Absolute scam
Absolute scam. They booked a concert date for a day which was my childs transition day where she physically could not attend because she'd be at her future high school. I told them last month when they announced the date that if they cannot change the date to cancel the membership because I don't want to pay £45 a month for my child to practice for a concert they can't perform in through no fault of their own. I was told they'd speak to the teacher and get back to me. They didn't. I got charged. An email went out confirming the concert date is the same date. It's scamming me and its cruel to make my child practice knowing they can't be at the show she came home saying how they complimented her singing and saying she's so improved and its beyond cruel its raising her up for her to fall flat I had to remind her she can't go to the concert she was in tears THIS IS WHAT THEY DON'T HAVE TO SEE WHEN THEY'RE HURTING MY CHILD. EDIT:You failed to respond to the part where I literally put it in an email that if you can't change the date just cancel the subscription but they didn't cancel, instead saying they were looking into changing the date, let me get charged and kept the date regardless.

To explain a little more about how we schedule concerts, we work closely with schools to book termly performances around other activities and events. We always try to ensure dates work for every family and do our best to find timings that work for everyone, but unfortunately this isn't always possible.

I am very disappointed with my…
I am very disappointed with my experience at Rocksteady Music School.
After enrolling my child, we attended what was supposed to be their first lesson at 8:30. We arrived at Parkgate Junior School on time and repeatedly pressed the bell, but nobody came to open the gate. As a result, my child was unable to attend the lesson and missed out completely.
What made the situation even more disappointing was the lack of communication afterwards. Despite my child missing the lesson through no fault of our own, the teacher did not contact me to check what had happened or to follow up.
For a first lesson, this was a very poor experience.

My grandson has been with Rocksteady…
My grandson has been with Rocksteady for 18 months+
He is having to stop now due to him going to secondary school
He has thoroughly enjoyed it.
He plays the key board and loves it , he is hoping to continue with lessons at his new school.
He has grown in confidence since joining, joined the choir and performed in the end of year production.
I would 100% recommend Rocksteady . Thank you

Money making scheme...would not recommend
Would not recommend Rocksteady at all! they are a modern day con artists exploitation through young children, a waste of money and time with false hopes! They are not transparent how the costing for these sessions actually work, their costing model makes no logical sense, it just leaves parents confused whilst they waffle down the phone how it works. Where is the transparency on their website? Its an upfront monthly DD payment taken but if the school is closed for 1/2 term or music teacher is ill and lesson is cancelled, they don't make up for these sessions and no refund is given. The reason they give instead is 'your child is making expected progress and the cost would thus cover this' we don't give refunds on these occasions. Also on one occasion my child was not collected for her lesson and I had to raise this with rocksteady who said she wasn't in school that day to which I replied she was but wasn't collected. After they investigated they did apologise and made up an extra session for her. In my experience, I find Rocksteady very defensive and does not take accountability for their own mistakes. Its too expensive for what its actually worth and together with a lack of costing transparency which I've never come across anywhere else I would go elsewhere if your child wants to take up learning a musical instrument/sing in a band. Progress is very very slow, but the only positive is the kids who attend are having fun

Please accept our apologies for any confusion relating to Rocksteady’s subscription model, and we hope the following helps to clarify how it works: Within the academic year (September to July), there are 36-39 teachable weeks that band lessons could be available to you. We know things like unexpected band leader sickness or school closures may occur, so to account for this, the monthly subscription guarantees a minimum of 33 lessons per academic year. If your child joins later in the year, the minimum number of lessons is adjusted to reflect their start date.
The number of lessons delivered at your school are reviewed on a regular basis, and in the unlikely event it looks like you are not on track to receive your minimum lesson count, and extra catch-up lessons are not possible, we will, of course, provide a credit or refund.
We’re also very sorry to hear there was an occasion when your child was not collected for their lesson. This must have have been disappointing and frustrating – and for that we apologise.

My daughter has been doing Rock Steady…
My daughter has been doing Rock Steady with Marcus for a term and a half and has loved every minute of it.
The show was incredible, and Marcus's enthusiasm is infectious. The level of detail he goes into to recognise every child's achievement is so encouraging and makes each child feel valued and proud of their progress. I would highly recommend Rock Steady to any parent looking for a fun, supportive, and confidence-building music experience for their child.

Great enrichment opportunity
Rocksteady is a great enrichment opportunity for the kids. It doesn't only teach them music and playing an instrument but gives them also confidence to play and perform in front of an audience. It shows how fun it is to play in a band and how all the band (team) members have their own importance. My son loves the lessons and playing the keyboard!

Massive waste of time and money
Massive waste of time and money. Started off well. Then the teacher missed a few lessons consecutively. Followed by a concert in which they were expected to perform despite the lack of actual lessons... then Rocksteady cancelled the classes altogether. We were given a refund for the month already paid. But refused a refund for the missed lessons. Massive con. Don't waste your time or money.

Thank you for your feedback. We know how much children look forward to their band lessons, and how important consistency is for their progress and enjoyment. We're so sorry this wasn't the experience we were able to provide.
There are times when pausing lessons at a school is the most appropriate course of action, as this allows us to resolve any issues and ensure a better experience going forward. Payments are frozen immediately when this happens, and we work closely with schools to resume lessons quickly. Unfortunately, this is not always possible – and we sincerely apologies lessons did not resume at your school.
Please be assured that concerts only ever go ahead if the children feel ready and confident to perform, and your band leader will always make that call based on what is right for the group.
To explain a little more about how payments work, our monthly subscription guarantees a minimum of 33 lessons per academic year, or the equivalent based on when your child started. Where that minimum hasn't been met, we will, of course, issue a credit or refund.

My son absolutely loved his time doing rock steady. He performed and gained a certificate in less than a year. Unfortunately he had to change schools due to relocating, and his first words when we told him were “will I still get to do my drumming?” He loved his music teacher and couldn’t recommend it to other parents enough. It’s honestly brilliant for the kids!

My daughter originally started on the bass guitar, however singing was truly what she wanted to do but lacked confidence. I couldn’t persuade her but when I contacted Rock steady, with their help and encouragement, she eventually had the confidence for vocals. Paul her teacher is absolutely amazing!
