Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the payment process, encountering issues with cards being declined despite having sufficient funds, and other transaction-related problems. Customers also frequently reported problems with the product itself, finding the cards unusable for online purchases or at various merchants, and often unable to pay bills. The website was a major source of frustration, with many struggling to log in, check balances, or even report problems due to its dysfunctional nature. Additionally, customer service was consistently criticized for being unhelpful, difficult to reach, and providing little resolution to issues. The pricing was also a concern, with unclear fee structures and unexpected charges.

Purchased $ 500.00 SecureSpend visa…

Purchased $ 500.00 SecureSpend visa gift card. 1st use funds blocked. Star Streep agent said" I am not authorized to give you a confirmatiin number" 2nd agent the confirmation # will be the last four of your new card. What is your, name address phone number. Had place of purchase give their address. Card arrived not in secure pkging. Used to purchase item for 499.00 and returned it hoping to get my cash in hand. Money from return was returned to the gift card and when used the 2nd time purchase of 35.00 was declined Returned to merchant, they called SecureSpend and they said funds would be available apeil 21, 2026 from today apr 15, 2026. Makes nno sense to me. So I made a report with my bank and hopefully they can get my 500.00 back to me and hopefully find out if these people are legit. There are two styles out here. The one with the 6 like paper holes on the back is legit (I belive) the one without is a fake I believe. Look before you purchase. It is hard to see the paper hole like dots look closely. I purchased the one with paper hole like dots on the outside back for 20.00 and it worked fine. Its not paper holes cut out it is paper hole dots still in tact. The fake ( my personal opinion) says call and put pin, real ( my personal opinion) does not. The alledged real one looks real the fake not so much. Look for the 6 paper holes on the back of the unopened pkg. before purchasing. The fake one does not. PLEASE check and compare the two styles if the merchsnt has both styles. When you open the fake you're done for when you see a wide white peice of tape. The LOOK FOR THE 6 PAPER HOLES STILL INTACT on the OUTSIDE BACK OF THE CARD BEFORE PURCHASING. Also the card rings up as onevanilla or vice versa and merchant tried to tell me I did not purchase it at her place of business and said " I don't know where your purchased it. The thing that saved me is the last 4 were on the receipt. $ 500 00 dollars gone unless my bank can get it back for me. BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE! Check for the six (6) intact paper holes. 20.00 isn't a whole lot so I can't say for sure what I call real isn't fake.

I had purchased 2 gift cards ($50 &…

I had purchased 2 gift cards ($50 & $25) both cards took my money and I haven't been able to use either one. I contacted their so called customer service and the rep had no answers for anything I asked for a sup and she couldn't answer anything. I was told they only have what's in their system. That is not good enough. I asked for the sups supervisor and was told they would call me back. Three times not one call back. So I'm going to start a class action lawsuit against this company. I will leave the information for my attorney once it is started in case anyone else would like to join in. With 116 of us plus all the people that haven't left a review we should all get a pretty large sum of money from these thrives. I tried to work this out without going this route but since they want to rob the customer than insult them with reps who don't even have access to the terms and conditions and the final insult is treating us like we are stupid idiots. Well I'm not stupid. I know the laws of business and on top of starting this lawsuit I'm reporting them to the BBB. These companies need to know we WILL NOT BE TREATED LIKE SHIT. Hopefully this company and all the others like it are shubdown for good. So check back for info on a class action lawsuit. Here's to friggin justice.

(1) star is undeserved - BEWARE

(1) star is undeserved. It's too bad there's no option here for negative star reviews. BEWARE! For your sake and sanity, if you want to have access to a "human customer service representative", do not use SecureSpend.com gift cards. Their phone number and website are designed so that customers cannot access live customer support when necessary.

This should not be legal

This should not be legal. Avoid SecureSpend.

In December 2025 I bought two SecureSpend prepaid cards ($50 and $150). From the very beginning they barely worked. Many legitimate online stores rejected them for no reason, which already made them frustrating to use.

I tried to spend the balance every couple of weeks thinking it was just merchant compatibility issues.

Then on March 9, 2026, both cards suddenly showed “insufficient balance.”

After fighting with their terrible website for what felt like forever (seriously, their site barely functions), I finally managed to check the transaction history. Both cards had fraudulent charges dated February 26, 2026 from random, sketchy websites I have never heard of and never used.

So somehow these cards are too unreliable to use at normal stores—but apparently perfectly usable for whoever drained the balance.

Even worse, the website is so broken that it’s extremely difficult to review transaction history or save evidence. I actually lost access to the transaction details again shortly after.

I reported the fraud immediately. Their response? Generic automated emails saying the investigation may take 2–3 months.

Two to three months… for stolen prepaid card funds.

No real support, no urgency, no transparency.

I’ve used prepaid cards like these for over a year without issues from other providers, so I trusted this one. That trust cost me $200.

Between the fraudulent charges, the dysfunctional website, and the practically nonexistent customer support, this entire service feels incredibly sketchy.

Honestly, it’s hard not to wonder how many people lose money like this.

If you’re thinking of buying a SecureSpend card, don’t.

There are far safer alternatives.

Omfg

Omfg. When I tell you it’s a scam, ITS A SCAM. This card apparently “works online” and guess what. IT DOESNT. I spent a pretty hefty amount of money on this damn card only for it to not work. Don’t even bother buying this.

Secure Spend should be charged with fraud

Purchased a $350 prepaid MasterCard without looking at the company behind it, thought they were all the same like Joker or Vanilla. Try to activate card on their website and the site just kept saying it was down and to try again later. Called the number on the card and their automated menu is setup to avoid talking to an actual person, sometimes hanging up on you. Gave up and went to use the card in store and it wouldn't work, same thing for online. Calling the number again I finally hit every menu option until I found the one that let me reach someone, of course someone who could barely speak English. Basically told me that I needed to forward a bunch of information to escalate it and maybe it would get taken care of. Looked online and people who have done this have went through a very lengthy process and still haven't gotten their money. SecureSpend is a scam and whoever is in charge should be jailed for fraud.

Purchased a SecureSpend gift card from…

Purchased a SecureSpend gift card from a retailer. It said the funds may not be available for 24 hours. Once the card is activated you are limited to where you can use it. After several failed attempts to make purchases at certain merchants (to include well known merchants) they freeze the card. You don't know this until you try to make a purchase. I tried making purchases at two pizza joints, a gas station, and an order through Door Dash. The card got declined even though it never exceeded the available balance. The customer service number has an automated system that makes it impossible to get a hold of customer service to rectify the situation. If you by some sheer miracle get a hold of someone in customer service they send you a replacement card in the mail only to have to deal with the aforementioned issues mentioned above

Wish I could give this card 0 stars

Wish I could give this card 0 stars. Bought it at Dollar General. Can't even get it registered. There's NO REFERENCE as to how to activate the card. You Tube has vids on how to activate,& they are all AI generated, no people!. Call the CUSTOMER SERVICE number,(only thing on the back of the card), and get the recording loop. No Operator!
I should have come here to check them out.
RIP OFF!!!

I would give zero stars if possible

I would give zero stars if possible. Tried to use this card at Walmart, declined. SecureSpend flagged as fraudulent. I called them and told them the transaction was legit, and they said too bad we have to send you a replacement card, and should look for a list of approved retailers, although they admitted Walmart is an approved retailer. Had to wait a week for a replacement card. So now I have to gamble on using the card anywhere. I just want to find a way to pull the money from the card, but you cant get it off Venmo.
