Squalid hotel. Very dangerous entrance, stairs only to entrance. Non accessible. Dirty carpets , almost non existent housekeeping, York hotel not fit for most people.

Paid for sea view but got this instead, very smelly room and cigarette butts at window, hotel couldn’t change rooms as Shearings had not informed them that I paid £100 extra and all rooms now allocated, had a terrible time as spend a lot of time in room inhaling cigarettes and I have a respiratory condition, Sgeatings compensated me £50 for a totally ruined holiday, never again

Awful hotel, coach driver with very poor route choices and no sense of direction. Will never use Shearings again.

Inbound and outbound transfers were ridiculously long. About 10 hours for a 3 hour journey. Hotel was not to the standard we were expecting or booked. E.g. no water in the rooms for a lot of the time, lifts not working and hotel unsuitable for people with mobility problems. No compensation offered for inferior hotel forced on us at short notice.

Excellent holiday and thoroughly enjoyed all the trips arranged. Fascinating cities, some of which I have not visited since a child. Sorry I cannot complete the survey as it continues to show 'error' all the time.

Overall very disappointing. Although we knew that we were not going to stay in the Grand Atlantic Hotel, we did expect the quality of our accommodation to be of an equal standard. Little communication between driver and the holiday makers. Lack of structure to trips to Bath and Bristol. No consideration seemed to be given to the fact that the majority on the coach were elderly or less able to get around. For instance, on our trip to Bristol we were dropped off in Cumberland Road, it was a good 30minutes walk from the city centre. Overall this product bears no comparison to our excellent stay in Harrogate last month. For instance, on our trip to Bristol we were dropped off at a bus stop in Cumberland Road, a good 30 minute walk away from the city centre. Also the driver was at least half an hour late in picking us up. This product bears no comparison to the excellent quality of our stay in Harrogate last month.

May be with a different driver this holiday might have been worth the money. Let's start with the positives. Smiths hotel is a great place to stay. The staff are fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are clean and spacious. The food is superb, and plentiful. And there is good entertainment. Now the downside. The brochure says "spend the day at....." the reality is so much different. Bath, 3 hours. Wells, 1 hour 30. Cheddar, 1 hour 30. Bristol, 3 hours. According to the driver, shearings insist on specific routes. Example, to Bath the route must be the A368. This allows you to see great views and pretty villages. Reality, you see plenty of fields similar to those from a quicker route. And every village comes with a delay up to 15 minutes because the coach gets stuck as the lanes are too small for such a large vehicle. You will spend more time travelling than actually seeing Bath. This is the first time with shearings, we have travelled with Leger many many times and have always had a fantastic time. It's hard to imagine using Shearings again. The driver had no concept of time. Pick up from the hotel each day was 10am. That's the morning gone. And then we just sat there for 20 minutes whilst the driver programmed the route. A number of people asked for longer stays at each visit. I mean, what can you see in 90 minutes. But this fell on deaf ears. And on one occasion when someone complained about the lack of time he said "I don't care". Can you believe that!. For the 3 days where we went to places, we didn't get time to have a spot of lunch because it was a rush to see anything of the place you were visiting. After trying to convince the driver to let us stay longer we gave up and all met up at the pick up point at the allotted time, only for the coach to arrive 30 minutes later. 30 minutes we could have spent enjoying the visit rather than watching cars go by on the road. I could go on, but what's the point? It will change nothing for us. Good luck with the driver if you choose to do the Western-super-mare trip.

