Zero Interest In Customer Safety.

Shopify ignores Trustpilot, and they already have an atrocious record here, so this review serves little purpose other than a semblance of catharsis. Such is our society that consumers are faced with little defence against retailers so often.

A communication I sent to Shopify regarding one of their sellers is copied below. The 1 star review for Shopify is not because of the seller. It is because Shopify claim that they will help, and want to know about any issues whilst using their platform, however despite there clearly being a problem and the customer being unable to have any control over their order, Shopify refused to entertain any involvement because more than a month must pass by first before they will even listen.

Unacceptable.

I have now learned two lessons. One is never to use the original dishonest seller, again. The second is that Shopify is not a platform that offers any protection for a consumer at all, and that any purchases made through sellers using Shopify should always be treated with caution and suspicion.

My email to Shopify:
"The merchant claimed the item was in stock when I ordered it.

They sent me a tracking number a few hours later and said that my order was "on the way".

Today I received a generic email from an automatic mailing list saying that my order is delayed indefinitely as they have no stock of the item on my order.

This automated email did not carry any details specific to me: not my order number, not my address, not the date of my order or even the item from my order.

This merchant is claiming to have items to sell that they do not have.

They claim that items are sent with couriers but they are not. The tracking number that I was given is invalid and does not bring up any tracking details.

The automated email gave no details of anyone that Zi could speak to at the seller to find out more information.

I believe that I have been deceived and have been a victim of a dishonest seller who has fraudulently obtained money from me by promising something that they don't have and then providing information they know to be false.

There is no way to cancel my order direct with the seller, despite me trying. Are you able to help, please?"

Shopify? I'd rather gargle broken glass!

FFS. I take full responsibility for NOT checking Trustpilot first before creating my Shopify Store.
Holy shite. I migrated all my products and services over to Shopify. I created a new URL to point to this scam website store and purchased a new email address to complement the URL for clean customer service and trustworthy branding.
3 days later, just as I am about to link my Calendar to my store to allow customers to book a call to talk with me regarding my high-profile services, Shopify shuts me out of my store. It's still visible through my URL, but no email address or password will let me back in. And when there's a sniff of me getting access, the webpage crashes and the broken link image appears. This is clearly a scam. Now that they have my credit card details, no doubt their ongoing charges will continue, and I can't delete my personal details.
ARE THERE NO MORE RELIABLE AND HONEST ORGANISATIONS LEFT?

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH SHOPIFY

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH SHOPIFY. Shopify makes it nearly impossible to delete your account. The site told me I would have to go through this procedure where I would receive an email and click a button to confirm deletion. I must have done that a dozen times and still I couldn’t delete it. They’re still trying to bill me every single day.

Their shop app is the worst

Their shop app is the worst. Forcing me to download their stupid app just to find out where my order is. Why can't we just get a link from the vendor like we used to? I've tried 3 times to get "authenticated" by the app but I never get the code emailed to me. The store I bought from should tell me where my order is. The people who answer their phones can't give me tracking data and said to get the app. The useless Shopify app has no way to contact them when I don't get the code. No idea where my order is. Great job, Shopify.

PAYMENTS ACCOUNT FULLY BLOCKED

@ShopifySupport @Shopify My Shopify Payments account has been fully blocked — iDEAL, credit card, Bancontact AND payouts on hold. All my cashflow is frozen. Appeals have been submitted. I am a legitimate fashion store in the Netherlands and need urgent review from your Merchant Trust Team. Please DM me.

No help if you get scammed

If you get scammed by a seller, Shopify offers no assistance. I received a damaged item. I attempted to contact the seller 5 times over 5 weeks and no response. Shopify's complaint process? They tell you to contact the seller. I will never make a purchase via Shopify ever again.

