MICROSOFT ADVERTISE SEAMLESS... NO WAY

MICROSOFT ADVERTISES "SEAMLESS" its transfer from Skype to Teams.
It's a long and frustrated experience not worth the $$ that I am loosing. Microsoft can add my dollars to their $181.715 Gross Profit in 2024 over 2023. A 14.28% increase.

Microsoft Skypr Rip off

Another example of Microsoft acquiring a good service and then destroying it. And now, after destroying Skype and shutting it down, Microsoft will keep the subscriber unused credit (ie. cash money) on account, hiding behind leagalese... RIPPOFFF!!!!!!

Closing it down and refusing to refund…

Closing it down and refusing to refund credit balance. I bought credit IN GOOD FAITH. What they are doing is theft, plain and simple. If they'd gone bankrupt that would be one thing, but just to shut a service down and keep the money you've paid is theft.

Extremely Disappointed!

Skype was probably the first and best messaging service ever created. It was bought by Microsoft in 2011 for the price of 8.5 billion, and since then it has been destroyed by them and now completely discarded. Even in the last two months, people have complained (below) they have not honored subscription services, unlike before. I’ve been comparing other messaging services, and none of them offer instant texting, free videos calls, and paid phone services together. The current paid phone services for international calls want to access your phone contacts, whereas on Skype you could set up your own contacts not have 1000 numbers from your phone connected to their apps. Also, as the company has been around for 22 years, a lot of older people (including my relatives) are used to using Skype, and cannot transfer to Microsoft Teams, or even log into it, as everything has to be related to Microsoft. Teams also doesn’t allow for international paid calls, so I cannot transfer my phone book from Skype. It’s going to be difficult to replace, if at all, and I have no intention of using Teams which is more of a corporate money making venture. Skype has been completely destroyed, and an enormous amount of money wasted to the dismay of paying and loyal customers who relied heavily on this service for keeping in touch with long term contacts. Progress traded pragmatic excellence for inconvenience and loss!

Skype just lost another customer

I am really disappointed with Microsoft's decision to remove the option to purchase Skype credit on a pay-as-you-go basis. As someone who isn't a regular user, this change forces me into a subscription model that doesn't suit my needs at all. For occasional users like myself, having the flexibility to buy credit as needed was extremely convenient. This shift is frustrating, as it essentially pressures users into a subscription, even when it's not necessary or wanted. It's a poor decision that disregards those who prefer a more flexible, cost-effective approach to using Skype. I'll never subscribe, you just lost a paying client on this extremely poor business decision.

They need to do something with SPAM

They need to do something with SPAM. They allow creating groups which can add users without permission. I have all possible OFFs in my privacy settings, and still get unwanted messages. Can't exit groups, can't block it. Only delete SKYPE can help. Can't imagine that so huge company does it. I am going to contact the EU regulatory regarding this.

Forcing customers to subscribe, at a high cost!

Forcing customers to subscribe isn't an intelligent strategic choice!!!
I always used Skype where i had the choice to credit my account or subscribe; this month, not only did they decided to block account crediting option, or made it obligatory to subscribe, because i was even required to subscribe to a higher cost subscription (double the cost) since they cancelled the old option.

if they wanted extra bucks, they should have thought of a more intelligent approach!!! i totally refuse their means, i deleted their account and i am buying my loved ones a new smart phone to communicate with them daily, for free!!!

Now Skype are forcing you to subscribe

Tried to add £5 credit to my Skype account today but was directed to a new subscription page where the charge is £6 a month. After investigating, I discovered that the top-up option has disappeared and been replaced by a subscription service. I only use Skype occasionally so I definitely don't want to be tied down to a monthly subscription. The other thing that has disappeared is the option to purchase your own Skype number. So what's left? Nothing as far as I'm concerned. Will be searching out alternatives.

Unauthorised subscription payment using my Skype account, unable to contact Skype support or Microsoft Support about it. Posted a question about this in Microsoft Community and was finally able to Live Chat with Skype Support by a User there thankfully. But it should have been easier to do that. But issue resolved and money refunded.

Caution!!! Avoid Skype

Caution: Please consider other options before using Skype! For thoose interested here is why....
Skype is a long standing proprietary telecommunications application. However, despite this it has not kept pace with the modern requirements of such an app. and there are far better apps. out there for personal and business use (and previously I have use it for both).
I strongly advise anyone who is considering using Skype to do so with caution. There are serious problems with this app. and its old, archaic unreliable working functionality. There is zero customer service too and its all pretty poor quality.
Why? well skype has had technical issues for months now. If you send a message it is highly likely the other person may, if extremely lucky, get a notification on their phone and part of the text displayed too but on opening the app no message appears and is then lost, it cannot be retrieved. Even though it appears as sent on the senders phone the recipient will not be able to see it and only aware via a possible notification.
The same data loss is applicable if you send, say a link, even a common link (e.g youtube etc.) and it is very relevant that photos just disappear too i.e. you send a personal message and a personal picture, lets say for example, your new puppy playing, the message will show as sent on your laptop or device but the other person will either get a notification or it will be lost. On opening the notification there will be no data there and its lost.
As a sender if you have used a mobile device and can see the data is sent it is very common that you will log into your Skype account on say, a laptop or computer, and your sent message will not be there!!!
My question would be "what the hell are Skype doing with the data manageent"?
There are also many connectivity issues too just getting calls to connect.
The phone will ring and you cannot answer or you answer and it drops.
Skype will probably blame the internet connection but that is rubbish and we have tried it whilst sitting in the same room ( UK based so internet is good and strong fast signal).
If you do manage to overcome the issues and actually make the call then the call quality is acceptable for about 80% of calls that actually connect.
Using the "report a problem" function is useless. No fix, No communication on a fix. Problems exist with no resolution or timeline.
Older features that were of benefit like printing or downloading chat History are all gone....they will tell you that you can do it but its clunky and again frustrating and does not work at all effectively.
Using Skype is very frustrating. The people at Skype are lazy uncooperative and their approach is very old fashioned.
Writing a review is time consuming but if it saves you time and helps someone avoid Skype and all of its frustrating, unreliable features and choose a better app then its worth it !!

SHADY! Fraud Charging $70 per mo!

Absolutely shady company. Every month someone from their company is charging my credit card $70. When I phone, they say no such charge can be found, and I have to cancel my card each time. Someone is making money scamming people. Users need to get together and file a lawsuit because I know I'm not the only one.

Subscription model is a joke

The move to subscription model only is a joke, before you could add funds, spend them then add more.. as that has been removed, I bought the top world subscription, only it isn't, taking a deeper look I'd need at least one maybe more packages to cover my usage..the Upshot is a 200%+ minimum increase in spend per annum to keep the same service (if i'm lucky).... No Thanks.. Letting that expire and sourcing a new provider.. Really seriously disappointing...not that they'll care..
