Absolute thieves.

Absolute thieves.
They make up a bogus "schedule 8" which is agreed by RPS & Employers to stop paying you what you've saved if you access it early by saying "you might get paid for longer than you should" boohoohoo
But they are extremely happy to pocket your savings if you die early.
If 1 person changes their mind and goes to a real pension company then this review was worth while.

They don't want to pay me what I have saved but hope I die early to pocket my money from my family getting it.
Absolute thieves

I have been trying now for 2 years 7 months.

I have been trying now for 2 years and 7 months to get a small pension from Railways pension from my time working with them 20 years ago. The level of incompetence is astounding. You very rarely get an answer to an e-mail, they ignore you and then months later apologise for keeping you waiting so long, then apologise again the next time they ignore you. So many different people have spoken to me, they tell me they have everything they need from me, then tell me they need more forms that they never sent to me. I hate dealing with them, totally fed up with it all, suspect that it’s designed to put you off from trying to obtain your old pensions. Feel now that I do need to go to the pensions ombudsman.

Reported to the pensions regulators.

After all the problems I've had, misinformation, lead times doubled, a truly honest call handler stating most staff don't know the technical side of the pensions!!! What, that's what your there for, who else do you call?. I have an email 13 weeks after signing the forms to release my money into a pipp, sorry if you've been told the wrong information etc but bla bla bla. So I send an email to railpen to be ignored again. I then contact them because I was on holiday when they sent me the sorry we balls up again email. It will take a week to sort out, paperwork was never sent, still waiting too since March. It's now nearly August. Helloooooo!!!!!. Don't bother complaining it's pointless. 17 weeks now should have been 8- 10, not even a follow-up email or call. Useless company in all respects. Its shameful and not fit for purpose. Can't even get a contact for the MD. Having said that you can't contact the same person twice, Emails go into the abyss, there is no direct contact to anyone. I had to call to see they received the information I sent again. Its utterly useless. Shame on you, its not a service it's a lash up. I've never know a company to be so out of touch. But ultimately if you can take a call at home with dogs barking and running around and telling them to shut up then not call the customer back at all then it just shows the whole s£!t show and general attitude.Update!! Been paid compensation. Having been told I was to blame for signing the wrong forms. They tried to buy an annuity and not a transfer of funds to my drawdown pension. Be advised, they are the most unprofessional people I've ever had the misfortune to deal with. I've been reassured that my input has given rise to changes in their system. But we can't tell you what these are. I have a notion, they are not able to ignore you and flip the bird once off the phone, flipping the bird isn't in keeping anymore. I screwed this right down, who was the person who took my call and never returned it?. Why didn't they?. I'm a silly boy and know nothing about pension regulations. No, I let you tell me lies and then told you what the pensions regulator states. Then the penny dropped!!. Not one time did I have a normal conversation until I said I'd notified the pensions regulators who may I add were surprised at what I said, they even notified the pension ombudsman on my behalf. The compensation was paid in 2 days. My pension money today is still outstanding, it's just short of 6 months. I can't make a claim through the ombudsman because I took the compensation offered. The pension regulators on the other hand will do their job without limit. As the lady assured me she would.
The management and CEO need a reality check. Ps. If you stand by your staff, company and draw a salary, put your picture on the Internet, then have no contact number, email, etc. That tells a story. Sad bloody experience in every way. I just hope you don't try and get a real job that affects people!. Ignorance is bliss. I've got a phone number and your privie to my details due to the complaint. Like I said to the complaint handler. Don't you feel embarrassed that the call handlers are apologising because of your sh[te service.
Clueless, don't ask about your pension. They don't know. Maybe now?.
I've been told they have been retrained.
So, where is the person that told me I can't take my pension!!!!. That expert call handler is probably a manager now. 11 months to sort a pension. I'd rather not work than embarrasse myself in this s#it company. Good luck. If you feel that your getting nowhere and your desperate, you need to ask for everything from the moment you contacted them under the freedom of information act!!. Then send it to the pension ombudsman, pension regulator too. They need to be shaken up. It's appalling, once I had successfully gained compensation I was told they are a none profit making company. I almost wet myself. Ceo doesn't pass his money back due to the sh!t show he heads to the paying customer, the useless staff are still being paid. Are they handing back their wages due to guilt?. No!! But the biggest thing is they can and will make your life utterly miserable for months and then make you feel guilty for taking money (compensation) because they are unable to do their job. They really made themselves look really stupid and incompetent to a point. Not worrying but frightening. It's our pensions.

Comms need a bit of work

My experience is poor comms. They took over a month to respond to an email during an important process. However this may be a staffing issue post covid.

When they actually deal with matters they are normally okay.

Fabulous website with excellent employees supporting

As I approach pension age I was keen to understand my options. Upon telephoning the 'contact us' number, I got through quickly and easily (despite COVID-19) to a knowledgeable, helpful individual who talked me through the process. It's an amazing new website with fabulous support and I couldn't be happier! Thank you.
