Silverbirch cared for my aunt over the last few years. At first once a day for 30 minutes until recently when my aunt needed 24 hr care. Catherine and all the carers were always happy to help. All very knowledgeable. Each time the care changed that my aunt needed Catherine would discuss and provide suggestions. Working hard to add the extra hours we needed as quickly as possible. In the last few months of my aunts life it was difficult as she was bed ridden but all the carers made her as comfortable as possible. Always treating my aunt with respect and kindness. My aunt was able to stay at home and when she did pass away Catherine was there to organise and make things as easy as possible for myself and my family. We are very grateful to them and would highly recommend them.

Catherine impressed us from the start with her knowledge of dementia, her willingness to advise and support us in every way possible in the care of our dad(in his early nineties, with Alzheimer's), adjusting things as necessary as time went by and especially in Dad's last days. She really was available whenever we needed to talk to her and understood how we felt, responding appropriately with all the resources she could muster.

I would highly recommend SilverBirch Healthcare as excellent because:

I first met Catherine of Silver Birch Care by chance in the lift at the retirement complex where I live. I was immediately impressed with her kind caring approach to supporting for the people in her care.

Later we asked Catherine for help because mum had had a small fall and had suffered a fractured hip and was in hospital.

Catherine came to meet Mum and assess her needs in hospital and Catherine used her knowledge, skill and experience so that we could make the transition from hospital to home with all the support in place ready for Mum to come home.

Catherine was there when Mum arrived home. She also helped Mum to return to hospital a day later because Mum was in pain. (The hospital had refused to discharge Mum with a hospital bed and air mattress despite our pleading with them). Catherine helped persuade the hospital to provide a hospital bed and air mattress to allow Mum to come home again.

From the very outset, Catherine made it clear she would always be at the end of the phone should we find any aspect of Mum’s care overwhelming or just feel the need for support.

Mum came home and Catherine and her care team always communicated and consulted with mum first about her needs and wishes. The small, regular care team were always cheerful, knowledgeable, skilled and showed incredible empathy. Their excellent punctuality meant no unnecessary stress for Mum or the family and Mum used to look forward to carers arriving. She enjoyed cheerful conversation with them and also felt comfortable discussing any issues with them that she didnt want to trouble and worry the family with. The care was always coordinated because carers used the Mozibo app to leave notes about Mum’s care each visit so that management and following care team members always knew the feedback, to ensure the next visit went smoothly.

As the time came, Catherine coordinated our contact with Mum’s NHS palli­ative care team to ensure Mum was pain free. The care provided was as flexible as necessary to fully support Mum and as her health deteriorated, the care team stayed overnight to ensure Mum was expertly supported and the family could rest, safe in the knowledge that mum was in good hands.

Fortunately, and as arranged,, Catherine and the care team were with us in Mum’s final hours, supporting the family as well as Mum. They knew the process and they also knew the next steps, and advised when it was time to call the NHS nurses, the undertakers and the doctors. Afterwards too, Catherine ensured that the care team continued their support in the days and weeks that followed, and let us know she was always available at the end of the phone.

I am happy to confirm that SilverBirch Healthcare Ltd provided an excellent care package for my 90 year old Mum, whose needs changed over time. Their management & carer staff displayed true professionalism at all times and went about their work in a very caring manner, in spite of having to deal with a sometimes difficult independent minded lady.
I have no hesitation in recommending them to future customers and if needed would be very happy to engage them again at some time in the future.
