Fantastic Experience

We hired a van for the weekend to go and watch the F1 at Silverstone. It was easy to collect and Chris Dredge talked us through all of the set up. We had one slight issue when we arrived at our destination so phoned Chris Dredge who was great and advised how to sort it out - so all was sorted quickly.
The van itself was spotlessly clean, modern and perfect for our needs, we would definatley recommend Red Lion and will be using them again when we need to!

Great caravan, great value, great service

Bought a second hand Eldis 530 from these guys earlier this year.

Had been looking local to me and then jumped on the internet to compare prices and found Red Lion had similar age spec caravan at substantially lower price. Rang up and spoke with Gary and when I had a question he didn't know the answer to he went off to look at the van and then gave me a call back five minutes later. We did this three times!

Concluded that caravan sounded good and so next day I drove up to see them, just over three hours. Wasn't disappointed. Caravan just as described. In the end though there was another van that was even better. They turned it around in record time and despite being middle of summer we picked it up 10 days later.

This is my first caravan. Gary made sure we knew how everything worked, even gave us some towing advice.

Another 350 miles and two ferries later caravan is now in Scottish Highlands, semi static while we rennovate a property up here. It's been really good.

Only problem we've had is with a whalemaster water pump (check on line, lots of people have problems). Despite trying various tricks and a service kit I just couldn't coax it back to being properly reliable. In the end gave the guys a call to see if there was anything they could do to help and even though we were outside the three month warranty period, it's an older caravan, Pete sent us a new socket, free of charge. Really impressed, thanks guys.

Dissatisfied purchase (used caravan)

Our experience dealing with Red Lion Caravans in Southport was not good.
Positives first, in the interest of providing a balanced review. The tyres were renewed, a new leisure battery provided and new TV point installed, plus a three year warranty provided (in lieu of manufacture warranty voided through lack of servicing by previous owner), all free of charge. Aftersales from Catherine was good.
However, sorry to say we found communication to be poor from the sales representative. Also, he gave us inaccurate descriptions and mis-information. We felt pressured to make payment quickly on collection day despite having doubts.
The condition was not quite as described to us over video viewing. The alloy wheels were since damaged, we believe when the tyres were changed by their workshop.
We were promised a full service but received a rudimentary 'pre delivery inspection'. The handbook was not stamped, nor an NAC sticker provided. (The Owners Handbook since posted back to RLC for a service stamp was 'lost' by RLC, despite evidence of delivery). It transpired their workshop is not NAC approved.
Shortly after collection, we asked to cancel the contract - as was our legal right - but this request was refused.
We recommend steering clear of this company if you're in the market for a used caravan. We regret not heeding the negative reviews from others - it seems our experience is not a one-off.

Terrible service

Terrible service. Rude communication, Communicating with people as if we have a duty to them.
Offered vans are full of crumbling. Sellers do not know the product details.
All good reviews are fake. Do not recommend. Waste of time and money.

We had a brilliant experience!

We had a brilliant experience buying our first ever caravan at Red Lion. Chris was super helpful - we went in with a good idea of our options but Chris took real time to explain all the details which made us feel at ease. We have since purchased a go pod and we absolutely love it. They gave us a brilliant deal, and having just been out in it for the first time, we’re so happy with the functionality of everything. When we collected, Chris took real time to explain how everything worked and this meant our first trip was smooth sailing. Thank you!

Purchase and after sales service.

I have just bought a Go Pod at RLC and found the customer service to be excellent. I initially dealt with Chris and during my buying journey I was also in contact with Taylor. Both of them had expert knowledge and were very quick to respond to my questions. When I collected the pod I got a really fantastic and in-depth handover from Chris. I had just a couple of minor things that needed to be sorted post purchase, Chris ensured that these were done and I was really happy with the outcome. All in all I cannot fault RLC and would have no hesitation to recommend them as they were professional, and provided brilliant customer service. Thank you

Sales Guy 0 interest in us or helping…

Sales Guy 0 interest in us or helping with purchasing a caravan. Told us had a few other 6 berth. He did assist us with a step disabled friendly. Text his Boss for price on part exchange of our campervan. Then told us had to go to office. 25 mins later we got out ourselves. Eventually he approached us did not give price told us not really have any other 6 berth to show us. We left. We do genuinely want to purchase a caravan. Definitely not here.

