I’m so glad you’ve reminded me to let you know how terribly disappointed I’ve been with the Golden Hop I ordered as part of a friend’s birthday gift. I have a much admired one in my courtyard and know of several others in the village, so am more than familiar with the appearance and growth habits. When your plant arrived I was surprised to note the dark leaf colour but initially put it down to the plant being young and perhaps even the length of time spent in packaging. It was duly presented to my friend with apologies and a recommendation to keep an eye on the colour of the new growth. I am sorry to say that she sent me a photograph recently and it looks exactly the same … no glorious lime green foliage at all, just dreary dark green! I can only assume that the plant has been mislabelled and would appreciate a replacement please. The accompanying photographs show the plant on its arrival, in front of my own Golden Hop for colour comparison. The attached label … correct species, as ordered but, I think not on the correct plant. A recent photo of the plant ~ no change of colour!
