Do not go with this surveyor. he did a survey on house we wanted to buy and concluded that there was no damp or mould at all. When we moved in, we quickly realised this was not true. This is our porch now 7 months in. This is AFTER plastering over what we were told was surface mould and was “not rising damp”. We got him out for a 2nd time to ask why he said there was no damp in the house when the current state is like this and he blamed it on us and said we don’t heat the house enough or let heat into the porch. We’ve used small electric heaters in there for days at a time (which cost a bomb) and even an industrial dehumidifier which was kindly borrowed to us by the 2nd surveyor who genuinely felt sorry for our situation and said this should have been picked up MONTHS ago. The mould has now spread to both bedrooms and the bathroom. We wouldn’t have bought this house if that was the case. We’ve had another damp specialist come out who laughed out loud when I showed him Robert’s email stating the mould was our fault. He said if he has any proper equipment or knows anything about damp/mould he would’ve spotted this from a mile off. He used the same little machine that Robert used and his was beeping like crazy the second the door opened whereas Robert’s didn’t beep at all, even when he was pressing it right next to a mould patch. I’m disgusted and so upset that he’s given us a false report which now has resulted in me getting ill from the mould, us having to knock our porch down and rebuild it in the summer which we have had to get a loan out for the money and now having to use the back conservatory as our front door because it’s too bad to stand in even for a second. DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY.

Had a L3 Homebuyers survey conducted by ProEnergis at the end of last year. ProEnergis told me that the electrical meter box was in an inside cupboard, when it was actually located in a different building(!). This mistake cost us £2.6k in meter relocation fees. ProEnergis admitted their mistake after our complaint, but did nothing to rectify the situation as they claimed it should have been picked up by other parties as well. Why bother paying a surveyor to do the job then?!

Lazy, objectively inaccurate reporting from a surveyor who just passes the buck instead of making things right. Avoid at all costs.

(On an important note, ProEnergis use CEDR instead of an ombudsman in their complaints process. CEDR’s Google reviews suggest they’re not impartial at all, and ProEnergis charges you £500 to raise a complaint if CEDR find no wrongdoing.)

I had a housing survey completed prior to purchase I found Proenergis to be really professional, quick to respond to questions and also great at communicating in a way I understood. The survey was thorough and easy to understand

Even after the survey they have been helping with additional questions and advice / suggesting experts/contacts for additional work required.
