Poor Customer Service

Extremely poor customer service. Need at least one hour to ask a simple question. Whenever you try get to them you are placed 80-100 in the queue. When you eventually get through it is like extracting teeth to get the specific answer. What makes is worse when waiting in the queue, if you don’t respond to there “are you still there?” Question then they drop the chat and you have to start all over again, so you have to remain attentive for the full wait, often the client service rep disappears for three min.

Inefficient Customer Service and Fund Withdrawal Process at Questrade

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with Questrade's customer service, specifically regarding their hotline support and fund withdrawal process. The experience was marred by significant delays and a lack of clear communication.

Despite my expectations for a straightforward withdrawal process, it took 5 business days to receive my funds, with Questrade requesting additional information without clear justification. The prolonged wait time and lack of transparency were unacceptable.

Furthermore, the hotline support was woefully inadequate. A 2-hour wait did not resolve my issue, and I was left without a satisfactory solution. As someone with 15 years of corporate experience, I found this level of inefficiency to be shocking.

The request for my pregnant wife to gather additional documents to resolve the issue was inconsiderate and demonstrated a lack of empathy.

I strongly suggest Questrade reevaluate their customer service operations and consider outsourcing to a more competent provider if necessary. Until improvements are made, I will be sharing my disappointing experience.

🚫 I advise potential clients to exercise caution when dealing with Questrade, prioritizing alternative providers with better customer service standards.

This is one of the WORST brokers in the…

This is one of the WORST brokers in the world. And I'm not saying that lightly. Their tooling is GOD AWFUL. Pathetic buggy iOS app that crashes when you're in the middle of a trade, IQ Edge looks like a joke from the 60s with terrible bugs like dropping connections, a confusing UI, shitty UX choices like not being able to override an existing take profit + stop loss order with a close position, no easy way to close position/flatten at one go. Customer service is SLOW AF. Expect to wait 15 minutes to 45 minutes to reach anyone. How these people are in business boggles my mind. And the fact that they have so much of my money CONCERNS me greatly. Can't wait to move over to another broker. iBKR has been great so far.

Save yourself and RUN RUN RUN.

Finally spoke with someone with a lot of knowledgeFrustrating customer service department

Customer service is lacking big time. I talked to someone on the phone a couple of days ago and she said my case had a high priority, and I would get a call in the next 48 hours for sure.
I was sceptical and of course did not receive anything back from questrade.
My wife's account almost looks identical to mine.
We both made Transfer in Kind which they included in my wife's total deposits but did not include mine in my total deposits. So my performance looks a lot better than it really is because they're not including $7000.00 that was the transfer in kind.
Something like this should be easily fixed but with them it can become a nightmare. Other issues like totally wrong answers, and you can tell it's because the person on the other end does not have the experience in investing. When you ask them to escalate the call because you can sense that they're not sure what you're talking about, they say that they are not able to???
Finally, I was contacted by a super knowledgable and experienced customer service specialist from Questrade.
It turns out I was actually wrong about what I thought was a problem and this knowledgable rep explained very well how this particular problem I perceived works.
I will say though, the agents that answered my calls or in my opinion, are not properly trained and even though they said someone would be contacting me, it didn't happen a few times in a row. Changed the rating from a 2 star to a four-star.

They make it very difficult to withdraw money.

Questrade had no trouble transferring money from my bank which was lacking an initial in my name, whereas I had put an initial in my name for Questrade. But when I tried to withdraw cash from my Questrade account, suddenly the lack of an initial in my bank account name was a really big issue. Now, the only way I can withdraw MY money from my Questrade account is to either change the name on my other bank account, or get a letter written up by the bank to confirm I am who I say I am, which involves an hour of driving time plus finding someone in the bank to write a letter for me, then scan the letter and send it back to Questrade. I don't have a scanner, so this has become a real hassle to withdraw MY money from MY Questrade account. They had no problem accepting a transfer FROM my other bank account, only when they have to transfer it back. Very frustrating.

Brutal

It's taken over a month for them to transfer over an RESP from from another broker. Every time that you start a chat with customer service you have to restate your acct number, personal info, full name etc. This is when you are already logged into your account. The webpage itself is in a 1990s style page where you can't go back to navigate, have to click the x in the corner... not a user friendly site and terrible customer service, slow account transfers.

