It will not maintain the temperature…

It will not maintain the temperature AND it is definately not leak proof :-/
So basically it ADDS to the amount plastic waste, when you feel the urge to toss it after having used it only a cpl of times :-(

Lovely idea, doesn’t do the job

Lovely idea, lovely looks but doesn’t do what it should. I can get an extra hot flat white, cycle to work (max 15 minutes) & the coffee is barely warm. Sorry but gone back to standard takeaway cup until I find a good reusable.

The reusable cup that's not meant to be reusable?

This cup seemed great at first but after the second use, it has become unusable. I hand wash it and make sure it is rinsed well but for some reason, it now permanently tastes like soap. No matter what I do it makes EVERYTHING task soapy, Tea, Coffee, water. it all tastes like soap. I'm so glad I got this as a freebie in a gift bag rather than wasting my money buying it. I would not recommend it at all.

Do you like the taste of soap?

I love my r Cup. I have problems with motor skills so being able to to push the lid opened and closed with my fist is brilliant. Mine's is leak-proof. It leaves a terrible soapy taste in the cup though and I put mine in the dishwasher after every use.

Nice cup but not leakproof

It is a nice cup, looks good and drinks fine but it doesn't keep my coffee hot after 30minutes and after you finished your drink some drops remain under the drinking lid and come out when you toss the cup in your bag.. with coffee stains on my books and in my bag as a result, therefore I wouldn't classify this cup as leakproof

Not insulated at all

Great concept, however only receiving two stars as I purchased this cup on the basis it was advertised as 'fully insulated' - I am on my bike a lot, make a hot drink at home and like it have it when I get to work 30minutes later at which point the drink is already luke warm.

I emailed the company about this, and was told that the heat would be getting trapped between the inner and outer layer but the temperature of my drink should not be affected. Clearly not the case.

Unfortunately will not be recommending.

User friendly but has downsides

I bought this cup to drink my coffee at uni (to avoid disposable cups). What attracted me to the product was the sustainable aspect of what they were made of (old disposed cups) and that it was leak proof.

I am overall satisfied with the product, it does not keep your drink warm for more than 2 hours, but for my purposes, that's no problem (pretty much the same as a disposable cup really). It's completely leak proof (I drink my coffee black) which is great as I walk around with it in my backpack, and it's light when it's empty.

The downside for me has been that despite being BPA free, it does leave a strange taste to the coffee. I also noticed that as I wash it, it always has an after-smell of coffee (that's fine for me, but if you want to change things up, say drink tea one day rather than coffee, it might disappoint you). Something tells me if I can taste it, my body is probably absorbing something it shouldn't.

rCup is a fantastic concept so i bought…

rCup is a fantastic concept so i bought into it and encourage others to do so too. There was a slight design issue with the O ring in the lid which was quickly and efficiently replaced.
Great company, working towards a less wasteful future.

This cup very disappointing

This cup very disappointing. Firstly, the drink went luke warm quite quickly. If you’re drinking a bigger amount, it can spill out, as has been commented before. I had to constantly check if it was in the ‘open’ or ‘closed’ function before I put it in my bag to ensure that there was no leakage. I shook it upside down as a test, and it did leak. I will not use it again.

Well made but some bad design issues I'm afraid.

I just bought an rCup a few days ago and, although it is well made and I like the idea of it using recycled cups in its manufacture, there are a few things that would have stopped me buying it if I had known them in advance.

Firstly, because the thread is on the inside it means you can't put the lid on when the coffee shop fills it to the top. I had to drink an inch of very hot coffee before I could put the lid on and leave the coffee shop this morning. My previous cup had the thread on the outside so it was never an issue.

Secondly, when you drink from it the crema (froth) from the coffee gets caught in the gap around the push lid and looks a complete mess until you are able to find somewhere to wash the cup. I don't even want to put the dirty cup back inside my laptop case in case it leaves marks. It's quite tricky to clean too, you need to fold paper towel and poke the ends of it in to the gap.

On a positive note, it's a good cup if you always fill it yourself as you know where to fill up to, and if you have somewhere nearby to rinse the cup then the drink trapped around the push lid won't be important.

Love it!

I am so pleased with my rCup especially the all round drinking angle. I hate those with the tiny hole you pour drinks into your mouth through but this gives more of a real cup feel. I like the click open and shut and have learnt that if it rattles the top is open. Very clever design, easy to pop the lid apart to clean and a big tick for it's environmental ethics I've also used it for ice cold G'n'T on the beach! Bravo rCup!

This is a great concept, however......

This is a great concept, a reusable mug which is made from throw away cups....very clever..
I saw the ad on instagram and was intrigued.
As a van driver I tend to buy coffees on the go so a good quality reusable cup was on my list of 'must haves'..
Off to waitrose to purchase one (£12, cripes, better be good I thought).
Its good, however, I dont think it keeps the drink hot for long, and more importantly, the 360 degree drinking rim is fine if you like to sip. If you fancy a big gulp of drink, it will pour over your face, and as a man with a beard, thats very annoying...
I got my buddies to try it out just to make sure it wasnt me...same feedback..
I'm sold on the idea, its a fantastic way of recycling. For £12 its very expensive for a product which has some flaws, but I commend the concept.
