I have found the house inspections to be unsatisfactory and not conducted professionally. During inspections, whenever I raised concerns about maintenance issues, I was often told to arrange the repairs ourselves and that I would be reimbursed later.
Unfortunately, even small issues have remained unresolved for months. For example, the toilet seat in the property has not been repaired despite being reported over six
months ago.
In addition, there was a serious issue with rats in the property. It took several emails and phone calls before the matter was finally checked and addressed. A pest problem is a significant concern that should be dealt with promptly, and I was disappointed by the lack of urgency and communication throughout the process.
I have been living in New Zealand for eight years and have rented several properties during this time. I have experienced many routine inspections, but I have never had an agent wake up a tenant who was sleeping after a night shift. I found this behaviour inconsiderate and unhelpful, especially when tenants' work schedules and privacy should be respected.
Overall, I expected better communication, timely maintenance, and a more respectful approach towards tenants. My experience has been disappointing, and I hope improvements are made in the future.
