No care. No humanity!
I recently had a very disappointing experience with SBB CFF FFS. I was treated like a criminal by ultra-rude staff and fined CHF 100 for allegedly not having a valid ticket. I always travel with a valid ticket and have never engaged in fare evasion.
The staff did not allow me sufficient time to search for my ticket properly, insisting that I was wasting their time. They presumed I was faking the situation and fined me on the spot. I refused to sign the fine as I knew I was not in the wrong.
I wrote to SBB CFF FFS to appeal the fine, but received no response. I have since received the fine and paid it, although I still believe it was unjustly imposed.
Switzerland is a wonderful country with a reputation for excellent services, but this experience taints that image. A little trust and humanity from the staff would go a long way. I hope the company takes steps to improve its customer service to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Delays and switching platform trains
Delays, delays, delays.
Switching platform 1 minute before departure of a train
SBB mobile app doesn't work, website also not working - thank god for tramline
SBB mobile app doesn't work, so I tried their webpage - that isn't working either "unexpected error occurred". Unbelievable. So I used trainline. How is this possible??
RACISM and NEVER EVER Buy a Swiss…
RACISM and NEVER EVER Buy a Swiss Travel Pass RACISM when you fo in Switzerland.
Arrived from London to Tirano (Italy) were the RhB railway network depart,
Spent 397 CHF for a 6 days continues Swiss travel pass.
DO NOT DI IT IT A SCAM.
At the RhB railway ticket office in Tirano I explained I was in hotel in Alp Grum and I expressed that I would like to take the Glacier Express, Bernard Express and many other during my 6 day stay in Switzerland.
My pass started the day after the 5th of June 2024. The night before I had to spend 1hour and Half to understand how was possible for me take the glacier express from Sant. Moritz very close to my stay Hotel a few km away. Than I realised that the glacier Express arrive to Zermat at 19:00 something so and there was for me any chance to go back to my hotel in the Grigion Canton were my hotel.
First red Flag.
I could not do it.
Than i thought oh well i will make the route only from Sant, Moritz to Chur. Even with the pas of 397CHF you need to spend 5CHF for mandatory reservation on the Expresses. I went to the ticket office to make the 5 CHF reservation and a member of the thicket office staff said “ You can not do that”, sharply without any apologies.
Already infuriated because she could not show me the little print “why i cannot do that”
I carry on on a normal train using the pass to Chur to the go to the big ticket office to make a complaint a ask for full refund.
I expressed to the ticket officer in CHUR my frustrations I told her were i told my all rules of the pass are confusing, the promises the moon on the Earth, instead what you get is a SCAM ticket for which each evening you need to use a rocket scienze engineer and super computer to put a plan for the day after considering that could be restriction never mention anywhere. The girl at the thicket office in Chur after expressing my frustration of the thousand of restriction of the pass she started blaming the ticket staff officer in tirano (Italy) that did not explain to me all restriction.
This girl expressed RACIST COMMENTS of the RhB personal in Tirano when’re I bought the pass. She said something like this : “what do you expect they are Italians in the ticket office in tirano”.
I am Italian I am been living in London for more that 30 years so she could not ever guessed she was speaking to an Italian As I was speaking to her my fluent English.
GERRRRRRR.
I asked full refund she said she could not do that, after a little faith of my right as EU citizen and Switzerland is part of the EEA so must respect customer service se and passenger right under their EEA agreement,
Eventually I was refunded 246 CHF losing 133 CHF for a journey that cost 53 CHF from Alp Grum to Chur.
She took away my pass, refunded the 246 CHF that arrived on my account after 4 days and the glass on the cake, she asked me to buy the return ticket to alp grum for another 53 CHF.
Total loss of 186 CHF. DISGUSTING.
Believe me I was going to be seek and vomit on her desk.
DEAR FRIEND NEVER EVER GO to Switzerland TO SPEND YOUR HOLIDAY or your will be scammed.
