Shaft-Ed

Installed a shaftec steering rack supplied by a major motor factor, upon opening the box the rack was in very poor condition. Bent pipes, poor quality refurb, poor workmanship and just crap product covered in black paint to make it look good to the untrained eye. Failed within three weeks of fitting to customer vehicle. Looks like the O rings were incorrectly fitted or just never replaced. ABSOLUTE RUBBISH! DO NOT WASTE TIME OR MONEY ON THIS CRAP

Shitty parts and no warranty at all

I bought a half shaft for my Discovery 4 that had a very small crack in a boot (after 14 years). I placed it less than one year ago, and after only 10 000 Km a boot completely broke, spreading black grease everywhere. The other end boot is cracked too. I sent an email to the vendor but he doesn't reply. It's was written 24 month warranty but it's just a lie, there is NO warranty at all.
Bill and dated pictures available.

Purchased a Shaftec hydraulic rack from…

Purchased a Shaftec hydraulic rack from a decent local motor factors. Never, ever again. Presentation is everything and I should have backed it as soon as I opened the box. All 4 bolts had previously snapped off in the rack and studs remained (head shield bolts). They were simply painted over. Banjo bolt thread had been stripped. Terribly poor now I’m fighting to get a solution.

I am now on my second failed electric…

I am now on my second failed electric power steering rack from Shaftec. The first one didn’t work at all after installation by the garage (diagnosed as torque sensor fault by the Mitsubishi dealer). The second rack was fitted as a warranty replacement in March. Last weekend it frightened me when it suddenly turned onto full left lock whilst driving and now continues to give full power only to full left lock.
Don’t be fooled by this company’s online assurances that their re manufacturing process and quality control are second to none! I spoke to Shaftec’s technical department who insulted my intelligence by suggesting that the faults on these s/racks might have been caused by poor installation by the garage!!

Near Death by Steering rack

Bought a Shaftec steering rack in June 2022 and after 6 months the pinion pulled out of the rack leaving me with no steering. Had to recover the car replace the rack again, replace the clock spring in the steering wheel that got broken, have the wheel alignment done and various warning lights reset all at my expense. Guess what? It's happened again, this time at about 50mph on a twisty road and I'm lucky to be alive. Had to recover vehicle, clock spring broke again, wheel alignment again and warning lights reset. What a load of dangerous garbage. Warning to everyone and don't buy this sub standard sh1te

Defective recon steering rack

Paid £538 for a recon steering rack then paid a garage to fit it then in 4 weeks and under 500 miles the rack leaked all the steering rack fluid out all over the road from both sides of the rack. Then I had to pay the garage to remove the rack and send it back to them to check the part which they said could take 8 weeks. So with the garage fee to fit and remove the part and my car being off the road for 8 weeks I really wish I hadn’t brought a recon rack off Shaftec as I am well out off pocket. So I wouldn’t buy recon parts off them, it’s not worth the risk because who’s going to pay for the labour fee, the power steering flush, power steering fluid and hire car ? The whole situation has been a nightmare .
