Catalogue of non answered emails and phone calls. It has taken.months to get a Lasting Power of Attorney set up. Now dealing with a terminal illness and this still isn't in place despite all fees being paid. Apologies at this stage do not make up for sheer incompetence and cade has been taken to the Legal Ombudsman. Draft Wills were littered with errors. Please go anywhere but here.
No responses and no help yet
My solicitor went bust and I got a letter to say that Simpsoms now had my will. They offered me a home visit and quoted an eyewatering amount to adjust one name on the will. The woman said she would be in touch. Nothing happened. I thin realise I could get a free will adjustment from a charity as I was donating to them in my will. Then started the very long process of retrieving my will. 3 month later they tell me it will be amother two weeks. Most of the 3 months was calls not returned .
Appalling sent a legal letter chasing…
Appalling sent a legal letter chasing payment when I hadn't even received a draft document to review
Invalid Wills
In the 3 draft Wills we were sent there was upwards of 30 mistakes that we noticed with spelling and grammar.
There was no meeting room available at our Will signing meeting. So we were forced to sit in the middle of a coffee shop full of customers in the public area of the shared office space.
Ultimately the worst part of the service was noticing that a second witness signature had appeared when we reviewed the copies of our Wills at home after the singing meeting. However as there was no second witness present at the signing and this invalidated our Wills completely.
AVOID! Miselling and poor service is rife
They gained entry to my Mother’s home after she mistook them for another firm that had dealt with her Will years ago. Their advisor, Jack Doyle, spent two hours with her and managed to upsell her TWO LPAs for £1,000, leaving with a £250 deposit, which he took on the spot of course.
No paperwork was provided, no cost breakdown, and no mention of her 14-day legal cooling-off period under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Jack justified the excessive price by claiming it was due to “court time,” without explaining that all LPAs go through the court and can be registered independently for £82. My Mother has to decide whether to proceed or not, with a random man sitting in her house, with no paperwork and no clear understanding of what this even was.
Once we had time to review, it was clear the cost was unreasonable, and we requested a refund. The firm refused to return the full deposit, keeping 25% (over £100) despite no work being carried out. Jack avoided dealing with the issue as standard and went on annual leave, leaving it to a manager, Chloe. Her handling of the matter was rude and dismissive, with the approach of simply repeating the most basic facts, which made no sense (e.g. "we offer home visits"...?)
This behaviour is neither professional nor transparent. And note their standard response is always that “these comments do not reflect the full circumstances of this matter” - the same line repeated rather than addressing genuine complaints about their service.
This amount of negative reviews is so disheartening to find after you've already come into contact with a firm like this.
We will be escalating this to the Legal Ombudsman, an annoyingly lengthy process simply to get £250 back...how desperate are they!
I would strongly advise others to simply avoid this firm and any of its subsidiaries; just look at the reviews.

My mother used this company for her LFA and will. She thought that she was dealing with a local firm, not one that's part of Right Legal Group. It has taken seven weeks for them to simply provide the original will. Awful experience.
Poor Communication, I felt I was begging them!
I would not reccomend them at all. They contacted me for a will review out of the blue. I had the review over teams. I was told the price being over £600 for will that did have some complications. I was told there was a payment plan available and asked for more details. I emailed several times and always got a sorry, waiting for my manager. It felt like i was begging tem to take on my work! Eventually i was informed i needed to fill a direct debit form to start paying. I had not even had any details about the payment plan. I gave in and eventually someone else got in touch and offered me a 20% discount £522 paying over 10 months. I decided due to lack of trust to not continue with this company.
Awful company
Awful company, came to see us in March, made complaints from end of May. Eventually got money back 2 weeks ago as they agreed hadn’t done anything at all.

For transparency, I have already reviewed Simpsons as a 1 star due to how they handled my mum's will and LPA.
Since then, I have been trying to get my will back off them - it was taken over from another solicitor.
Months in to the process, I am still waiting and similar to other peoples' experience on here, I keep having to jump through further hoops - but only when I contact them about where the will is. There is never any communication from them. This has got to the point that I wonder whether they have lost my will, although they have assured me they have not.
In addition to this, I received an email from someone in their document department with whom I had been dealing which was clearly meant for another recipient. The email had details of the other recipient's name, address and request in a clear breach of GDPR.
Ali Al-Obaidy did a great job.
Ali Al-Obaidy did a great job advising us through the will writing process. Polite, friendly, knowledgeable and a wonderful smile. Would recommend Ali and Simpsons highly. Alan and Valerie
Completely incompetent company
Completely incompetent company, would never use these again.
They didn't turn up for the appointment! AVOID
After having an appointment booked, after 15 mins late we called the office, no reply ! Tried again after a few mins, finally answered its in the diary but they don't know why they didn't come! We were both bombarded with txt messages reminding of the appointment day after day! Our Will had been passed to them.
We will now find a competent solicitor as wouldn't trust this shower with something so important! AVOID!
It's become apparent on fb that we are not the only ones!
A fraught and stressful experience…
A fraught and stressful experience getting my documents ( my will and power of attorney) returned after they took over my original solicitors.
This experience included a 50 minute plus wait for someone to answer a call; calls abruptly aborted from their end and no call back; a refusal to return my documents unless I went through various hoops and hurdles.
My documents, after some 2 months of intense interaction with them by phone, a face to face meeting and numerous emails, were finally returned.
These papers in an envelope marked “private and confidential ‘‘ were found on the ground near my postbox by a relative.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Absolutely shocking law firm. it's taken 2 years and still counting to get an LPA application sorted for my parents. DO NOT use this firm for any important legal family matters. their solicitors constantly leave the practice leaving you in limbo. there is no communication from any solicitors and they never tell you what is missing from paperwork but surprise surprise they will happily quote you thousands for the privilege of not sending your documents off. if anyone has received bad service then i urge you to complain to their head office complaints at right legal group dot com i went down that route and managed to get compensation
Avoid using
Avoid using. Should be reported to law society for how they have dealt with my mothers estate.
Terrible company
Terrible company, handling my mothers estate 3 years after her death, property sold and now occupied and they still have not released funds. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, never answer their emails use delay tactics and quite frankly incorrect information, saying estate was subject to inheritance tax when under £350000 threshold, this was checked with the tax office. AVOID AVOID AVOID
DO NOT GO ANYWHERE NEAR THIS COMPANY!
Appalling, appalling and more appalling. Avoid like the plague. Never answer phones, I am currently "number 1" in the queue for the last half hour. This is the third time I have tried to speak to a member of staff. Every time I am told I am number 1, I hang on for over 40 minutes before giving up. I have emailed, sent letters, and my elderly parents are still waiting for their original wills and PoA's to be sent their now solicitor. This has been going on now for over 3 months! Unbelievable.
Avoid this company
I have been dealing with this company since January 2024 regarding my will and lasting power of attorney documents. The 'service' I have encountered as been appalling throughout, with the highlight being the time they managed to send a copy of my will to a third party. I thought everything was finally completed last July but I received a letter yesterday informing me that I had to sign more documents and send them a cheque (in 2025?!) for £164 in order for them to register the power of attorney documents. I've already paid £800 + VAT for this to be done. I wish I had never dealt with this organisation and had used a local solicitor instead. AVOID!!
Great experience at the Westbury on Trym branch
Had a great experience with Roisin at the Westbury on Trym branch to write our wills. She was polite and explained everything to us clearly and thoroughly (and we were always offered tea!). A smooth process, and she was always available via email/phone if I had any questions. Would highly recommend.
