Staff were friendly and knowledgeable

Staff were friendly and very knowledgeable about products - either face-to-face or getting back with the more specific technical details. The products we were shown were preferable to others we had viewed from other manufacturers. Seems like they are better suited for larger projects than smaller ones.

Delivery took two weeks longer than should have done, constant phone calls and chasing and no one confirming delivery. When it was due to be delivered it didn’t turn up, was told delivery lorry had broken down. Was then delivered two days later. Would not use again!!! Had paid £500 for delivery!!!

The whole developent that I live on has faulty doors from Russel Timber. I have been advised that there is a case against them but they deny, blame and gasslight their customers. To say it was a stressful experience dealing with them is an understatement.
I was lucky in the end to be able to find another contractor who did the repair job for half the price, was respectful and confirmed what I already knew about the malfunctioning of the Russel timber doors.

AVOID AVOID AVOID

Based on my experience and similar reviews, the windows provided by Russell Timber Technology appear to be of substandard construction and not as advertised. Within a year, the coating began to deteriorate, raising serious concerns about the quality of materials and workmanship. I also question whether the paint system used is appropriate for the intended purpose, and whether proper steps, such as applying a pre-paint primer, were even followed.

In line with other feedback, the company has attempted to shift blame onto the customer, citing issues like improper window cleaning or professional painting not meeting their unspecified standards. Additionally, they charge over £500 for an inspection, which, in my opinion, seems to be a way to avoid taking responsibility for the product's issues.

Based on this experience, I would caution anyone considering doing business with this company and AVOID AVOID AVOID

Timber Windows and Doors - A bombshell for future generations?

Timber Frame Windows and Doors – A Financial Bombshell for future generations, or maybe sooner than that.

My family home, bought six years ago, is a modern timber framed property fitted with timber doors and windows. The advantage of having timber doors and windows adds insulation value to the already high insulation value timber framed building. There has been a lot of publicity over the last few years about the advantages of using sustainable timber for house building with many claims made for the longevity of such products.

The promised insulation efficiency of our new home has been proved over a couple of bad winters; heating costs are very low compared to our old property.

Unfortunately, we are now facing a considerable replacement cost for our patio doors.
Whilst sanding the outside of the doors in preparation for painting, I noted a spongy feel to the left-hand door at the bottom left of the hinge side. Poking it with my finger caused the paint to fall away leaving a hole visible which went well into the door – I later found that the rot had almost penetrated to the inside, into the kitchen.

Contacting my builder, didn’t help, their response, probably the same as any major developer, was that I was outside the two year guarantee period and I would have to contact the company that supplied and fitted the door.

This I did, initially via email. The response was a question – what maintenance had I carried out on the door. Further letters, via Royal Mail Special Delivery, have been ignored.

Failing to communicate with a customer in this way suggests to me that there could be a problem with the timber framed system generally and the company finds itself in a difficult position because accepting responsibility could open the floodgates.

I know that other home-owners on this estate have actually gone to the very expensive option of changing their windows and frames to plastic. This is not an option that I find acceptable.
