Samaritans is the charity that provides free emotional support, 24 hours a day. We have been training people in emotional support, suicide prevention and wellbeing and resilience for 70 years.

Now we’re bringing our expertise to organisations to promote better mental health and wellbeing for all. Samaritans Training and Engagement Programmes supports organisations to train their people and teams to spot and support anyone struggling to cope.

Our experienced and knowledgeable facilitators deliver interactive, engaging and impactful courses in half-day or full-day sessions, available as face-to-face or online courses.

The courses available are:

• Conversations with vulnerable people
• Managing suicidal conversations
• Building resilience and wellbeing
• Supporting your team (Managers’ course)
• Making a suicide intervention
• Listening skills
• Understanding and responding to grief
• Understanding and responding to anger

It's important to listen.

The delivery addressed the title of the module.
Good support material.
The timing of the workshop segments was excellent.
However, one most important element was given short shift.

Managing Suicidal Conversations Training

The training was well delivered and tailored to the particular experiences of the participants. I left the training feeling much better equipped to support people who are experiencing suicidal crisis, and well equipped to have conversations with a wide range of people experiencing different levels of emotional distress. Thank you!

Great course with practical tools

This was a great training course with effective and practical tools. The trainer tailored the content to incorporate some of the more bespoke issues that my team faces and it was so useful.

the course was well received by those…

the course was well received by those who did it. However, it is worth warning people that they may need some peer support when doing it - our team were very effected by the content and spent some time talking to each other to process what they were learning. The course was very hard to organise - it took a long time (many months) from first making an enquiry to getting a response and communication was not easy. the training was done in 2021 but the date box below will not allow me to put that in
