Best customer service all year

My Rode Wireless GO II started acting up and I had no idea why. I called customer service fully expecting to either get voicemail or a repair bill — the setup is out of warranty. Instead, Isabella picked up, diagnosed a simple pairing issue, and walked me through the fix with confidence and zero attitude. Best customer service experience I've had all year.

Do NOT give this company money

Do NOT give this company money.
ZERO customer support. They are so disrespectful to their customers they force us to talk to a computer.
The product is SUB PAR.
I don't know if it used to be good, but now, it is garbage.
It is so poorly designed, that it needs updates the day you buy it! It is by no means wireless, you have to buy a very expensive cable to hook it up, because it is so poorly designed, it doesn't have all the cables that you need to use the product.
Also, if you have iPhone 14 (which should be burned at the stake) IT DOES NOT WORK UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES NO MATTER HOW MANY RODE CABLES YOU BUY.
Save yourself some very serious frustration, and buy anything else. This is garbage.

Title: Strong Hardware, but Critical macOS Detection Issue (Streamer X)

I recently purchased the RØDE Streamer X with high expectations, especially given RØDE’s reputation for quality audio equipment and the promise of an all-in-one streaming solution.

While the hardware build quality and concept are impressive, I encountered a serious issue that significantly impacted usability—particularly on macOS.

The Issue:
On my Mac setup, the device is detected in RØDE Unify and functions as an audio interface, but it does not appear as a video capture device in OBS or even at the system level (e.g., Photo Booth). At one point, it was incorrectly recognized as a keyboard device, which indicates a deeper USB/UVC detection or firmware-level problem.

This effectively makes the video capture functionality unusable on macOS, despite proper setup:
• HDMI input/output confirmed working (console passthrough to monitor is fine)
• HDCP disabled on console
• Direct USB-C connection (no hub)
• Multiple cables tested
• Permissions verified
• Device recognized in RØDE software but not by macOS as a camera

Impact:
For a device priced at a premium level, this is a critical limitation. The inability to reliably function as a plug-and-play capture device on macOS defeats its core purpose for streamers using platforms like OBS Studio.

Suggestions for RØDE (Management & R&D):
1. Improve macOS compatibility and UVC device stability.
2. Ensure consistent detection as a video capture device across systems.
3. Provide clearer troubleshooting documentation specific to macOS users.
4. Address potential firmware issues that may cause incorrect device classification (e.g., HID/keyboard mode).
5. Consider offering diagnostic tools or firmware reset options for end users.

Advice for macOS Users:
• Be aware that while audio functionality via RØDE Unify may work, video capture detection is not guaranteed.
• Test immediately upon purchase to confirm compatibility with your system.
• Have a fallback solution if you rely on stable video capture for streaming.

Final Thoughts:
The Streamer X is a promising product with strong hardware and design potential. However, until macOS compatibility and reliability are fully addressed, it may not be suitable for users seeking a seamless streaming experience—especially those relying on OBS.

Given these challenges and the need for a reliable solution, I ultimately decided to move forward with an alternative capture card setup and purchased the Elgato 4K X to continue my streaming workflow without further delays.

I hope RØDE continues to refine this product, as it has the potential to be a great all-in-one solution with the right improvements.

I wanted to return a rode pod mic I…

I wanted to return a rode pod mic I bought and they didn’t let me even though it’s been less then 2 days and I’m pretty sure you can return it before the 2 day warranty and I tried to return it the first day and they wouldn’t let me because they scammed me saying “this isn’t the product we sent you” even tho it is the product we also had proof but they didn’t want us to show the proof because they are scammers.

Poor Customer service

I tried to buy a windshield for my RØDE Lavalier II, but it’s not available on your website. There are only foams listed for the original Lavalier, and it’s not clearly mentioned that they’re incompatible with the Lavalier II. Since there are no specific foams for the Lavalier II, I assumed they were universal — which seemed logical. Now I realize they’re not, and I have to return the item at my own expense, even though the website wasn’t very clear about it.

