Myself and a friend arrived early to an event in Bristol this week. Unfortunately the toilets at the event were broken or blocked which wasn't a great start. We oredered a drink and started to scope out the attendees as it was our first time speed dating so we were a bit nervous. We were concerned at the lack of people arriving and were then told by bar staff there were 7 women and 10 men! Unfortunately none of the men we saw coming in interested us and we were filled with a feeling of dread. We decided to leave and not go through with the event. I emailed slow dating with a complaint asking for a refund, surprise surprise they have refused and offered a voucher instead! Why wasn't the event cancelled and refunded with those uneven, low numbers?! I would not want to repeat that experience and am gutted we travelled a 40 mile round trip for nothing. What a waste of money!

I would not recommend it to anyone.
This is my first and last time for online slow dating. I signed up for online dating for Southampton and I got connected to Oxford, Cambridgeshire and Warwickshire areas. It is so ridiculous. I rather prefer when lockdown finishes to meet girl personally in a venue.

Avoid - they do not have enough clientele to be able to facilitate the events they advertise and will not refund.
They cancel events with limited warning and I quote
"Unfortunately your Speed Dating event next week on Wednesday 30th December has been postponed, due to not enough ladies booked on." this being issued two days in advance.
If you are unable to attend the future event they will not issue a refund.
EDIT - I would add please read the other reviews as this seems to be consistent feedback!

Great customer service!
I booked an event for the beginning of Jan; I was so excited! Unfortunately they didn't get enough people to let the event run and rebooked me on another. I wasn't able to attend the rebooked one and instead asked for a refund to rebook when I'm ready. The processed it straight away. I look forward to attend one of their events.

Is this a scam?! I tried to book online and it wouldn't let me sign up! I emailed them about the issue and two days later still no reply. Then I tried to phone their contact number twice two days later and just got a recorded message which was no help at all. Extremely disappointed as I really thought this would be a good idea. Don't waste your time! I'm glad i didn't waste money on this!!

I had two live events booked originally which I was really looking forward to, but COVID in all its excellence ruined that for me! Slowdating transferred me onto two online events and gave me free vouchers to rebook the real ones another time, I requested a refund for one event and left the other. The automatic email said that issues will be dealt with ten days before an event, which after I waited for I was emailed ten days before and got my refund no problems in the end. I also attended the online event last week and not only was it a great way to spend an otherwise boring evening, I actually got quite a few matches which was brilliant! I wanted to leave this review as I had a great time at the online speed dating! I did have to wait for them to get back to me about the refund but they did exactly what they said in their auto response email, I feel like this a great small events company fighting hard to stay around and they deserve my positive review! Please note their HQ according to Linked in:
The Penthouse Suite, 7, Nuffield Way, Abingdon, Oxfordshire OX14 1RL. If this is incorrect then I request Slow dating add their HQ to their website/ terms and conditions. Please also note that I have had a response re. refund due to this review slot (most of which has been removed) and a bank recharge. Transparency on your website would be helpful to avoid disappointment and adhering to your terms and conditions is vital.
Terrible service and communication. Booked for an event this month, saw the event had disappeared from their website but other online options were upcoming (mine was at a venue, not online). Tried to contact three times to check if it was cancelled and no response. No response to a previous enquiry either. Had to assume it was cancelled rather than risk a long journey and an unnecessary babysitter. £20 down and doesn't look like any chance of a refund if we can't communicate. Feels like a scam...
UPDATE: the reply here isn't as useful as it sounds. There was no email that morning, despite them saying they had emailed directly. And as for them not having received any emails from me, I've just checked and have a record of four emails sent to the email address they tell me to email. A bit of public fronting, I think, but no closer to that refund. Still doesn't address the original problem which was my event being cancelled and me not being told - if I hadn't made a guess, I would have been there alone!
FINAL UPDATE I have now received an email and a refund, thank you. The email you attached and apparently sent me was never received though and I checked my SPAM folder throughout the whole process. I know how stretched everybody has been this year but it's never a good sign when people can't get a response from emailing, either directly or through the 'contact us' option on your site, but do get a response when a bad review is posted. It suggests priorities aren't quite right. I probably won't book again as Covid numbers are creeping up again and I don't have faith in a smooth cancellation process but thank you for the pleasant communication on here.

