We ordered the 12-course tasting experience. Few dishes were good, most were lacking balance, texture and were all very heavy..

but what really bothered me was the service. the restaurant has a number of tables arranged around a sort of central dispensing point. Eventually there was service of 3 different waiters who continuously walked restlessly around the tables and made dinner with each other completely impossible by constant interruptions. We were also stared at all the time, by waiters, sommelier and even from the open kitchen.
It just wasn't right.

Visited Brace Friday 27th January - and I am NOT impressed!
At the booking, my husband mentioned the dinner was the celebration of 25 years of marriage, but when we arrived, Brace hadn´t done anything to add to the celebration!
We ordered the Brace Experience with wine pairing.
1100 DKK for the menu and 900 DKK for the wine pairing. 900 DKK for 8 very small glasses of wine - a total rip-off. On top of this we paid 250 DKK/glass for a very small serving of a mid-quality champagne.
Due to the corona-guidelines, the waiters was wearing facemasks, but never-the-less it was impossible to hear what the waiters explained about both the food and wine - none of our guest couldn´t hear anything!
Paying 55 DKK/bottle water, in total 225 DKK just for water - I find it ridiculous!
One of our guest was "lucky" enough to find a long black hair on one of the servings - I must conclude the staff hadn´t checked the course before leaving the kitchen. If Brace have ambitions of Stars, I suggest the kitchen up their game significantly !
When leaving the restaurant, nobody was present find our coats - we where left to our device searching the wardrobe.
In total our experience was anything but what we had expected and looked forward to!

Fantastic food, wine and juice. Michelin star level in most aspects, and the service was kind and good. Sommelier did a great juice pairing with some really interesting choices as well, and described them nicely. Coming back from the toilet your napkin is folded and your chair placed correctly. Food is beautifully and artisticly arranged and extremely flavorful. Like I said, michelin star worthy! Fingers crossed for them, they deserve that star!

A few bits of advice, though, for further improvement.
First off we had 4 starters delivered within the first 15 minutes. That felt a bit stressful, but the pace slowed after that and we ended up spending a full 3 hours there as I would expect for the full menu. But please wait with serving a starter until the previous one is gone.
And then there was the initial confusion with that one glass of sparkling wine. Immediately after ordering an 800 kr wine pairing menu we had the question if we “wanted some sparkling with the snacks or just water”. Like, didn’t I just order the wine pairing? I asked if it was not included, which it wasn’t. So I initially declined, this smelled to me like a trap. My wife made me immediately regret that decision, so now I even looked bad for being cheap. Ended up getting that glass of wine anyway, and out of the whole 8-9 glasses this was in the bottom 2. Tasted a bit like apple, guess it was OK but nothing special. Getting to the bill my spidersenses from before was unfortunately confirmed. Those two x 5 cl of sparkly mediocre wine was 370 kr on top. That whole experience left me with a foul taste of deceit to end a wonderful experience. And really, it is a shame, since the overall experience is well worth it. Was the sparkling wine included in the wine pairing for another 200 kr on top each, I had gladly paid it, since the whole experience was so delightful. But this way of immediate upselling of “even more wine” with the food felt dishonest to me. When I order the wine menu I also want a glass with the 4 snacks. It’s all fair game to charge for pre-dinner drinks, avec, coffee and those things. But this one was foul play, I think. It even made me look bad.

But having known that I would go there anytime with no worries. They do deserve that star for the general level of everything, the above is really meant as advise on a very minor thing that is easily fixed. I give the place my best recommendations anyway - go try it!
