0 Stars. Purchased a Jaguar, Ended Up in Court
I purchased a Jaguar outright from Quality Cars Today on 17 June 2025. Just four days later, while driving to work, I heard a loud pop and suddenly saw flames coming from the rear of the vehicle. I safely pulled over, but the car was filled with smoke and completely unsafe to drive.
I immediately contacted the dealership and was advised to get the car diagnosed. I explained that I wanted Jaguar to inspect it because I trusted their specialists, and the representative (“R.N.”) agreed. Jaguar later told me over the phone, after asking several questions, “DO NOT TURN THAT CAR BACK ON” due to the severity of the issue.
The vehicle was recovered and eventually inspected by Jaguar. I then received a report showing over £4,500 worth of repairs, including injector failure, catalytic converter replacement, coolant leak repairs, and further exhaust investigations.
When I sent the report to Quality Cars Today, they acknowledged the diagnostic but refused to properly resolve the issue. They wanted me to pay out of pocket and stated they would not carry out all repairs recommended by Jaguar specialists. At that point, I formally notified them the vehicle was “not fit for purpose” within my legal timeframe.
Over the following months, I experienced constant delays, pressure, and attempts to avoid responsibility. Despite repeatedly saying they would collect the vehicle, they never properly dealt with Jaguar directly. Throughout the process, I kept everything documented in writing.
After seeking legal advice, I was repeatedly told this was a very straightforward case under consumer law. However, the dealership continued resisting repayment and tried to claim I was withholding the vehicle, which was completely untrue.
Eventually, I took the matter to court in February 2026. On the court date, the judge reviewed all evidence and attempted to contact the dealership, who did not answer. The judge was highly critical of their conduct and even stated the car sold to me was “a pup” (his exact words). He also noted from the email evidence that I had been bullied throughout the process.
I won the case decisively. The court awarded me my money back, additional costs, and interest dating back to June 2025.
My advice to anyone dealing with serious issues after purchasing from this dealership: know your consumer rights and keep EVERYTHING in writing. Documentation was critical in my case.
In my personal opinion, I would never use this company again. This was by far the worst dealership experience I have ever had.
