Ok on popular music but very poor on classical music. It seems to have got worse recently. Often fails to recognize pieces of music and frequently gets the performers wrong. Rarely does it give a comp... See more

Music that's not mass-market draws too many blanks from Shazam. As with that annoying Alexa, you have to double check you're not served up with a piano version of an orchestral piece, a Disneyed Sch... See more

Quite hopeless on classical

Quite hopeless when it comes to classical music. Even the most famouspieces of classical music it cannot find. But good on pops especially German schlager music.

Shazam usually worked fine

Shazam usually worked fine, but recently the app has been making a lot of mistakes. Simple tracks that used to be identified in a couple of seconds are now sometimes not recognized at all. This is especially noticeable when the music is playing quietly or in a video. This has made it inconvenient to use - you have to search for the song title manually. I hope they fix this in future updates.

History deleted

This app used to be good, until now.
All my history saved up over the years has suddenly been deleted and no way or advise on how to recover it. I fear after this huge letdown I won't ever use this again

It’s not good. Apple killed it.

Shazam, once a reliable music identification application, has changed drastically since its acquisition by Apple. Shazam’s ability to identify even obscure tracks from the 1940s made it a standout tool for music enthusiasts. Currently, its identification capabilities are severely limited due to its exclusive connection to Apple’s library. Before Apple acquired it, Shazam used various streaming platforms, including YouTube Music and Spotify. The application recommended that users visit these websites to listen to the artists they identified.

It is now entirely dependent on Apple’s limited library and a poor music recommendation algorithm. Unless it is generic music, such as from Taylor Swift, forget it. It won’t identify it. Two days ago, I tried to recognise a well-known hit from the movie Highlander, but Shazam failed. Apple’s strategic decisions have arguably prioritised corporate interests over user experience, raising concerns about the impact of such corporate consolidations. Corporate greed is a disease that must be eradicated. Avoid Shazam and seek a better alternative. It will save you stress and trouble. It’s better. It used to be my favourite tool, but not any more. Screw Apple. It sucks what it did.

Just been watching a rerun of top of…

Just been watching a rerun of top of the pops from 1978 on YouTube. Shazam failed to recognise 2 British punk songs (one of which was "jilted John, Gordon is a moron" the other was "Top of the pops" by the Rezillos.... Both of these songs are well known by those of us who grew up in the 1970's .And yet Shazam couldn't identify them. What a crock of shit.

I thought it was just me

I thought it was just me. It’s gone from getting 99% of tracks across a diverse array of music to not being able to get even stuff that’s big enough to be on TV. Crazy how bad it’s gotten. How could apple’s purchase herald such a decline. My guess is none of the original staff are still involved. Removing it now.

Apple buys shazam

Apple buys shazam, now it can't find a thing, can't even find its way through the dark, it's dead. Had the app for epochs, before Apple took it, and I could be sitting in a busy noisy restaurant and it would find the muz in the background but now, if it isn't accociated with Apple it ain't doing shite.

It's gone downhill fast !!!!!

I have to be honest 12 months ago it would find any snippet of music but as of July 2025 the last 10 songs I have tried to find it either says sorry we can't find it or gives me the wrong song!
Looking for an alternative as it's just a waste of storage space....
