOT the place to go if you have a sex or porn addiction. The ward that patients stay on is mixed (males & females) and just full of temptations. Both men and women have a lot of free time together especially late night, no monitoring carried out by staff or room checks. They allow you to access a TV in main lounge alone and in bedrooms that hold live TV channels and movies that have intense sex scenes. They also allow in patients to go out alone as and when the patient wishes to, now that's fantastic considering the patient is dealing with a sex or porn addiction (even concerns for gambling/drug/alcohol addictions). They have no parental locks on their WiFi for any porn sites so can be used freely by an inpatient or even guests. Avoid at all costs, as my friend has had more issues and worries since the partner was in the priory than before going in. The way the priory works is not well thought out for addictions of this sort and if you want a broken relationship due a risk of your partner cheating whilst in rehab then yes the priory would have a massive success rate due to this. Any concerns raise it with the priory first but hearing the challenges my friend has experienced I would strongly advise not to waste your money on a place that doesn't even have basis settings in place. Good luck!
Worst service ever! Asked for treatment prices. Repeatedly ignored my emails and then dismissed me out of hand. Useless service from inept staff.
Nobody believed me about mu medical History, which had been deleted in error by the GP in 2013 when they could not find a code for my extremely rare condition which occurs in 1 in 500,000 to 1 in a million cases. The Doctor lied to the Tribunal which was held on zoom saying that I handled Client money, which was untrue. My brothers had lied to our father and their Solicitors, and to pull off their attempt to seize the whole estate, had to prevent me from speaking to Dad. I told the doctors this was what was truly going on and was not believed. So far my Solicitors bill exceeds 10k. I was telling the truth the whole time but not believed. There was not a single incidence of me being a risk to myself or others. The staff were bullies, withheld my pain relief for over 10 hours, burst into the bathroom while I was trying to defacate. I was locked in a room with the window screwed shut and the central heating jammed on with a loo blocked for a whole weekend, They lied about me having permission for escorted leave weeks before it ever happened. I had performed in the Royal Albert Hall as a singer, and they asked me to prove it, then wrote up me singing as if it was evidence of me being mentally unstable. The solicitor who got me out knew there was no proof that would hold water to continue to detain me. I complained by email attaching the proof of the above, they refused to answer instead they contacted the emergency mental health response unit where I live, when I spoke to them I asked them to check my SYSTMONE record, they now can see I was telling the truth. Priory group are not accountable to the NHS trusts. The CQC inspections have rated them badly.
Priory Hospital Solihull has a fantastic team helping provide care and support to people experiencing mental health problems. Both private and NHS funded patients benefit from the holistic, responsive, caring, and highly professional team there . The leadership is fantastic. Our relative has been in various mental health facilities over several years with variable sucess, however the progress he has made at Priory in 6 months has been remarkable. We hugely appreciate the care given to our relative, and the support we have experienced as a family overall from every single member of staff . The whole team has been fantastic.
Thankyou
Appalling experience in 2021
Treated like of inmates from a correction centre with absolutely no respect
Communication between the professionals poor
Totally unsympathetic with our symptoms particularly with depression
Avoid at all costs particularly Working who I never met such unprofessional behaviour
Drug you, dope you out, treat us like inmates as opposed to patients.
I understand the staff safety come first. But I am harmless and still get forded to get dipped out. I need the help out someone with great influence
I have just completed 28 days at the Priory Southgate. I cannot thank them all for the amazing treatment and warmth all the staff showed me. Within a week I had a diagnosis of complex post traumatic disorder, and severe insomnia. I have now been home 2 days and very happy to say still sleeping well. Also all the therapies have given me great coping mechanisms. My room was very nice, cleaners cleaned daily. My consultant was the medical director , who was such a warm welcoming gentleman who listened to my every need and ensured I received everything I need to go forward in life. He is also arranging outpatient appointments for me to ensure I stay on the write path. Cannot thanks them enough. I also made many friends for life. Many thanks Dawn Percivaldi January 2023
Working for the priory group was the worst working experience of my life. Nicola atkins the manager has known about lazy staff sleeping and playing games on there computer all night and not done anything about it whilst firing the best staff. I have also been told of illegal bad practices that she has done as manager there.
I called the priory to enquire for an individual and the assessment over the phone was a joke. The so called “qualified” individual that called me back had a poor phone manner and didn’t know how to conduct the call. Considering they are looking for 25,000 for a possible month detox, and that he was the voice for the company, don’t bother.
