Used Smidge on a holiday in the highlands and western isles, numerous midge bites later and one socking great horse fly squashed as it bit me attest to the ineffctiveness of smidge for me. Back to the DEET I'm sad to say. Not sure what scientifically proven means without published data. It might work for you but not for a midge magnet like me

I'm sorry Smidge did not work for you. This might be down to how it is applied. Smidge needs to be sprayed on to the hand or skin and rubbed in like a cream, this is unlike many other repellents that spray on. As for data, Picaridin (the active ingredient) is well studied independently of Smidge (data can be found in many journals) and is studied within the Smidge company too. The WHO recommend Picaridin as a DEET alternative that is just as effective. Thanks for trying Smidge regardless!
Very good product
When I received my order through the post it was an empty box. I contacted smidge and they replaced my order promptly. Thank you. I have to be very careful of insect bites and find smidge a less offensive one to use which I find is very effective.

Off to visit Scotland so need Smidge
We `re off to visit Scotland in a few days time and have been advised to buy Sidge to ward off any midges. Quick test down south and this is a very nice product to apply and rub in. It's not oily and the smell for humans is quite pleasant. Delivery very quick and packaged well. I guess the real test is yet to come.

Doesn't do what it says on the tin
Lots of reviews on here written before people have actually been on their holiday but talking about good delivery rather than the product..... Not especially useful really.
We used Smidge on our holiday in the Highlands and it made ABSOLUTELY no difference whatsoever to the midges. We live here now and have yet to find a good solution...... But as locals now, we don't use Smidge.

Hello! Thanks for trying Smidge and sorry to hear you had a bad experience with it. Smidge is scientifically proven to provide excellent protection against biting insects for up to 8 hours and Picaridin is WHO approved. However, there are several reasons repellents might not work on certain individuals. Hopefully you find a suitable solution for yourselves!
