Bought three one year old apple trees at the start of the season and planted them with care. The Blenheim Orange and the Charles Ross, despite loving care, have made little growth and don't look great. They were very small on arrival and, despite careful planting and watering, they have not thrived. They are still alive, so I live in hope. The Bramley Seedling, a sturdy specimen, has grown really well - I'm fan training it and the leader and both branches are already all over four foot long. I kow it is a vigorous cultivar but am still very pleased with progress. The hot weather won't have helped, although it has not adversely affected the Bramley Seedling, which is on a west wall and does get pretty hot.