Motorhome hire.

What an amazing company. From the day i walked in to enquire Amber was so helpful in telling me all about the different motorhomes. She helped me choose the right one for us. Everything from collection to return, and the trip around the north coast 500 went smoothly due to the videos of how to use things in the motorhome, and the links to places we could stay. We would absolutely recommend red lion to anyone! Everything about the experience was perfect.

Thank you very much Amber for all you have done for us.

DO NOT USE RED LION CARAVAN CENTRE!

DO NOT USE RED LION CARAVAN CENTRE!

Purchased a Motorhome in 2022 and was given multiple pieces of information which turned out to be incorrect. We actually completed half of our additional license requirements before realising the van had been down plated! RLC insisted it was 4000kg at the point of sale! Huge waste of money and time for us! There were also multiple problems with it which we raised and struggled to even get a response to! When we finally got a response, and after multiple emails, they retracted all their previous comments and admitted liability! The van was apparently "fixed" but actually came out with more faults and damage that it went in with! After much deliberation we decided the best option was to let Red Lion Caravan Centre re-sell the motorhome on our behalves (BIG MISTAKE!)! They made no attempt to sell the van, and after several months we picked the van up to sell privately. Upon collection, we pointed out multiple areas of damage that wasn't previously there. We were told we would be contacted to make the necessary repair arrangements however all we received was an email with some photos stating it was like that when we dropped it off! HOWEVER, we had pictures of the van as we left it and could quite clearly see the damage had been caused whilst with RLC. There is not only damage externally, but all the carpets have been pulled up, screwed up and shoved in a cupboard all ripped! The battery is now completed dead, and I'm wondering if it is even the same battery we sent it in with! After sending a further email with the relevant evidence, we yet again received an email stating they were now happy to do the repairs. No apology, no explanation, nothing!

I did question how in their photographs they claim to have taken when we dropped the motorhome off to sell in February, there was a VW Campervan in the background which they had only had on sale since April! Salesman Mark kindly told a relative how long the VW had been in stock, which I included in the email to RLC but again, was ignored.

ALL the staff encountered within the 18 month back-and-forth with RLC have done nothing but lie to us! From the pre-purchase checks they didn't complete, the shoddy "repair" jobs and the damage caused by nothing but negligence, its been one of the most stressful, draining experiences of our lives!

This is also not an isolated incident as other reviews seem to have had a similar experience and my MIL & FIL bought a Motorhome at almost the same time from RLC and they had a very similar experience! Continually lied to and treated with absolutely no respect!

Unless you enjoy people damaging your property and being ripped off, lied to, ignored and unfairly treated then DO NOT USE Red Lion Caravan Centre!

Please check before you buy…

Please be very careful about doing checks on the vehicle you are buying and thoroughly investigate as they dont do this and as a result, we have sadly lost our 10% deposit as they sold us a campervan with well known and documented catastrophic engine problems that we can't afford to get rectified. They have put the van back on their website so please, if you're purchasing the silver VW California 2010 please be sure its not one of the ones affected as there is a good chance it could be. It has the CFCA engine. We couldn't afford to take the risk. Looking at other reviews we are not the only unhappy or unlucky customers of this business

