An unhappy property marketing experience

We went on the market with Roger Parry of Welshpool in April 2025 after failing to sell with McCartneys. After 5 months of disappointing service, we have returned to McCartneys. During our period on the market with Roger Parry, the photoset in our online ads in Rightmove and On The Market suddenly appeared badly out of order giving a chaotic look to the ads. Of course this was not due to anything that Roger Parry actually did, but the estate agent is the custodian of those ads, and this happened on Parry's watch. We got no viewers through Parry's for two and a half months, and while that in itself is not their fault, not once during that time did they reach out to us to see if we wanted to reconsider the asking price, refresh the ads or take other action. Whenever I tried to pin down the staff at Parry's on the true market value of our property, they were vague and evasive. In some of the email communications from the staff at Parry's, they failed to address me by name, which is a pretty basic error for an organisation which is supposed to offer a personal service to clients who are undergoing one of life's most stressful events. When we had become disillusioned and I wrote to enquire what their withdrawal fee was, I was simply informed that they didn't have one and that we just needed to give two weeks' notice - even with this clear indication that we weren't happy, no effort was made to reach out to find out why. That was the last nail in the coffin and crystallised our view that we had no sense at all of being their valued clients. To crown it all, when I emailed Parry's to say we were withdrawing, they reacted by whipping us straight off the market without consulting us instead of observing the two weeks' notice period, which would have left us with an unbargained for and unasked for period off the market. To be fair, they reinstated our ads and apologised as soon as I complained.

Our unhappy time with Parry's made us see that with McCartneys, we get a sense that they're doing their best for us, they keep in touch and they consistently provide a personal service. Regretfully, I cannot recommend Roger Parry of Welshpool.

Completely agree with the other…

Completely agree with the other reviewer on here. Sadly I have had a very similar experience of unreasonable deductions being proposed from my deposit totalling £320 when I left the property in a better state than when I moved in. Avoid at all costs. Also being ignored and no one has tried to help whatsoever to resolve the situation. Disgraceful when I have been nothing but a reliable and honest tenant.

Another example of a company with NO scruples, they just want £££'s

Very disappointed with Roger Parry Estate Agents. They treat you well whilst you are paying them money however the moment you cancel a contract with them (move out of rented premises) they do not want to know. They have treated my wife and I like criminals, we agreed a deposit deduction of £46 to cover lightbulbs, then the same afternoon I received an email stating they wanted £335 for "cleaning", obviously I queried - they will not provide any breakdown of the "quote" and are now ignoring my emails. They have withheld my deposit refund for over a month and I have now started proceeding via the Deposit Protection Service. I have received a letter stating that they now require £435.00 for "cleaning" with no explanation whatsoever!!!! The incredibly frustrating thing is that we had to clean the house when we moved in because of the state of it and now we have left it in a much better condition! Lesson learnt people - do NOT trust them, take a lot of photos and ensure you start proceedings with the deposit scheme ASAP as these cowboys will not play ball. Sadly just another example of a company trying to screw over the customer for a little few £££'s. My advice DO NOT USE ROGER PARRY.
