Everyone in the Frinton Branch were very polite, friendly and informative. Anything you needed to know they were always prepared to find out if they didn’t already know. Nothing was too much trouble. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Sheens of Frinton to anyone selling their property. You won’t find a better estate agency.

I sold my property through Sheens Clacton Branch in October 2025 from the very first meeting with James who valued the property through to John Bailey and Ben who were the best negotiators I have ever experienced.

Review for Sheens Estate Agents

We sold a property in Clacton-on-Sea through Sheens, and while the sale did eventually complete, the overall experience was unfortunately prolonged, stressful, and costly due to incorrect advice given during the process.

To be fair, one of the gentlemen working at Sheens was very helpful to our daughter, who was based in the UK at the time and was dealing with a significant administrative burden, including over 60 pages of forms. His support during that stage was appreciated.

However, the main issue arose with the primary agent handling our sale, Ella, who advised us that the property would sell more quickly if we renewed the lease to 99 years prior to the sale, rather than surrendering the lease and allowing the buyer to renew it after completion. This advice turned out to be incorrect and had serious consequences.

As a direct result of this misinformation, the sale was delayed by over four months. What should reasonably have been a sale completed within approximately five months instead took nine months to complete. This delay cost us thousands of pounds in additional legal fees, ground rent, service charges, council tax, electricity bills, and other ongoing costs associated with the flat.

Beyond the financial impact, the prolonged uncertainty and repeated delays had a significant psychological effect on my health and caused considerable stress for our entire family.

Our concern is not simply that a mistake was made, but that such major financial advice appears to have been given without sufficient knowledge or experience. We strongly feel that junior staff should be fully informed and properly trained before advising clients on matters that can have such serious financial and personal consequences.

While the property was eventually sold, we would advise others to seek clear, well-verified guidance and to question lease-related advice carefully before proceeding. Improved communication, accuracy, and accountability would have made a substantial difference to our experience.

The year started with a bad experience with another estate agent. But, from the moment I spoke to Ben at sheens, everything changed.
Ben came round and valued the house, very friendly and knowledgeable. From that moment, Sheens did everything they promised us. Phone calls were answered, viewers were regular, feedback was within a couple of days via email or call. Our house sold in three months. It was like our buyer was the perfect one to pass on our family home to. Once sold, we had lots of communication up until the day of exchange/completion. And when I went in to leave keys, it was so lovely. They were all so supportive especially with my emotions and being tearful. They were reassuring and supportive. So thanks to John for being such a nice calm young man and keeping us up to date with viewings and feedback. Thanks to Lee for finding us the perfect buyer. Thanks to James for chasing everything and keeping us up to date. A big thanks to Ella who supported me on viewings, listened to me and was such an emotional support. Now to the lovely young Scarlett. She was very nervous answering the phones at the beginning as she was new. But wow, she grew into a very confident young woman within weeks. Once her confidence grew, there was no telling that she was relatively new. She was amazing. Mustn't forget Gary, he has a superb team and he was also available for help and support.
