Great Tower

The staff, activities and facilities were all amazing, as always. There was a little inconsistency in how many goes the children got at some activities. For example, 1 group only got 1 go on the zipline when the other group managed 3 or 4.

We had a very enjoyable stay and look forward to returning next year. Great site, great team, great experience for our pupils.

We loved our stay

We loved our stay. Staff friendly and helpful. Our site (8) was great. A little out of the way which made it feel that we were the only ones there. Great location being in the trees. More flat ground would be useful though!

A great residential facility

We had a great time with our King's Trust Team. Staff very welcoming and friendly and the site was great to explore and well maintained equipment and resources. Lodge was basic but met all our needs. A good choice of activities on site for our residential trip. With a great food menu and plenty of choice.

Activity Weekend

Absolutely fantastic weekend thoroughly enjoyed by all the Scouts. A full and varied program of activities was put on. The instructors were friendly and assertive when needed and also encouraged and motivated the youngsters to give it their best shot and challenge themselves. Continually reinforced a teamwork ethic and got everyone to participate at some point over the weekend. Will definitely attend again in the future.

Active

Organised, friendly, safe, active: our children gained a great deal from the experiences and the teaching staff had opportunity to identify needs in children of which we were unaware! Super-helpful! We will be back.

63rd Bristol at Great Tower 2024

The 63rd Bristol Scout Group spent an amazing week at the Great Tower Site in early August 2024 and the team there were brilliant. The facilities are just amazing for young people and offer real adventure in a wonderful site. We cannot fault the support the team gave us in the run up and during the week and we'll be back whenever we can. Thank you!

Great tower tented village

The site team from begining to end were friendly and supportive. They did everything within their control to make the experience as easy and fun as possible.
Only thing holding back slightly was that the fercilties we booked were not quite what we thought they would be based on website information.

Muddy but happy!

Helpful, considerate staff on hand to explain and assist. Site was well kept despite rain and wind! Looked after us really well. Staff moved us in to shelter when a gale threatened. Site was very muddy due to weather, started a bit late season bare and turned into a quagmire, but the weather was described reasonably as unprecedented. Staff helped out and checked on us regularly.

The overall site and staff we amazing.

The overall site and staff we amazing. Site conditions were kept at a reasonable level taking into account the busyness of the centre. Staff we tentative to a level that I have not experienced before on any Scout site. Continually asking if we were ok, if there was anything we needed and always immediately actioning any concerns. Instructors were well versed in their skill set, friendly and worked/interacted well with the YP's.

Yet another fantastic summer half term of fun & adventure

We had a fantastic time this summer half term, yet again. All the activities, especially the water activities, were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. The new high ropes structures notably the Jacobs Ladder are excellent.
All the staff and instructors are very friendly, welcoming and engaging, as well as efficient.
It is worth doing a recce of your proposed camping area before booking to ensure it suits your needs as they are all very different and vary in degrees of ruggedness. The bunk house accommodation (used in winter 2023) is also great.
I've been bringing groups of Scouts here from Shropshire for many years (except during Covid) and will continue to be do so for more to come.

Summer 2023 Great Tower Awesomeness

Summer 2023 we had a 5 day summer camp Monday to Friday at Great Tower Scout Adventure Centre in the Lake District. What a week it was!
The staff were amazing! They instructors really engaged so well with both kids and leaders. The activities that were put on were just right.
I will admit we cheated and had the catered package. I don’t regret it though. The food was amazing!
Overall our whole Troop were very happy with our experience and as a result we’re booking with Scout Adventures again this year but with a different site.