Poor the people from Japan, Korea and USA that are scammed every day with this “carrot in front of the stick”
What you get its just the stick
Shame of you SBB CFF FFS this make look bad a fantastic country like Switzerland.
WHAT A SAD STORY SWITZERLAND YOU ARE BETTER THAT THAT.
What hasn't been said already..
What hasn't been said already... when they get to this low score for so long, there's no point in helping.
The web page is attrocious and misleading; specially for the unreasonable prices that they ask, which will only may the airlines happy as they can definitely compete.
For the money that we pay the service…
For the money that we pay the service is bad! The state should put a limit to this and the price should be controlled. Why don't we see any initiative yo reduce the price and allow for other competitor to offer best service? I woukd decinitively vote for this.
We are travelling from lausanne to zurich and had super service
We are travelling from lausanne to Zurich in 1st class. I went to the restaurant which was full but the waiter helpfully gave me a menu and said he would come to our seat with our lunch. He arrived immediately and also brought our lunch and subsequently drinks immediately with professionalism and much good nature.
His name is Y. Goudela and number 502627. He should be recongnised and congratulated for his truly excellent customer service!
The train at 06.17 with the direction…
The train at 06.17 with the direction Stettbach- Zürich HB ALWAYS too late!! And I always miss the train with the direction Zürich HB- Solothurn at 06.30 and next connection at 07.00!! it's meants ,that I am too late in the hospital where I am working! I don't understand, why sbb informed about the train in Stettbach at 06.17, if it's meistens at 06.20 or late ...??
We live in 2024..SBB was
We live in 2024..SBB was , and I mean was a world wide ikon of being on time which isn't the case anymore. Some SBB long distance trains doesn't have any whatsoever possibility to sell any drinks or food. On long distance trains not possible?? Come on SBB, can your reputation be lower?? Time to replace the CEO Mr. DUCROT with someone who can perform better. This is a shame for Switzerland 🇨🇭!!
Trains are ALWAYS late
Trains are ALWAYS late, missed connections. Gone are the days when watches could be set according to Swiss trains. Sad
The Best in making fines!
They are really good in making you fines for every reason like, but they don't treat theirself the same.
The fine you if you do the tickets 2 minutes late (Zurich-Basel direct) but they are often late and don't give back a coin.
And then this stupid half tax that it's just racist against all people that are coming to Switzerland just to visit you....
Go with the bike if you can!!!
And of course if there is a train in common with Italy Germany or french is never sbb fault!!!
Toxic client service. You want to be honest, you are treated dishonestly and like a cheater..
Can clients make mistakes, or they should be sanctionned even if they acted in good faith?
Are your controllers not able to distinguish between the cases? Are they just able to act in a nasty and very unfriendly way?
I had a return ticket. I never usually buy such a ticket, I am used to the 24-hour tickets from Zürich. This time I was staying overnight in Konstanz, I sincerely thought the ticket was also valid 24 hours and the return would be valid until 18:20 the next day.
Your machines allow someone to buy two-ways tickets late in the evening.
Then the controller came and wanted me to pay 27 francs, which I AGREED. I even told her, I agree to pay now to avoid problems, but then I want to complain, because something is not normal.
Then this person asked me to sign something. I trusted her. She told me "Beschwerden". I sincerly thought she was registering that I wanted to complain. But she NEVER told me this was a fine. Then she left.
By the way, my German is limited.
I had a return ticket. Even out of validity, the operation was financially neutral for you. The trip had been paid for.
I had the intent of having a ticket for the return. There was no intent to cheat or fraud on my side.
It is my right as a customer to complain. If you are clever, you can use it to improve your services.
I had agreed to pay the 27 francs. I even had my credit card in hand.
Your controller could have simply told me the procedure for the complaint. It would have been professional. Instead, she decided to fool me. She never told she was fining me.
