Due to mobility issues my local authority arranged for a second handrail to be fitted to the stairs at my address to add to my safety. The handrail that they fitted was 45mm O/D (no end caps) and the END CAP that I purchased identified the correct cap to order for this size of handrail. Order placed and goods received exactly as described, I'm now a happy chappy, Cap arrived 9:30am, visitors arriving 11:00am, not much time to get the caps fitted. O/D of wooden rail 45mm O/D, I/D of cap 42mm I/D - read web page quickly for clue as how to fit them? - NEED CENTERING TOOL?Common sense prevailed and with difficulty and panic, I had to drill "pin hole" in center of rail and hope I get it right. Screwed cap inner to rail and dressed down the excess wood in a radii to be acceptable to look correct when I fitted the cap outer in place. Good job well done!! Did I get it wrong and missed ordering the drill guide? does not matter now for me, my job is done but maybe an instruction on the catalogue to order this item could be made clearer, or was it my mistake?
The description of the product did not meet my expectation due to only one end cap being supplied for the ‘modular system’. I understood this ‘modular system’ to be complete for a handrail which has two ends! Hence, I had to place a further order for end cap for the other end of my handrail. There should be clearer description and opportunity to order a set of two to avoid disappointment when only one is received.
