Installed Wrong Door, Refused to Give Key or All The Screens: paid in full upfront (do not do that!)
We ordered a number of windows and doors through Louis Plourde at the Westlake Village, CA location in Nov 2022 and PAID IN FULL UPFRONT (about 50k). Sierra Pacific did not install one set of French Doors that we ordered with the handle to match the other doors and instead installed an extra tall large sliding door that was not what we wanted with a nail-breaking handle type I specifically said I did not want. They never delivered any of the screens despite numerous requests, and refused to hand over the keys to the illegally installed door that damaged our property since it required a larger frame, so we can't just replace it with what we wanted anymore.
We paid several locksmiths to change the lock, but none could due to the complicated inner door system without either fully uninstalling it and taking the door apart (a major feat that risks damaging the door and our wall), or by using a copy of the current key - which we don't have.
Louis completely ignored numerous calls and emails asking why his crew installed a door not in our order and refused requests for the keys to this door and our screens. In 2024 Sierra Pacific Legal Dept refused to help us, saying to work it out with Louis and the contractor. We spent $15k on attorney fees but our scamming contractor refused to even reply. I emailed Louis the contract we signed (that included the French Doors and screens) and emails, invoices and check copies showing we paid in full upfront. He still has not replied.
It is now April 2026 and we still do not have the keys or screens.
I believe this amounts to fraud, property damage, conversion and they have cause us severe pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of our house and life. I am filing complaints with the local D.A., the State Attorney General, U.S. Marls, BBB, and every local reporter.
Sierra Pacific and Louis will be liable for any theft from our house as they are the only ones with the keys to this door. I am sick of living in fear of what thugs might break into our house, especially when I sleep their alone. Not having access to that door posed a serious security risk in a recent emergency at our house.
Do not make such an expensive purchase from decentralized company that can get away with scamming customers in collusion with crooked contractors without any accountability. I tried appealing to Sierra Pacific legal team but they said the contract was with Louis and our contractor, and we needed to solve it with them. I filed a police report but the police said they can't help as it is a "contract matter" and we would need to file a civil suit and should talk to the D.A. to see if they can press charges.
We will soon replace our upstairs windows and will redo some of the ones they screwed up and we will never order from this company again. Many of the seals peeled off within two years, we've had trouble with some of the door latches, and when they installed they left huge ugly scratch marks in the nice dark brown paint finish that show the silver beneath that they never touched up and looks horrible.
I consulted with numerous new contractors and they were in disbelief at the poor window installation job that left us unable to install shades because the jambs are so uneven and wonky. Apparently they mismeasured too small and then tried to fix it by adding all sorts of sloppy looking pieces of wood that inner window treatments can't affix to because it is not flat enough. I brought this up over numerous months and our contractor said that's how Sierra Pacific does all their windows, he tried to tell me this was normal. (A lie - I've seen other photos and I've never seen window cases like this and every other contractor agreed they made major mistakes and need to be redone.)