In 2023 I purchased a Sterling…

In 2023 I purchased a Sterling Continental 570 2017 model from Red Lion Caravan Sales in Scarisbrick. The sales staff explained that prior to it being handed over to me, it would be fully serviced. I sited the caravan and hooked up to the electric and felt everything was fine. However, When I moved to a new seasonal pitch and could no longer keep the electric hooked up when we were not using the caravan, things started to become clear that a service had not been carried out. After returning home from a stay at the caravan, 3 days later I was contacted by The alarm company who said the alarm had been activated. I went to the caravan and it was obvious that the battery was dead. This happened a further 3 times before I purchased a new battery. I challenged Red Lion Caravan sales about this as a few days earlier they had spoken to my wife and said they always replace the battery prior to a customer collecting their purchase. When I changed the battery, i noticed that Swift, the manufacture had written the install date on it; 2017. When i challenged Red Lion Caravans they shrugged it off and said that it must have been good at the time despite clearly seeing the age and did not even do a load test to ensure this, if they had they would have seen that the battery was not fit for purpose.

I WOULD DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE PURCHASING FROM RED LION CARAVANS as clearly they are not totally honest about per-purchase checks. Not good customer service experience.

Collection of cub caravan

I on Thursday 24th September drove 5 hours to pick up my lion cub teardrop, on arrival the first thing Chris did was to get me a much needed cup of tea and while I was drinking my tea disappeared and brought my new Cub teardrop down to the front for me. After grinning like a Cheshire cat I wheeled over in my wheelchair to have a show around. To be totally honest not just Chris but all of the staff could not of helped more. As when we went to connect to my car my tow bar electrics would not talk to the teardrop as they have led road lights and my electrics was set up for normal bulbs. But not a problem as Chris sorted me out with a light board to get me home. I will definitely buy from Red lion caravans again even though I had to drive from my home in Kent taking 5 hours.
Thanks again Chris.

Motorhome Purchase from RLC

just purchased MH from RLC and felt compelled to comment on the brilliant service & customer experience provided by Chris and the rest of the Red Lion team. Chris Looked after us from the minute we stepped foot on site and gave us so much invaluable upfront advice on our purchase in a very friendly, non assuming and professional manner. Cant speak highly enough about our experience with this Company .... 5 star plus service and no hesitation in recommending them. A couple of small issues post sale but again all sorted quickly by Chris and the team with no fuss which is so refreshing to report. Thx Chris (and Tony in the shop) and the rest of the RL team .. Mike & Gill 👏👏👏

Red Lion Caravans

Red Lion Caravans.

So here’s what happened with my eventful Saturday.

I would like to give this company some rating, but there customer care and communication is shocking. I was in talks with Matt from the start about the caravan. 2 year old Adria Adora. From the very start things where going wrong and I should of walked. I gets a phone call saying the curtains where missing, and was offered £350 off. I also noticed the spare wheel was missing and this got sorted. After a delay about the pickup due to issues with some of the windows. I made arrangements to travel the 255 mile from my house to them. Towing my caravan. The day before I called asking 3 questions about the van. Needless to say I never get a return call. On arrival I was meet by Gary, who’s first question was “ has anyone mentioned about the keys to you” nope I replied. The keys had gone missing and they replaced the locks. Happy day l, nope each lock was changed and I now had a bunch of keys. 1 for each lock. The table that was in the van, didn’t belong either. To make matters worse, I was just about to but my number plate on, and noticed 2 grey patches on the rear. On closer inspection, these to patches (as per the photo) where duct tape covering damage. At this stage I wasn’t happy and reported it to Gary. At this stage I had had enough and said I wasn’t taking it. And asked for my refund. To which Gary said it would be sort out on Monday as it was the weekend. On Monday I gets a call from Gary asking for my details for the refund. At this stage you would think is the end of the matter. No , they took another £500 out. Luckily they had called telling about the mistake.

I emailed Lee also with my concerns and asking for compensation on my wasted 500 mile trip. This was refused saying “they had nothing to hid, and if I had of asked for a telephone viewing I or we would of seen the damage. Really you completely missed on your checks that you made on your inspections. Who’s the expert me or the company.

If your looking for a caravan. Look else where, if they haven’t noticed this on a 2 year old van. Then what have they missed on an old one.

On further checks I’ve found they had this van in the yard for 4 months, and still noticed the damage.
