I had excellent communication with the 1st Move team in the UK, and everything arrived intact within a reasonable time frame. In the interim, I was sometimes confused about where my stuff actually was, as I found myself dealing with two separate companies in the US, and resubmitting paperwork which I'd already provided, as well as coughing up a small extra fee I hadn't anticipated. But all's well that ends well . . .

Excellent service from the initial quote, to pick up, help with customs forms etc. US delivery partner was also very professional and helpful.

Company has a misleading Marketing page to relocate to Mexico when they do not offer the service.

Everyone from Tom, Tessa & Mike have been excellent and very helpful. They picked up our furniture and packaged it and shipped it from England to California and everything was in perfect condition. Even the delivery guy from calif was very nice and helpful.

Good service and fast time for delivery

Having done the trans Atlantic move three times in the past three years, with almost the same content to nearly the same locations, I am able to compare like for like. My first move was with PSS in the UK, which was a groupage (cheaper when compared to a larger crate move) and was very good indeed. Much cheaper than the rest. My move back across from USA to UK the next time was with Planes which I was less impressed with. Groupage wasn't an option and I tended to pay for wasted space in two crates (the second crate was only about half full, bike not dissembled, etc ... when you pay this much you want every cubic centimetre to count!). 1st Move/ShipIt was my choice for the most recent trip. Their quote/estimate was much less than the actual cost, which was initially disappointing. But in the end, the move wasn't a great deal more expensive than PSS. The communication was good from the UK side of things. Everything arrived in tact and very, very quickly. There is a sting in the tail upon delivery, but having read other reviews I was prepared for it. The idea is that you retain your own crew to accept the shipment at your address and they unpack and put it into place. Having done this a few times, I was growing a bit resentful at the hidden or extra costs so I had the delivery man just leave the pallets (2) and crate on the drive and I spent a few hours unpacking and moving the things into the house with myself and my spouse, saving myself some money. If you have large furniture or don't want the toil of doing it yourself, there is extra expense at the end. All in all, everything was delivered in quick time, the price was competitive, the communication was very good and the paperwork along with way (which can be very stressful with such moves) was made very easy. Can't say fairer than that.

We had the best experience and the packing was amazing. Couldn’t be more grateful, we had forgotten some sentimental items during packing and they came back to collect them!!! We were already out of the country before they could come back so they helped arrange everything with a neighbor of ours to collect everything! It all arrived From London, England to Costa Mesa, California perfectly intact! Not a single item broke not even a coffee cup or glassware couldn’t believe how amazing the service was and getting it door-to-door really was amazing especially since we had a 10 month old at the time. Not to mention all of the answering of questions and the price was also extremely reasonable an end to end amazing experience!!! Couldn’t recommend them more!

We put off moving this furniture internationally for years thinking that it would be difficult but 1st Move International proved us wrong. It was so easy and they kept us informed every step of the way!

I cannot recommend 1st Move International enough. The communication all the way through the process was impeccable, before and during shipping.

I have a large vinyl collection (most from the 1950’s and 1960’s) which would not be easily replaceable, so I needed a removal company I could trust to handle my belongs for my move from the UK to the US. 1st Move International made me feel super comfortable from day 1 and made the process so simple.

On collection day the removal guys were super punctual and proactive. All of my belongings were treated and packed with the upmost care. I cannot remember their names, but thank you for being so nice and professional!

My goods departed the UK on time and were delivered yesterday to my new US address with only a slight delay of 8 days from the original quote. All of my goods arrived in perfect condition!

We've used 1st Move twice now to ship our belongs from the UK to the US, and both times they've been friendly, fast, helpful, and KIND. International moves are hard, and everything can come at you all at once, so their kindness and willingness to really help talk us through the process was so appreciated. The second time the move was even smoother, not only because we better understood the process (and didn't also have to deal with buying a home overseas, visas, and so forth) but also because 1st Move used a different US agent who was so much more communicative and helpful than the first go around.

I was moving all my furniture and belongings from the UK to Singapore while being 33 weeks pregnant. Because of this, it was important for me to find a reliable service, which could deliver as fast as possible. 1st Move were more expensive than others, but offered a delivery in 26 days, which was shorter than others. Before placing the order I called them multiple times to make sure that 26 Calendar days was meant rather than Business days. I also expressly discussed several times that my furniture will be delivered by end of year 2024 if it s collected on or before 18 November 2024 - 1st Move reassured me of that several times. This was the condition upon which I made the decision in favour of 1st Move. Nevertheless, today is 31 January 2025, my baby has already arrived but we are still waiting for the furniture. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Apart from that, there were several disappointing things in the process:
- well in advance did I inform representatives of 1st Move of the fact that in front of my building was a double red line which restricted parking. Nevertheless, the guys who arrived to collect the furniture had no idea about that on the day and spent two hours discussing what to do and whether they could collect it at all or not (quite a stressful moment for me as you can imagine)
- the collection guys had nothing, absolutely nothing to help them cope with the collection of furniture, no equipment whatsoever: they didn’t have any straps to help them carry heavy things, no platform on wheels, nothing, except from their bodies and hands. Really surprising considering the price of the service and the level of service that was expected and claimed to be provided.
- so far 1st Move took absolutely no responsibility for the delays in delivery. They didn’t care about personal circumstances, didn’t care about multiple delays (currently amounting to over a month), didn’t provide explanations, proper apologies or discounts. Surprisingly, the only emails I receive are along the lines of “the new expected arrival date is “X”” and always a new date 🤷🏼‍♀️ obviously they will claim that nothing of that was their fault (I wonder who then is giving deceiving promises, who is choosing providers etc), in any case all customers should bear this in mind when placing an order with them, which I would not recommend doing).

From packing up in UK, to delivery in USA, the whole experience was excellent. I had communication and great guidelines on how to do each step. Everything arrived timely and nothing was broken or missing.
