Sent a complaint to Shearings customer service,who promised to respond within 2 days but nothing.Would have preferred to discuss it with them before doing a review but in the absence of a reply.... Hotel Norbreck extremely shabby.Reception staff not in the slightest bit interested in our concerns. Elderly aunts room had the windows screwed shut so she had no fresh air.They said maintenance would sort it but didn't.When I pressed,they said it wouldn't be fixed. They did offer to move her but being elderly she did not want to pack and unpack again so put up with it. Stair carpet coming away.Total trip hazard which is awful considering most clients are elderly. Room wasn't cleaned or bins emptied.Dirty,wet towel left in our sink that wasn't ours. On the plus side...waiting staff excellent/food nice/view amazing. Won't be returning though because of the total lack of concern from management regarding the window and lack of response from Shearings which is a shame as weve holidayed with them for many years. Update-offered £10 a head off of a future trip which we will not be using.Insult.

A lovely holiday. Hotel staff and driver were friendly and did everything they could to make us feel at home. Food was always good and nothing was too much trouble. Day trips were at wonderful places and had plenty of time there to explore.

Once we arrived at Scarborough, we were delighted with great scenery of the coast. Enjoyed all the visits to York and Whitby, and the extra day out to Flamborough Head where we were in awe of seeing a colony of grey seals, then we went to Bridlington and Beverly. Weather was kind to us. Hotel food was delicious, staff were very friendly and most helpful. Downside was a very long tiring day getting there and back, especially when using a mini bus to get to pickup and then two different coaches for the journey.

For Health and Safety reasons, we are unable to take any mobility scooters on tour, which exceed 20kg in weight. We apologise that, on this occasion, we were unable to add yours on to the booking.

Royal hotel was surprisingly good for its age with food ok.We we’re given sea view room which once again was fine for its age.Needs some system at hotel entrance for porterage as none was supplied and it was chaos as it was raining hard.They just need someone to get the pax inside with their cases and then form a orderly line to reception.Tour coach although fairly new was a let down with drivers microphone not working and had loud continuous rattles coming from everywhere.Also the ride was not very good compared to the feeder coach which also had a lot more leg room.Les the driver was excellent as was Chris the feeder coach driver.Tours out were ok apart from Bridlington.Shearing need to tell pax that coaches are not allowed into the centre which means a long walk from coach park which we had to use.We had two hours there but took over 35 min to walk to harbour get a drink and then did not leave much time for anything else as another 35 min to walk back.Some of the pax took a lot longer to do the walk as some had walkers etc so would not recommend this trip. Overall a very well organised trip with all pickups changeovers etc going smoothly.

However, we apologise for the issues you experienced with the tour coach, including the microphone and rattles. Your feedback about the challenges in Bridlington due to coach restrictions is duly noted.

The coach was cold and noisy I've come back with a cold. Hotel rooms disappointing. 1night of entertainment a singer next night entertainment didn't turn up the only good thing about Hotel was the food brilliant

I can't fault the holiday at all. The hotel and the service was excellent. I particularly like that we were able to serve ourselves at mealtimes, also multiple choices to choose from. Our driver Paul was very knowledgeable and a very good driver. Over the years I have been on many Shearings holidays alone or with friends and have never had any complaints. I would definitely recommend Shearings holidays.

Disappointed with bedroom. I paid an additional £109 executive upgrade and, despite reassurances this would be the case, this information was not passed on to the New Southland hotel after the trip was moved to this hotel (I checked with reception). The room desperately needed upgrading. No bath, only very Small shower with plastic shower curtain, cracked sink, windows gummed up with old paint, bed fraying, radiator not working (only small freestanding one supplied). The restaurant smelt like school dinners. Overall very disappointing. On plus side the coach driver, Robbin, was very good.

We loved Scarborough and Whitby, unfortunately the coach driver dropped us off too far away from York for us to enjoy our time there. The driver did not tell us anything about our destinations and told inappropriate jokes that were racist, sexist and crude. Our trip to Whitby was shortened so that the driver could take us to a garage in a remote village that, although it was pretty, was no interest to us at all. This was such a shame as we thought Whitby was lovely. The hotel was great as was the food and the hotel staff were fabulous.

I understand the significance of having an excellent coach crew during a coaching holiday, they play a vital role in connecting us with our guests on tour. Our expectations for them are always centred around their professionalism, politeness and informative nature. We do also spend a lot of time with the drivers who conduct our tours, to ensure they are given the resources to represent our company in the best way possible. Apart from delays with pickups everything went very smoothly. Robin our driver very friendly and entertaining. Very helpful throughout. Accommodation good, food good, services and friendliness of staff excellent. One criticism, lift very small {only one} waiting a lot. In all great break and would travel with Shearings again.

Could not fault this hotel in any way. My room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and the dining room staff went out of their way to help less mobile people. The food was very good four options each meal and buffet breakfast something for everyone. Our coach driver Geoff was excellent all throughout the trip and very considerate to his passengers. He went out of his way at Whitby to get us up to the abbey saving having to climb 199 steps!! Loved Scarborough Whitby and York all nice places to visit and the people are very friendly. Evening entertainment for two nights was good. All in all a lovely break.
Shearings/Ledger transportation let this holiday down. You are on coaches for more than 4 hours without a comfort break. Lack of information when system fails and they lose coaches, despite saying they have trackers. Poor customer services at transfers and lack of empathy from after sales team. Journey that should've taken 5 hours took over 11 without satisfying reasoning. I will not travel with them a second time.
We had an enjoyable trip. Few hiccups someones case went missing for 24 hours and another case on wrong coach but was sorted. Only thing was that as it was raining on the return day as the cases were transferred to feeder coach and left out for a while our things were wet inside our case and holdall on returning home. Our cases were substantial and not flimsy bug the rain had soaked through as we think left for to long out in the rain even though the driver had said they would be covered but obviously were not.
