Melts Plastic

Re: Micromot 60E drill
Be aware that the minimum rotational speed of these is 5,000 rpm. (It has to be, so I am told by Proxxon, in order to cool the motor.) If you drill at least some plastics at this speed they melt and then congeal and harden around the drill bit. You then have to carefully scrape it off, trying to avoid breaking the (0.5mm diameter) bit. I am not impressed by this given the drill is supposed to be for modelling.
We need a version that has a much lower speed.

Beware this proud 'German' manufacturer…

Beware this proud 'German' manufacturer who actually manufactures in China and God-knows-where and they are not man enough to put the country of manufacture on their units. Proxxon UK, I for one will never buy your tools again. I would rather do without.

Refused Refund Despite Proof of Return – Hostile Response from Company President Robert Trost

I placed an order with Proxxon Inc. but changed my mind after reading multiple reviews — including on Reddit — about a white smoke issue affecting the product. I refused UPS delivery (a consumer right), but the package was still delivered two days later. I never opened it.

After four failed UPS pickup attempts, I returned the item myself to a UPS Store. I provided Proxxon with:

A drop-off receipt

The UPS store number

The store address and manager's contact info

And multiple email updates explaining the situation in full

I remained polite and professional throughout. Despite all this, Proxxon refused to issue a refund, stating I would have to wait for UPS to reimburse them first. That’s not how returns or consumer rights are supposed to work.

The most disturbing part of this experience came when I received a response from Robert Trost, President of Proxxon Inc., who wrote:

> “If you want to move forward with ‘legal action’ that is your prerogative. In my opinion this is a case of ‘blame someone else for the mess I created.’”

I was stunned. That email was dismissive, unprofessional, and completely unfair — especially after I provided full documentation and followed every proper step.

I’ve since filed formal complaints with the FTC, Better Business Bureau, and the Texas Attorney General’s office, and initiated a bank dispute.

I am posting this to warn other customers: If you have an issue, don’t expect Proxxon to handle it with fairness or respect. I hope no one else has to go through this.
