Badly trained pilots and the worst customer service!

We booked a roundtrip from Lisbon to Funchal, Madeira and the pilots could not land the plane at Funchal two approaches in a row. They diverted to Porto Santo where most passengers got off because they were too scared to stay on the plane. We stayed on and the plane finally landed at Funchal. With that in mind we decided to return one day earlier, not to miss our connection back to the US. I changed the return flight on the Ryanair website, knowing they would charge a 45EU change fee, but they charged me over 300EU which turned out to be more than the current one way back. When I contacted customer "service" I was on hold for 5 hours before giving up. When I emailed them after the trip, they completely ignored my complaint and just came with their standard answer that they don't provide refunds.

I would have saved a lot of money if instead of Ryanair I would have booked with TAP. Never again!

Absolutely terrible experience

Absolutely terrible experience. The app simply does not scan documents, it just keeps “thinking” forever and never captures anything. No manual button, no fallback, nothing. I wasted a ridiculous amount of time trying to verify my documents with zero result.

This is not a user error, it’s a broken system.

Complete and utter rip off!

Complete and utter rip off!! I booked a package with to Spain with my family of 5. We flew out with easy jet no hussle, flying back was with Ryanair, at the check in desk we were told, since we hadn't check in online we had to by 30€ per head to get the boarding passes, because apparently we had no seats. I asked them our names were on the tickets right? then give us the boarding passes or refund, since we were not going to seat in the cockpit or in the cargo, they kept saying it was Ryanair policy??? Thats extortion, theft!!! They made no sense, All he needed to do was scan the passports and issue boarding passes, they were lucky!! I was with my kids and they had school I was ready to protest if need be. Unfortunately I had to pay € 30 per head!!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

Payment problems

I flew with Ryanair for a number of years and more recently they have gone down hill.

On my recent flight from Bristol to Bydgoszcz they wouldn't accept Barclays Visa and Revolut debit cards to pay for my breakfast. They wouldn't except cash either, which is totally unfare. This has happened twice in a row now.

They no longer let you travel with paper tickets. A print out can't go wrong unlike a smart phone. I have my right to carry a back up. If they are worried about the environment, rest assured I do recycle all my tickets. They always use to provide in-flight magazines and now they don't which is a shame.

I know at the end of the day they are a cheap airline but over the last few years they have become unfair.

Ryanair Cabin Bag Enforcement — Inconsistent and Stressful Experience

The only real way to avoid Ryanair charges now seems to be either booking Aer Lingus and accepting the extra €20–€80, or making absolutely sure your bag is well within Ryanair’s dimensions.
I’ve used the same bag for years on Ryanair flights with no issues. Recently, I was stopped because the lower pockets of my fabric suitcase slightly exceeded the 20cm depth — even though the top of the case was within limits. My daughter’s hard suitcase was about half an inch over the 20cm depth and she was charged. I avoided a charge on my fabric case by taking items out.
However, while I was paying for my daughter’s case, staff realised we were travelling as a group of four. My husband and son were already passed through. They then called my husband back — who had already passed through earlier without any issue — and charged him after rechecking his bag. The fact that he was called back to have his bag rechecked after mine passed the criteria is what annoyed me the most about the experience.
I fully respect any system designed to improve passenger safety. But if this were purely about safety, every passenger’s bag would be checked consistently. Instead, it was obvious in the queue that larger bags were not stopped.
It feels like the system relies on selective enforcement — so passengers continue to take the chance by not scrutinising the bag dimension, hoping they’ll get through like they did before. That way, the charges — and the revenue — keep coming.
Travelling with Ryanair is a very stressful experience and this is just one part of the journey that is stressful

If I could give Ryanair no stars, I would. Appalling.

If I could give Ryanair no stars, I would. Utterly awful experience. Yesterday I flew with my autistic son. I paid extra to make sure we had seats together and at the back to manage his anxiety. At the last minute, the flight was put back and I was randomly reallocated seats so we were nowhere near each other. Asked for help at customer services to be told there was nothing they could do as ‘it wasn’t fair on other passengers’. They told me to ask crew on board. Crew on board were equally unhelpful and what was worse was that they were all rude and indifferent. My son was extremely agitated and if it wasn’t for the kindness of other passengers, I don’t know what would have happened.
Utter lack of any care towards disabled passengers and worrying ignorance around their duty towards disabled passengers. Frankly disability discrimination. I will be taking this further.
Whilst on the flight, there was a medical emergency- young man collapsed, and the flight crew had no idea of what they were doing. All ran round in a panic, no basic medical equipment from what I could see. A passenger took charge thank goodness and the gentleman was ok thankfully. But very concerning.
I would absolutely never travel on this airline again. Appalling experience.

Very Poor Service and Unprofessional Staff Behavior

There was absolutely no sense of humanity from the staff.

We had a flight from Girona to Weeze (Düsseldorf). At the baggage drop, we waited for about 20 minutes and there was no one there. When someone finally showed up, they were rude and told us the gate was already closed and that we should go upstairs.

When we went upstairs, everything was already closed and we were not allowed to enter anymore — even though we still had time before the flight.

The whole situation was handled very unprofessionally and without any respect for passengers.

Very poor experience with Ryanair

Very poor experience with Ryanair. Family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids), all with Italian & British passports. Outbound flight fine, but for the return your system auto check-in used Italian passports and failed for our kids.

We were forced to queue at the airport for manual check-in because your system doesn’t allow adding or changing passport details. Completely unacceptable and badly designed.

Fix your system.

Denied travel to Venice as passport…

Denied travel to Venice as passport expires in Nov 2026 , but issued more than 10 years.. The airlines need to do more to advise before we get to the gate - they know the date of travel and the date of passports when we check in!

Dont bother unless you want your flight cancelled

Booked flights to Cyprus for October
Then received an email from Ryanair advising they cancelled the outbound flight due to 'commercial reasons'. Ryanair have now put all their prices up which is about £200 extra per person. No offer of honouring the original prices or compensation.
