On the recommendation of several people we booked for Sunday lunch. The food was very good but the overall experience was let down by slow service and the total lack of anyone in charge or being present "front of house". The venue is lovely, if a little lacking in atmosphere, but to try and run a restaurant from the bar is not a good look. We had intended to order dessert but no-one came to take our orders so after a 30 minute wait we asked for the bill instead.

We have been using Royal Norwich ever since it has opened, both for golf and to eat. However whilst the course and the ambience of the club is second to non, this can not be said for the service and the quality of the food. The service is very very slow, long time getting drinks, and the food was okay but the roast potatoes were un edible and leathery. We then have to request our bill 5 times, after 40 minutes we got up to walk out and advised the server responsible for providing us with the bill, that we were leaving unless she provided the bill now. Thankfully it was not a busy day, I dread to think how it would have been otherwise. I had friends visiting from London and was very disappointed and let down with the experience that we had. I spoke to other locals friends who were also dining at the time, and many felt the same. It is a great shame that lack of focused service and total quality control regarding all aspects of the food served is letting the venue down.

I was invited to a round at Royal Norwich with three friends. Upon arrival, parking is plentiful and the walk to the clubhouse is close. Great service at the restaurant prior to the round. The service in the pro shop is first rate and the prices reasonable. The driving range, pitching range, and the putting practice area are in great shape and just a short walk to the 1st tee. As for the course, it’s in excellent shape and plays fair and rewards good shots. The putting surfaces are almost recovered from their spring tining and sanding. They have very subtle putting lines that make putting challenging and rewarding when read right. Overall, worth the price of admission and enjoyable round.

Very nice course but the way they run the club is shambolic, even when making exceptions for Covid-19. So 5 stars for the course and 1 star for the club itself.