I nervously signed up to my first 'Virtual' Speed dating event for 29th July 2020. I was very surprised / disappointed to get an email on the day itself to advise the event was cancelled. There was no refund offered -just a message to say I was now enrolled on an event in October!! I messaged to say this was not acceptable and I simply wanted my money back. Apart from a generic reply explaining busy workloads due to COVID etc I have had no further reply. The phone no on the website doesn't work and it's all beginning to feel very much like a scam. Don't waste your money on this site - you may be lucky but, if like me, the event is cancelled, it is impossible to speak to anyone and so far, it is not clear if my refund will happen. Not a pleasant experience.
I went to slow dating after having failed experiences with online dating such as tinder. I was very nervous to attend the event but Josh the host made me feel very at ease and explained to the group clearly how the night would take place. We all sat in our areas and had four minutes to speak to every person with an interval. The interval allowed me to mingle and get to know people more in depth. I am not an overall confident person and there wasn’t one point I felt uncomfortable. If I ever had any questions josh was there to answer them all. Once all of the dates where over there was a time to mingle again. I felt slow dating to be intimate but also enjoyable. I have made a very good friend from going to this event and highly recommend slow dating to anyone who is wanting to meet new people. Thank you Josh I very much enjoyed myself.

I have had an online event cancelled twice...today with no notice at all. I haven't dated in 22 years and I was nervous and excited and this was very disappointing. I can't review an actual event as I have never had the chance to attend one.

I'm male. I was three times. The event was well-organised. Even though it is better than scam websites, I think that the concept of speed-dating is dying. At my first time, I assume that they had 'fake' girls because later after the event when I got in touch with some guys, it turned out that we all had the same girl who matched all of us. Only one and the same girl and no one else. Interesting. Obviously, we all messaged her and she didn't reply. At my second time, they didn't have enough girls, which made this event pointless. The third time was ok - I had much more fun talking to guys rather than girls. Only two out of 15 ticked me and no one matched. It seems that they never have enough girls, so they bring fake ones who are not interested in this event. Girls just show up and never do anything after. Overall, after those three times, I'm tempted to conclude that I have a much better time with guys coming to this event rather than girls: guys are well-spoken, more interesting to talk to, and with no attitude. I guess this is not the organiser to blame but the reality.
It's a only a great night out if you go open minded and just have fun. People who complain they didn't receive a match and were apparently guaranteed a date are in la la land. If you believe the company owes you something, all you do is complain about costs, the night doesn't go in your favour, then kindly don't attend, let someone else better take your space!! You are wasting oxygen in the room.

My three experiences of the service:
First time: pleasant, enjoyable and fun.
Second time: cancelled due to lack of women.
Third time: Fourteen men and just eight women. Of the eight women only four added their choices online.

Much better results than useless, scamming dating sites.
Well at least this one does deliver what it promises. To meet other singles. Well I didn't find anyone interesting there. They were okay, I guess. Not really anyone who I'd want to get to know.
The host was rather knowledgeable and friendly and the event building was very nice.
No results (big surprise lol) but at least I met some people, which is more than I ever got from Tinder, Match, OKCupid and other sites that are set up purely to make money from the lonely.
It'd be nice if there were much, much more events. I find there are far too few, at least in my city, one or two a month.
Yes, I would recommend them. They do indeed deliver what they say.

You can find good people you can really get along with. It is where I found the person who serves as my stress reliever right now though it took some time for me to find her due to the other profiles that seemed unreal. But overall, it is good.
Don’t bother!!!
Website has been down since the event over 48 hours ago, so no way to enter your matches apparently...
Emails are going unanswered
Very very poor, please don’t waste your time or money

Cannot fault the evening. The venue was perfect, the host was friendly and welcoming, and my friend and I had a really enjoyable first experience. The whole process was explained clearly, and we were made to feel at ease, having been very nervous and probably looking like deer in headlights!
If anything I think the dates could actually be slightly longer as it didnt feel long enough and early on it was quite a shock how quickly it went! Lol.
The online process was easy afterwards also, and the matches came back quickly. Will probably come back just because it was so much fun! (Though I'm looking forward to seeing how the matches progress in the meantime)
Thanks for a wonderful evening.