I am extremely disappointed with Questrade. This has been the worst experience I’ve had with any trading platform. I made an Interac transfer, and Questrade has been holding my money for over two weeks with no proper explanation.

I contacted them through multiple emails and phone calls, and every time they told me the same thing: “Your funds will be credited tomorrow.”
But tomorrow never came.

There is no proper process to resolve issues, no urgency, and no accountability. A financial company handling people’s money should be transparent and responsive — Questrade has shown neither.

This behaviour is completely unacceptable, especially from a trading company. It feels like they do not care about customers at all.

I strongly recommend that others avoid using this platform. Protect your money and choose a broker that is reliable and professional.

Questrade’s Lowball Trap: Fees, Transfers, and Zero Support

Their “low‑cost broker” branding falls apart when you try to move your own money between accounts. Questrade charges a staggering $100 for internal transfers and $150 if you leave — the highest fees in the industry.
They don’t care whether you stay or go; there’s no retention team. James, their “customer support” couldn’t be less concerned by my decision to part ways with Questrade - he refused twice to escalate my request to a manager, and also said I'll receive the chat transcript, which of course I didn't. But who needs them?
You can find far better deals with industry leaders like RBC Direct Investing, who will reimburse Questrade’s $150 and itself has a deregistration/exit fee of only $50, or Wealthsimple, with $0 deregistration fees and reimbursement of Questrade’s $150. For active traders, Interactive Brokers offers a powerful platform (a lot more powerful than Questrade's!), extensive tools and education, low fees, and excellent customer support — all things Questrade fails to deliver.

Questrade calls itself low-cost, but I’m now trapped in their sneaky, high-fee, dismissive-support system and regret every single dollar I ever gave them.
So don't get duped - give them a chance to s^&* you. If a new kid on the block starts out as being rotten on day 2, they don't deserve it. Stick to industry leaders who actually care about you and your money.

The setup process is like pull teeth

The setup process is like pull teeth. Even when you give them proof of address documents that perfectly matches the requirements they gave, they decline it and don't give any indication what is wrong so I'm playing a game of document roulette, just guessing which document to try next in hopes it works. Since they are SOOOOO slow approving these, it takes forever to even hear they're declining the next document attempt. Very unimpressed with the poor onboarding experience.

Worst ever customer service

I talk to one of the worst ever representatives.
I initiated pre-authorization early first week of Nov 2025.
Questrade option for money deposit was Nov19th
Money is withdrawn from my account on Nov19 and not in Questrade account till Nov 27.
The guy on the call said he does not care that’s ok for him.
If this is their customer service I will ask all to find the alternatives.
Questrade don’t care about your hard earned money and simply hungover on you.

Questrade’s Broken Promises of Low‑Cost Trading

I started with Questrade several years ago on a positive note. As a Canadian broker, they promised fresh, user‑friendly trading services with low fees. Unfortunately, the reality turned out very different. The longer you use this platform, the more problems you uncover:
- Slow transactions – Moving money between accounts takes 3–5 business days, even though most banks process instantly. Direct deposits face the same delays, leaving your funds frozen.
- Dividend delays – Dividends are not credited immediately. They also take 3–5 business days to appear, during which your money is inaccessible.
- Out‑of‑sync reporting – Account reports lag behind reality. For example, if you cover margin debt with a dividend, the system still issues a margin call the next day because it hasn’t updated, yet it charges you in real time.
- Poor customer service – Support often redirects you to FAQ links instead of addressing your specific issue, repeating that they “don’t provide financial advice.”
- Hidden fees and unclear balances – Unexpected charges appear without explanation. The platform makes it difficult to track debits, credits, and even your actual cash balance.
All things considered, if time and transparency matter to you, Questrade is not the broker I would recommend. Their service is slow, opaque, and unreliable compared to competitors.

Questrade is NOT integrated with Tradingview

Questrade claims to be fully integrated with Tradingview in Canada and advertiizes this advantage. You can not make trades from TradingView sucessfully from Charts. You can not make stop limit orders that are required in Canada from TradingView. You cannot find this information on Questrade sites or help line and a call to the help centre will result in staff who are not aware. The claim is false and Qustrade is not Integrated.

Questrade platform is not secure

Questrade platform is not secure. My Questrade account was compromised and I lost $120,000. Questrade's response was it was not thme and they will no nothing for me. They refused to release anything to back up their position. I contacted them several times without so much as a call back.
