Sold a seriously dangerous vehicle

Bought an absolute lemon from this man.
On the drive home I realised he had lied non stop throughout the sales pitch. It had a slightly dented door, he said he'd bumped it in the workshop and would supply a new door. Fine I thought, until I found that the door had been bent for some considerable time, as the cab floor had rotted out due to water ingress. A small metal plate had been glued over the worst hole, and a small floor mat glued down ontop of that also, so they were definitely aware of the issue.
Due to the floor being soft as bread, the accelerator pedal came away from its mount, and jammed on full throttle when it came off its mount and under a piece of trim. Absolutely terrified, I reached for the key to turn it off - the key was not in the ignition, a cheap reproduction key just good enough to turn the barrel. Knocked it into neutral and came to a stop from 60mph at full revs before I could try the key again.

Then the truck cuts out at every opportunity, later found to be an issue with a fuel return line that had corroded off the tank but been stuck back on with silicon. Whole fuel system needed attention and the truck has never ran right.

The DPF was blocked from day 1, the truck tried to do a regeneration every 100 miles or so but could never complete it due to soot content.

7 months on from purchase and the truck is beyond economic repair. The garage its in now, its 3rd visit in 6 months, have advised not to pursue repairs as it will exceed the value of the truck.

Interestingly the seller received a positive review about the sale of an Izusu Grafter very shortly after purchase. He did not have another for sale.

I have tried calling several times and never been answered.

Sorted out a problem.

The van was well presented and attractively priced. After an issue with the DPF, the warranty company was unable to help. The dealer quickly stepped in and provided a fair solution to ensure I wasn't left out of pocket.

AVOID AT ALL COST

AVOID AT ALL COST. Dodgy back street dealer that misdescribes vehicle saying it was 1 owner full history just serviced. After travelling 5 hours on inspection V5 showed 2 owners missing service history hadn't just been serviced ready for new ownership.
The mercedes vito van looked great in pictures but had the poorest of paint jobs all in all not as described. AVOID

Avoid this seller

Avoid this seller. Refuses to answer calls after he sells a dodgy motor and forces you to lose out while pursuing him through trading standards.

Not worth the risk.
