From our experience we advise to save your money & avoid rhodes city tour hop on hop off

We had a very poor experience with the Rhodes City Tour hop-on hop-off yellow bus today and would strongly advise others to avoid this service.

We used the bus earlier in the day and planned to rejoin at the Old Town Main Gate. We arrived at 16:00, well before the advertised 16:23 time, but the bus never arrived. Assuming this was a one-off, we waited for the next—and final—service at 17:23, and again no bus turned up. By 17:35 we even walked along the route in case the bus was running late, but it never appeared. We were left stranded.

During this time the competing red bus passed the stop twice and was actively picking up and dropping off passengers. Because we had already paid for the yellow bus, we could not use the red bus.

When I raised the issue by email, the yellow bus company replied that the 16:23 time at Old Town Main Gate is “drop-off only” and not a scheduled pick-up, and that this is shown in their leaflet. This explanation does not make sense. The pamphlet given to me by the driver lists those times under a “timetable” with no note that they are drop-off only. Earlier in the day we also observed people hopping on and off at various stops, which is exactly how the service is advertised.

If the company’s reply is accurate, the service is not clearly explained to customers; if it’s not accurate, the buses simply aren’t running as scheduled. Either way, the result is the same: no reliable pick-ups and passengers left without transport.

Overall, the service failed to deliver on its basic promise. The lack of clear information and buses not appearing at scheduled times was extremely disappointing. Based on what we saw, the red bus service appears to be a far more dependable alternative.