Bad experience
I had to go to winterthur from kreuzlingen for an important appointment and having a pre-paid card I stamped it at the machine. This is then valid for 4 hours. On the way there When the ticket controller came to check tickets I asked her if I would need to stamp it again on my return as I would be back in that time period. She said that i didn't need to.
So of course I didn't. On the way back, I was approached by a very unfriendly and quite aggressive ticket controller! He gave me a fine and told me he is not responsible for what his co-workers do or say... that she must have made a mistake. To my cost?? To this day sbb are after me to pay this fine which I refuse to do as I did nothing wrong. They are now threatening to take me to court!
Be aware when using this service. They have little to no compassion, unfriendly staff, and astronomical prices. But I don't think they care! All they want is our money. unfortunately that's what makes switzerland go round! It's all about money.
SBB - please school your staff properly so that customers do not have such horrible experiences on your trains.

Utterly garbage usless fail of a company. Overpriced and perma delays, don’t use public transport in switzerland

I think I haven’t met a friendly member of sbb staff in my life… (today was no different) even the board restaurant staff is cranky and rude…
The Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) offers…
The Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) offers a convenient luggage service promising door-to-station delivery, which is highly beneficial. However, a notable inconvenience arises as the luggage counter for collection operates from 7:30 AM onwards. This poses a significant challenge for individuals with an 8:00 AM flight, as they may encounter difficulty in accessing their luggage promptly.
If the SBB continue this way they should rename it Deutsch Bahn
Raising the price and decreasing the quality of service, this is the opposite of what a public service should stand for. If the SBB continue this way they should rename it Deutsch Bahn.
Rude and horrible. Service often late or interrupted
After so many encounters with rude employees, I am sick of this company. Nothing can ruin your day like an interaction with the horrible SBB.
This company used to be good. Their prices were more fair and their employees were more humane & understanding. Now, their service is more expensive and really bad, plus their employees are rude and completely divorced from reality. It’s honestly been really sad to see this company deteriorate.
Bad experience with SBB CFF
I often hear that Switzerland is the country with the safest tourist destinations, but unfortunately when I traveled to Switzerland in January 2024, I had a bad and disappointing experience.
At that time my family and I traveled for 6 days in Switzerland starting from Zurich, Grindewald, Zermatt, and the final city was St. Moritz. In order not to burden the trip, I used the SBB CFF “Luggage station to station” service, where I dropped off 3 large luggage at Zurich Station and sent them to St. Moritz Station. When I was picking up luggage in St. Moritz, the officer on duty informed me that one of my luggage was missing and told me to submit a loss report via the SBB CFF website. After I submitted the report, SBB CFF sent an automatic email reply stating that it would be processed and completed within 10 days. During these 10 days, SBB CFF and St. Moritz, has been communicative and quite helpful. In the end, my luggage was not found and SBB CFF paid CHF 2,000 of my claim CHF 5,000 because the luggage contained branded bags, clothes and other valuables.
Even though SBB CFF paid undervalue of my claim, it is not material value issue, but the items in the luggage are very important and the impact caused by losing the luggage more than what the value of SBB CFF paid.
Apart from that, what I am confused about is why a company as big as SBB CFF can lose a luggage even though the delivery is in close loop system, namely from Zurich Station to St. Moritz Station.
In fact, what was disappointing was that there was no apology at all from SBB CFF for what the problem they caused.
I have traveled a lot to various countries, and the level of security in Japan and Singapore is much better than Switzerland. So I hope that this will be a lesson for tourists who will be traveling to Switzerland, to be careful, and of course I will remind people in Indonesia to be careful and it's better not to use these luggage delivery services!
The SBB service used to be very good…
The SBB service used to be very good but has been getting worse and worse through the years. Trains are getting delayed and even cancelled, while paying a very expensive ticket of 14 francs for 24 hours. Sometimes the trains would be short when there are a lot of people causing the train to be completely overloaded!
