Not self-fertile (Group 3) so needs another apple tree nearby to pollinate Some apple trees need another apple tree to pollinate their flowers in order to produce fruit. The trees would need to be flowering at the same time, which forms the basis for “pollination groups”. In built up areas, it is unlikely that there wouldn't be another suitable apple tree within the required radius. Of the three bareroot trees we bought this is the furthest along re: leaves and top growth. We bought in April so at the end of the season for bareroot trees. Worcester Pearmain is a family favourite and there was always one of these in both my childhood homes.

Two of the branches were broken. I don't think it will affect the growth of the tree - I've cut it neatly with secateurs. A nicely balanced tree. Hoping for good results. The on-line planting instructions were valuable as I'm an amateur.
