High charges and made a terrible mess…

High charges and made a terrible mess of my pensions. A formal complaint was filed with it 7 months ago and it simply refused to investigate. It now tells me that I can take it to the Financial Ombudsman without their referral letter, which will take many more months for it to be looked at.
Sanlam is a nasty and crooked company. Go Sanlam.

Where is MY money…?

I put in a request for withdrawal of some of my funds as per the new two pot system and they replied that this would be completed by the 26th of September. It is now almost a month later and I am still waiting. Not only this, but when enquiring why this is taking so long they either do not respond or keep shifting the date as if that was the original date. The best I got so far is that they have the money, but due to a technical issue on their side they can’t get it into my account. This was two weeks ago. Unexceptionable.

Lack of communication

I wrote to them on the 7th June regarding a deceased estate. Death certificates were included with the letter.
One month on they have not bothered to reply or even confirm my enquiry.
I have tried to phone but they not answer. 20 minutes on the phone and no answer.
This really is not good enough.

Don't both with this company - better to put your money into a bank savings account

I have been a customer for 36 years now, and have never felt particularly happy with them. Performances have been WAY below other competitor investments - both that I have have only achieved the equivalent of putting funds into a savings account with just over 3.5% return. And recently I've been asked to increase monthly funding of an assurance policy by 300%, or accept the end payout to be reduced to 60% of the policy, even though 70% through the policy early payments and returns should mean 80+% already achieved. They don't respond to queries, they fund managers don't work on behalf of their clients, and have a shocking performance history - why they are still getting new business/referrals is unbelievable.

Misleads and dishonest

Misleads and dishonest. I was told a complete untruth when asked about taking lump sum from my pension. I was told that sanlam would contact hmrc for tax code so they could take correct amount of tax....received lump sum minus emergency estimated tax
Their agent also said.dont worry you can fill a firm into hmrc and get a refund straightaway!!!! Hmrc confirmed completely incorrect and false. Currently taking 8 weeks minimum....leaving me in a bad way.
It's my money....you would think that wouldn't you!!! But clearly not. Its no wonder Sanlam are being taken over when they go against fca rules and lie to clients

My personal experience with Sanlam was not good.…

My personal experience with Sanlam was not good. The problem with Sanlam Life and Pensions CASPL is that you can't speak to an investment manager and they are extremely slow in what they do. The structure of the company keeps changing and even more changes are taking place now. I feel that the company has been less than fair in my dealings with them and I have made many valid complaints about their lack of service and attention to detail.
