Reliably yielding a prolific crop of delicious red onions, these alliums will reward you with fabulous flavour without much effort. With an intense, sharp and utterly moreish onion flavour, red onions work amazingly in salads, pickled in cider vinegar and served in fajitas. Mid to late-maturing; harvest your red onions fresh in late summer through to autumn. The onions produced are of a good size and an intense colour - no need to pop to the shops anymore! Wonderfully easy to grow, these plants are perfect for beginners trying their hand at vegetable growing for the first time.

As it was the end of their season they weren't the best. Unfortunately most never survived, unlike their white counterparts

Arrived good condition. Unfortunately I left them without cover and the little rabbits ate the tops but they are growing back

First time purchase with Roots. Got these onions alongside the beginners allotment large box. Very disappointed as it was delivered in a mess with the other plants. 5 of my 11 plants where damaged. 3 of them have now died. Asked Roots for replacement but was out of stock. So what I got in return was a disappointing £3 refund out of the £57 i spent with them. Still waiting for a response after 5days.

Very healthy plants, arrived well packaged. Have planted them out and they seem to be growing very well.

I have passed my feedback once already. The great boxes you use with the bold writing on is not enough for your courier to remember what way up the box should be during transit. It had obviously been anything but that. when I opened the box one tray was without 75% of its content and the other tray had 20% disruption. I had taken pictures but I am void of basic technical knowledge as to how I can download them.

If you’re worried about growing onions from seed these are really wonderful to go for as red onions are my favourite and these are really good quality ones. And would recommend to all.

I gave 5 star rating for a high quality of plants. They arrived in great condition and really well packed. Definitely i will buy more plants in the future from roots plants.

The plants were dispatched in a large box which had 2 containers in it with no lids. The white onions were fine and arrived safely but the red onions were loose in the bottom of the box amongst the compost. I had to pick them up out of the bottom of the box and put them back into their tray. They are of no use to me as they are small plants and they have been mixed up with the compost, so I’m not too happy about that.

I’m sorry to say plants arrived looking extremely past their best. Most of the plants were straw coloured and by the time I separated them all apart I was left with about 25 plants, none in great shape. I planted those and about 20-22 have made it and are growing, although a few of them are still looking very weak. I haven’t complained to the company so I can’t comment on their customer service. I just hope some of my plants do reach maturity.