This was our first trip with Shearings Holidays therefore very much an opportunity for a baseline experience on which to make future decisions and not one to judge everything by. On the whole despite typical British weather, totally unpredictable, the trip was enjoyable. Bath proved to be an excellent choice, Weston-super-Mare surprising and Bristol regrettably a wash out for the most part. The visit to Wells and the Cheddar Gorge we declined simply because didn't fancy risking the rain, hence the surprising aspect of Weston. As it happens possibly a wise decision on the day. Fortunately our driver (Sean/Shaun) kept spirits up throughout with his good humour and excellent driving skills. Highlights definitely Bath with its wonderful Abby and other sights, Paul Kidby art exhibition in Weston and The Bristol Museum. Regrettably the weather denying many other aspects of Bristol we had hoped to see. The only negative to speak of being the hotel which was our home for four nights. Sadly the Atlantic is rather dated and showing signs of its age, although the art deco feel is definitely a feature. That said cannot fault the staff who made our stay very pleasant and in particular the reception area which facilitated our room change. While meal times were a bit regimented there is sufficient choice to meet most tastes. Breakfast is a huge plus. Having wetted our appetite with this trip we are now looking at other offerings by Shearings Holidays. After all one swallow doesn't make a Summer.

We had a lovely holiday, we won’t be booking with Shearings again. The hotel wanted up dating + decorating. The transfer to the resort + back home was disgusting. I am disabled and was left at the side of the road in Preston with the rest of the passengers to wait half an hour for the next coach to arrive. On the way home we got to lymm services the driver there wouldn’t let anyone on the coach till everyone was there. Again it was very pain full for me to stand for half an hour after my walker that has a seat on was put on the coach. The driver we had in western super mare was amazing very helpful, very friendly. The staff + the food at the hotel was superb, couldn’t fault it.

it was what it said on the tin ,a coach tour with no frills, very basic hotel, very dissorganised coach changeovers at the pick up points.

Preston to Western Supermare. Coach collection was delayed. Hotel: Grand Atlantic. Booked ground floor room but the hotel didn’t have any ground floor rooms. Requested twin room, but allocated to a family room, tv didn’t work, flat roof outside window had an array of empty alcohol bottles that appeared to have been there some time. Sink in bathroom was blocked and staff expected us to unblock ourselves. The layout of the communal areas made the majority of area inaccessible if you have mobility issues given the different levels. Food and entertainment ok. Would definitely not stay at this hotel again and would think twice before booking with Shearings coach holidays

Overall good value for what we paid, not luxury accommodation, but didn't expect that anyway. Staff, food, public areas good. Resort, like any other Victorian seaside town, trying, but tired. Trips out good, not too long to travel, & 'just' enough time to see the attractions. Coach travel is always in the hands of the traffic situation, but far less stressful than airports.

The hotel was quite poor. The rooms were sub standard, they needed repairs and overhauling. Generally the hotel needed modernising and redecorating. The hotel staff were very goid, polite and professional. It's only for them that I've rated it 3 stats on here.
This is my first coach holiday. Our coach driver Sian was a star. So helpful and always ready for a laugh. The staff were lovely. Always smiling The food was first class even though for me there was too much. The room. Well that was another thing. Yes mine was clean BUT. There was a crack in the window which was half taped up. Ceiling paper was peeling. Looks like there had been a leak. This hotel definitely needs refurbishing and sooner rather than later Not a hotel I would want to return to which is a shame as it was in a lively location. Shearings. You need to keep a check in your hotels. Let’s hope Reve next one is better

The hotel was clean and tidy, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was buffet style, dinner was 3 courses good size portions too. The excursions were brilliant, apart from Bristol. The driver parked us by the shopping centre which was disappointing, there is only so many shops you can walk around. Personally I would of stayed in Weston-super-Mare for the day.

The vegetarian menu was very good for the full four evening meals there was a good option. Not once was l given pasta which is usually the case. The whole eight meals were enjoyable and the coffee was good which is important to me.

Nice hotel. Good driver. A whole day in Wells and Cheddar would havebeen better, not enough time, both in one day. Bristol not good, need to leave out of itinary.
Grand Atlantic hotel. Good hotel and good food with ample portions. A plus for us was the ballroom which has dances in the week. The day trips were very enjoyable with opportunities to visit various attractions or just soak up the atmosphere. The add-on visit to Wells and Cheddar Gorge was absolutely worth doing. Driver Geoff was brilliant. We really enjoyed our holiday. The only downside is the very long journey time home with all the drop offs - but hey we didn’t have to drive.
