Keep up the good work!
I’ve had a subscription running for many years and I’m pleased to continue to support Private Eye. They are a good source of alternative viewpoints and information when compared to the mainstream media, and whether you agree with them or not, it’s important that we still hear these voices.
In a country where reasoned argument seems to get shouted down, I value having a place where different viewpoints can be put forward and explored.
If your own views are so fragile and uninformed that they are at risk from the contents of this publication, then I would suggest that it is not the publication that needs to do the work necessary to address this.
Awful unfactual stories

This is a comic at best and written by people investing stories to sell a few copies and con a few subscribers. Take a look at their history and journalists and make your own mind up. Don’t give them your money!

Political bias
Stopped buying this rag after the appallingly bias coverage of covid regulations and directions given under direction by Mr Johnson and his cronies. Thought I’d give it another go and bought the December issue to read on a long flight as I can no longer read the bias crap printed in main stream media. I was hoping that Private Eye would have realised the error of there ways and now give an unbiased opinion on articles relating to covid. Sadly after getting past the pages of irrelevant adverts I was confronted by the first two pages of articles. All the covid related ones were extremely biased and the final straw was the comic strip on the 3rd page, the punchline being that anyone questioning government policy is a moron. I stopped reading there and threw this rag in the recycling where it belongs. I will never make the mistake and buy this crap again
Very poor delivery with subscription
Very poor delivery with subscription. I expect the magazine to arrive on a Wednesday or Thursday if it's late but often it does not arrive until the following week. I can read it in that case on a Saturday in the library without the cost of a subscription. A couple of times the magazine has not arrived at all and in that instance you can't report a missing issue until Monday of the following week and the option then is a replacement issue which will not arrive until the week after, when the next issue is due.
Overall I wish I'd never subscribed as cancelling is a hassle too.
Obfustication
I saw an advert offering a years subscription to Private Eye, offering 10 free Christmas cards. When they did not arrive I sent a querie...only to be told the offer was only for direct debit subscriptions. I found the advert I responded to, which clearly offered the cards with the subscription I responded to..not via direct debit. I sent a photo of it to PE. Next reply from PE told me the offer was only from November......complete goal post move..nothing at all about timing in the advert I responded to. PE is brilliant at pointing out untruths.. so I raise my eyebrows,,,pretty poor experience..I wonder if trading standards would be interested?
Terrible subscription delivery problems
I've had a subscription for over 20 years. In the last few years delivery has got increasingly erratic. I'd estimate 1 in every 4 issues doesn't arrive. For example I haven't received the last 2 issues.
If you send an email complaining, the best that will happen is you'll get a back issue through the post a couple of weeks later, but which time 90% of the topical content is out of date and not worth reading.
I'm not sure how they can get it so badly wrong. I don't have problems with any other subscriptions or mail in general.
I refer to your magazine number 1545
I refer to your magazine number 1545. The picture on the front page was disgraceful. The country was in mourning during this week for the sad death of Prince Philip. He hadn't even had his funeral. How can you be so disrespectful to a man who has served this country for 70 plus years and so disrespectful to our Queen who was in mourning. Shame on you
The End
Finally reached the point where I cannot read the tiny font in the magazine. Can I cancel the subscription? Nope. I can pause it, I can redirect to another address, but no cancel. Big red SCAM warning flag in my world!! Furthermore, this is one of the very few websites I am unable to access with my VPN enabled = yet another big red flag. No one in 2021 can be this bad ... or can they?
Trying to set up a gift subscription…
Trying to set up a gift subscription (and subscribe myself) but can never complete.
I’ve been waiting over 3 days for a response to my email requesting a solution - perhaps they’re just not interested or don’t care.
Is Dido Harding running it?
No answers
Where do I start. Tried to place an order as a gift but on completion of the order the delivery address changed to the billing address. However I received no confirmation of the order and after four phone calls and one unanswered email,I asked for my £36 payment to be refunded. Further Email not answered and payment not refunded several days later. Useless website. I could pay a subscription via PayPal but could not use PayPal to buy a folder to store the magazines. Phone call number 5 tomorrow. Very polite on the phone but totally useless in terms of resolving the issues.
Private Eye supporter
I opened a subscription at the beginning of lockdown and the magazine arrives without fail every fortnight. If government checked with Private Eye before they made honour awards, awarded contracts to their mates without due process, appointed people to positions who had failed in previous positions, one would not get the impression that they are basically incompetant. Private Eye provides a balance to other organs of the media. Keep up the good work. Nothing they have done or said yet minds me to cancel my subscription.
Editors scared of a possible Communist government go left wing to appease them
The cowardly editors of Private Eye obviously scared in case the Communist party aka Labour Party gets into government. Not one anti-Corbin cartoon, but a huge amount of anti-Boris Johnson cartoons and even one anti-Jo Swinson one. This comic has become a voice for the far left, obviously trying to appease them.
A great magazine totally ruined by poor service
A great magazine totally ruined by using the world's most incompetent partner company for managing their subscriptions.
They have failed to deliver 3 of the last 7 issues (and I am still awaiting the latest issue without much hope). To make it worse, they are extremely poor at responding to any complaints. Then last week they were offline for a whole week while they had a system upgrade.
Dissapointing
So i ordered a subscription on the 8th December as a Christmas Present for my elderly father. I got an email confirmation immedietely. 3rd week of Jan and Januarys edition did not arrive neither did the Christmas Cards. As a result my dad had to purchase Januarys. I work as a nurse on Long Days so was unable to call. I emailed the subscription email twice with zero response after a week.
On 31st Jan i eventually i rang them and got through to Suzanne. She was very pleasant and helpful and confirmed the payment hadn't gone through. She stated there were no christmas cards left and i would have to pay the full £34.00 now (even though i would not get Jan's edition) I did so as i was keen to get my dad's subscription sorted. I asked for this to be escalated to someone as i was very dissapointed with Private Eye. It is 6th Feb now and still no compensation or explanation... They don't look after their customers.
False Promises, Poor IT Support, Very Poor Customer Services
Very unfriendly & unhelpful customer service, Inability of IT in company to provide online account, false promises on their website and unable to deliver the product as per their agreed dates. Buyers beware!
The site stated 25th Dec as the first subscription date and the next as the 8th Jan. I signed up for the 25th Dec for xmas present with assumption one will go before or just after that date. I tried to sign in and check and found it did not work.
I was told they had IT problems for the last week or so and no resolution available to login online.
Then i was told the website is wrong and there will be no issues in December (as the shops are closed at xmas) and the next is January 8th (Even though it took my money for Dec).
With the annoyed attitude of the customer services rep on top of the other issues I asked for a refund and a confirmation mail for this and was told they do not do confirmation mails for refunds and cancellations. So now left with phoning the bank and placing a complaint process with them as I am unsure if it has really been cancelled based on the above.