Never received the product I bought

Never received the product I bought, never received an email follow-up, tracking, and their customer support won't help, even though I was charged. They keep saying they "sent the emails on their end" but I never got anything. Have to go to my bank. Real bummer

Shady marketing scheme

Shady marketing scheme. When you search for rode wireless microphone, first link comes to wireless transmitter, so I went ahead and purchased it, when I got it it says it requires receiver to work, like what kind of scheme is this. Imagine buying a car, and then they tell you actually need to buy engine separately. But this is not whole thing, so i write to and the guy there tells me there is no receivers sold separately and he recommends me to buy whole kit on top of what I bought. And what am I to do with transmitter that I have? Request#637328
How is beginner supposed to know this information, I have no clue, I had microphones bought before, and they never required anything extra, including Rode microphones.

Beautiful equipment, great advice

Update

Rode secured my lifetime trust as a customer of their products by solving my technical query and which did away with the requirement of having to send my equipment away for repairs. Outstanding service, with staff who know their products, and the best equipment in their line of industry.

Update

Rode by arrangement over email, phoned me from their UK office and gave me tailored advice as to equipment and since then I have purchased items ready to get going with my work again.

The technical hitch hasn't been explained yet, though that wasn't what the call was about, and so Rode could still do with following up the matter with their head-office in Australia.

Old Review (was four-stars)

I bought a Rode mic - an NT1 5th Gen - via GAK and it sounded as nice I could have wished for and looked cool, too (I bought the black version), only the USB-plug-in aspect which omits the requirement of an audio-interface as the mic plugs straight into the PC, requires latency settings, because otherwise, due to the lack of audio-interface, you can hear your own voice (delayed by a few seconds, like an echo) while recording, and these settings rely on a specific driver which wasn't allowing for the use of headphones.

GAK didn't know the answer and I was running out of the duration given for returns, and so I was forced to send it back without being sure that there was not some setting somewhere I had missed.

During this time and after, I had contacted Rode with the same question and despite having been given ideas as to what the problem might be and instructions on how to go about making those changes, was never actually provided with the solution and meaning that I never found out what the problem is. The last email from Rode consisted of being told that the driver for said-function doesn't work on all PCs...

This doesn't make much sense. I own a Lenovo six-core twelve-thread modern workhorse running Win 11 Pro - the latest operating-system.

Don't get me wrong, I love Rode equipment - everything about their microphones and presentation is deluxe and for the price-range there is nothing better out there - and yet there is sometimes a lack of information presented when products (across all industries) are advertised (I found this when researching which computer to buy) and am concerned that this dream-mic, which I like because I actually sound like me in the recordings rather than an assimilated version, has not been fully developed for modern PCs running the latest Windows operating-system. That can be the only answer.

Being left with a remaining question-mark is precisely why I have only given three-stars - customers shouldn't be left wondering why Rode's equipment doesn't work in some instances! While it has to be said, maybe the problem is Windows (after all, Affinity Suite crashes all the time when run on this OS). There seem to be innumerable incompatibility issues between modern equipment and software, and Windows. My hurdle, is that the whole saga is costing both time and money.

DON’T EXPECT HELP WHEN YOUR PRODUCT HAS A FAULT

I have had my USB microphone for around three years and I haven’t used it very much until recently – I’m now experiencing a hardware fault – and I noticed a lot of people online are experiencing the same issues as myself – I wrote to the head office who then put me in touch with another division who have told me there is nothing they can do – again I wrote to head office and no response – needless to say I won’t be dealing with this company ever again and will select a different make of microphone for my recording work – very disappointing

I just wanted to take the time to thank…

I just wanted to take the time to thank RODE for their service. I got a brand new RODE mic in the mail yesterday which I was not expecting at all after 2 years of (ab)use of the old one.

I didn't even request a new mic. I was just hoping to get it repaired! But you guys just replaced it! THAT's service.

Thanks again

Fantastic customer service

I bought a Rode USB mic - great product, but there was a slight defect to a part of the mount. I emailed their customer services and they replied incredibly quickly, made the UK team aware of the issue, checked back in with me and got a replacement part posted through my door within 48 hours. Really impressive stuff - thanks, Rode!