I took a $1 (3 mon) trial and…

I took a $1 (3 mon) trial and everything seemed to start well. After I had been selling on there for 9 days I was receiving any payout(s) I originally chose weekly payouts scheduled for Mondays. When Monday 5/25/26 came along I was told that payouts would delayed 1 day due to the Memorial Holiday(2026). So on May 26, 2026 still no pay out. I contacted Shopify and was told something went wrong with the connect process to my bank account and to do it again. When I did it the second time there was a security issue and another bank account was substituted in place of mine. So when I checked the status of my payout it was for a amount other than what the transfer was supposed to be. After more than 60 mins trying to get to a human I finally got to someone on the Chat.I was assured that they would help me correct the issue. During this time I was alerted from my bank that my password and 2 factor authentificaton had/was being changed. I immediately contact my bank to verify it was not me.After being on the chat for 4 1/2 hrs I explained the urgency of the issue multiple time. I was then told I had to wait another 24 hrs for them to investigate mean while my first payout went to a unknown account and there was another payout made for another amount. So as it stands I've been selling on Shopify for 9 days with no payment(s) and no hope for my missing payouts just wait for their investigation to complete and to hope that there might be some of my more than 2K in sales will left. At this point Shopify at 4:38 am on 5/28/26 has offered no solution other than a investigation. When I ask the question what do I do about any current/future orders I was to to ship them and wait/hope that I get paid. This kind of customer support would be ok if maybe a text box or picture wasn't the best but this is my hard earned money and all they can tell me is to wait 24 hrs for their investigation. I hope anyone who reads this if they choose Shopify payments makes a better decision than I did. I was advised (by Shopify) that if I used my current credit card provider or PayPal that it would cost me a additional 1-2 percent. At this point I would be dollars ahead using a secure payment system rather than Shopify Payments over trying to save 1 or 2 percent.

Shopify itself is very easy to use and…

Shopify itself is very easy to use and great for getting started. But sooner or later, you will run into some serious limitations. For example, I used their integrated AI to try to change the layout of one of the pages on my e-commerce store because I did not like how it looked. The AI was unable to solve the issue, and later it completely misled me, which caused my entire webshop to disappear from Google search results. I used to rank number one on Google, and now I have to rebuild everything from scratch. A complete disaster.

Shopify is a complete nightmare

Shopify is a complete nightmare to small business. After being with them 6 years they terminated my shopify balance account and my shop without notice causing a massive decrease in revenue, cancelled orders and a complete disruption of business. They have no live support, they are an awful business to work with.

IMPORTANT

IMPORTANT: I am writing this review because Shopify's official report tools are broken and actively protect scammers. The merchant "Heyshape" scammed me, and then DELETED my order from the system. Because of this, Shopify's forms throw an "Order not found" error, completely blocking me from reporting the fraud. Shopify has built a system where scammers can easily silence their victims.

Here are the details of the scam Shopify is hosting: I placed an order on April 7 (Order ID: #1973779), the tracking number YT2609800702731468 was sent to me, but the package never departed. After 8 email exchanges the merchant promised a full refund more than 30 days ago due to non-delivery. Instead of issuing the refund, they completely deleted/cancelled my order from the system to block me from using the standard Shopify report tools (which now return an "Order not found" error).
1, The package was not sent out
2, They promised a refund and never refunded
3, They cancelled my order to block me from reporting the store
4, The last email from "Eliza from Heyshape" was another empty promise to look into the matter
This is a deliberate, fraudulent practice to prevent victims from reporting issues.

Shopify blocked my store and froze my ability to pay customers and suppliers

I am writing this review because I am extremely disappointed and concerned with how Shopify handled my case.

I lost access to my old two-factor authentication app, but I still had access to my account and immediately contacted Shopify Support to recover my access properly.

After multiple chats, identity verification, document submission, selfie/liveness checks, and many emails exchanged with Shopify Account Security, I was informed that my payouts were temporarily placed on hold for security reasons while my 2FA recovery process was being handled.

At the same time, my Shopify Balance account was configured to automatically transfer funds to an old bank account that I no longer had access to. I urgently informed Shopify about this and requested that transfers be blocked until I regained full access to my account.

I followed every instruction given by Shopify Support:

* completed the recovery process;
* submitted ID verification;
* updated banking information;
* reconfigured my security settings.

However, despite all of this, Shopify stopped responding to my emails for days.

Now I have received an email saying that my store will be permanently closed on May 27, 2026, due to alleged unauthorized products, while I still cannot properly access my payouts to pay suppliers and fulfill customer orders.

This situation has caused severe financial and operational damage to my business.

I understand that platforms need security and compliance processes, but the lack of communication, delayed responses, and inability to access my own funds while trying to cooperate with support has been extremely frustrating.

I hope Shopify’s Trust & Safety or management team reviews this case urgently before irreversible damage is done to my business and customers.
